  1. No nothing here either. I will write to him via snail mail at the weekend.
  2. Hopefully after a very nice man with a chainsaw and a shredder comes this morning, the pigeon will be dumping its load on someone else's car, but many thanks for the idea. Had the tree not been going, I would have gone down the cover route 🙂
  3. The tree comes down today. That bloody pigeon had to get one last dump in, didn't it?
  4. I struggled with this - I wanted the Audio screen to be the main display but no matter what I tried Betsy wasn't having any of it. Back to Nav it went. Climate was fine, Audio no. Android Auto (or CarPlay) is your friend I'm afraid!
  5. I believe there's a kit available for this. Check out the chap in Gen 2 IS forum - he's done it and may well have some pointers for you.
  6. That's a possibility which has been playing on my mind....
  7. I don't know what those buggers are eating, but that took some serious effort from the pressure washer to remove!
  8. Sadly not! I shall be getting what remains of my Supagard bird poo remover and the pressure washer out shortly. I have invited a tree surgeon round this coming Wednesday to remove the offending tree/sh*tting position.
  9. I believe that one or more local pigeons has put a fatwa on Betsy:
  10. I did think that after pressing Submit....
  11. You may have a point there, given the effort it took to get it off!
  12. Good point - I can only just reach the middle of the roof when giving her a wash.
  13. I did wonder if I was maligning the local Pigeon population but Betsy has to park under a tree (shortly to be felled I might add) so it would have been a good shot if it was a seagull.
  14. My can of 2008 vintage Supagard poo remover previously used in a similar incident here is almost empty now! It took two large applications and two buckets of hot water to get Betsy back to her shiny self.
  15. When I find the pigeon which did this, it's going to regret what it did mark my words....
  16. "Firstly I must thank you for your email and prudent request for advice in this situation with a view to protect your investment. The Lexus ES model is not one that we have seen any volume of being targeted - however we cannot say with certainty that it may not be attacked, as regrettably we cannot assume to know the motivations or indeed limits of the technology being used by current organised criminals." That's two or three stolen here now isn't it? I've not heard anything yet from the CEO. I'll revert to snail mail if nothing has arrived by the end of the week.
  17. You get used to it quickly. Some thought is required for parking spaces though - I tend to go for easy end slots in supermarket car parks, far from the hoi polloi. I did surprise myself the other day by parallel parking in a tightish spot with no difficulty at all. The turning circle is rather barge like though. Economy wise, mine can pootle along at the legal limit in the mid 50s. Others have got closer to 60 though.
  18. I use Waze/Google Maps over the inbuilt Sat Nav - it's much easier. The other thing I'd recommend is Wireless Android Auto with one of these: https://www.aawireless.io/ It fits nicely into the mobile phone holder next to the USB ports.
  19. You will find that young boys look at your car and give you a deserved thumbs up as well.
  20. That's an excellent point. The other thing is you won't find yourself automatically drawn to the outermost lane of multiple carriageway roads anymore 🙂
  21. Speaking from my own experience, just do it. Mine was an ex-demonstrator and since October 2021 it has been flawless. The only issues I think we all have are the oil tanker sized turning circle (you get used to parking in sympathetic spaces) and the car's propensity to stop and pick people up at taxi ranks (that's a forum in-joke by the way). I think it's a great car. Yes the materials aren't up to the same quality as previous generation Lexi and it "doesn't handle as well as or go as fast as the German opposition" but does that really matter? It'll last significantly longer and be much less of a head and wallet ache.
  22. I've just emailed chris.hayes at lexus.co.uk and will report back with any updates.
  23. Damnation! So I may have the head gasket replaced on my Vauxhall Nova all those years ago for nothing 😞
  24. Quick tip for anyone using a Stoplock, Make sure that your steering wheel is straight. I park on the driveway with my wheels at full lock because I'm lazy and don't straighten them. I put the lock on last night and the yellow sticky out bit was resting near the gear lever. I turned the car on before taking the lock out. Imagine my panic as the wheel came out from its resting position and the yellow sticky out bit met the gear lever. The wheel continued to move, pushing the rest of the sticky out bit onto the horn. "Oh dear" I said as I tried frantically to unlock the device whilst the horn blared...
