  1. I may resort to taking the rotor arm out of the distributor each night now to be on the safe side.
  2. I've heard back: "Dear Mincey, Thank you for your email regarding Betsy. We entirely understand and appreciate your concerns with the news of rising theft levels in the UK, and note that we see specifically a higher rate of theft and attempted theft within the boundaries of the M25, with an apparent focus in north and east London. Firstly I must thank you for your email and prudent request for advice in this situation with a view to protect your investment. The Lexus ES model is not one that we have seen any volume of being targeted - however we cannot say with certainty that it may not be attacked, as regrettably we cannot assume to know the motivations or indeed limits of the technology being used by current organised criminals. It is not fully clear how thieves operate but from footage it appears some thieves have sophisticated electronic equipment and can gain access to cars by entering via the headlamps or through the wheel arches. It is impossible to second guess the levels to which thieves will go to carry out these crimes. We have been extremely active in working with the police and other authorities to help them tackle recent crimes such as catalytic convertor theft, hopefully leading to new legislation that makes it harder to move stolen parts on through disreputable scrap metal merchants. Car theft is another such instance where we will do all we can to help. Lexus are in the momentum of developing some measures to assist in counteracting these theft attempts. At the present moment Lexus do not have any confirmed products or alterations that we can support, but endeavour to update the teams within our Lexus Centre network (and therefore be able to support our customers) in the near future. We would encourage you therefore to open communication with your most local or preferred Lexus Centre about request for this support, and as soon any information is available to share you can be informed at the earliest opportunity. I do hope that this email may help and thank you for your contact with Lexus customer support. With very kind regards Lexus Customer Relations Case Manager Toyota (GB) PLC - Lexus Division Distributor of vehicles, parts and accessories for the UK"
  3. I've bugged them and look forward to their reply!
  4. Has anyone contacted Lexus UK to ask what they're doing about this? If not I'll take one for the team.
  5. At the end of the day nothing is going to stop someone who's really determined to nick your wheels.
  6. That's why I sold my Pro on here. The Elite turned up today. It fits but if you go from the lock on the bottom right of the wheel to the top left it hits the indicator. The storage bag is a nice touch though.
  7. For sale - one Stoplock Pro steering wheel lock. VGC, genuine reason for sale - it doesn't fit Betsy and I need to fund one for her to deter thieving scroats. It definitely fits an a 2019 IS300h F Sport however. £25 plus £7 postage (it's quite heavy). May consider offers provided that they're not too cheeky. I have a piece of paper somewhere with the key code on it, but there's also a tag showing it with the keys. I will send the piece of paper to the buyer FOC when I find it.
  8. Would you believe that the Stoplock I used on my IS300h doesn't fit Betsy? The manufacturer reckons it's a recommended fit but I beg to differ!
  9. I will be digging out my steering wheel lock this evening.
  10. I meant ask an ES300h owner who had fitted mudflaps if they had the plug which had to be removed. Sorry for not explaining properly. Edit - I probably got the wrong end of the stick reading threads above. Ignore me, it's for the best.
  11. Ask someone who has fitted aftermarket flaps as I'm pretty sure that a plug has to be removed to put one of the screws for the flaps in. If they're like me, they'll have kept the plug 🙂 There are some owners in the ES300 Forum who have put aftermarket flaps on.
  12. It does make me smile. If you talk to a Schiessewagen owner, they will eventually admit that they're not all that (the car, not the owner).
  13. +1. It makes sense doesn't it? If anyone needs to actually use it, then they'll have to wake up that Trauma Doctor won't they?
  14. I think he meant "frenetic" in a "full of very cross customers with faulty cars" way.
  15. Talking of which (kind of), I was doing a site wireless survey the other day. The chap from the wireless company was telling me about the installations he'd done recently for a large motor group. He said that the activity in the JLR service centres was frenetic, whereas (and he wasn't prompted) he said the Lexus service departments were almost dead.
  16. On a trip from Peterborough to Wimblington and back the other day, I saw three. Yes you read correctly - three! None were taxis however, which based on previous experience and what they are really intended for, seemed odd. Oh and I saw a Toyota Camry yesterday. I would have pulled up alongside and given them a friendly toot but they went off at the roundabout exit before mine.
  17. I find it amazing that a relatively cheap Sony car stereo with RDS which I bought for my Vauxhall Nova in the mid nineties would change the time automatically when the clocks changed. Why oh why oh why can't Lexus do something similar?
  18. How long would it have taken him to get into it! I struggled to get into a Lotus Esprit when I was in my 40s....

  20. This is very sad news indeed. My condolences to his family and friends. I'm sure that in real life, John was even more of a wonderful fellow than he was here in virtual form. His sage advice - "have you looked in the manual?" will remain with me forever. RIP John, you will be missed.
  21. That's odd. I'm sure I had rubber mats in the back and front of my IS300h (part of the "comfort pack" or whatever it was called. Lexus mats are a bit pricey aren't they? I couldn't believe they wanted north of £100 for normal mats to replace the rubber mats in my IS!
  22. Do you really need front fog lights? My IS300h had the 3 LED option. I can't remember driving it in fog, but Betsy has a similar setup with no fog lights and we've never had any issues. IS300h: Betsy:
