  1. search my name for whats needed, its a right ball ache and really not worth it unless you can get the wheel/tyres really cheap. basically you need two lots of spacers, then get the centres of the spacers made bigger then get some new wheel nuts. its all in here(mine is a 97 400 so may be slightly different but i doubt it) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=63427
  2. the cars only done about 200 miles in the last six months, but no, the wheels dontget changed it just gets washed and polished then parked lol. needs a new battery now tho
  3. i got mine free! got them given off someone off here! how cool is that. got the front indicators and rear lights and bought the side repeaters, what a difference it makes
  4. got a bit of interest in my car as it doesn't get used hadly nowadays! do i sell?
  5. YO! YOU DISSIN' MA WHEEEELS BRO? I'LL HAVE TO SET MY HOMMIES ON YOU! its a 'G' thing word out respect man :zee:
  6. thats because you have 'driving' in your job title. if there were such a job title as hgv instructor it would likely be cheaper. i'm a crane driver but always put my title down as crane operator. because you drive(driving) for a living you are more likely to crash(law of averages) so your rate goes up. its stupid, i and you drive some of the largest vehicles on the roads proffesionally and yet we are charged more to insure our small cars! lol. mines rigid,18meters long,3meters wide and is 90+tons all 7 axles steer and is left hand drive!! and that makes me more of a risk in my car? go figure? as you may have guessed i hate insurance companys!
  7. see, how does that happen? i'm the perfect client in the eyes of insurers, i phone everywhere then someone younger gets a cheaper quote! bloody annoying conning insurance companys! and mine is about 3k miles a year!
  8. no it stays in the middle setting. i never adjust mine! bit pointless really. they do drop down into 1st gear a bit early so you can get a bit of a jerky set off at junctions etc. its a known problem(not really a problem, more picky than anything).
  9. privaledge for me too. i phoned everywhere, think i could get about £25 cheaper tpft but paid £299 fully comp with them. 37 years old 1 sp30 full ncb(9years+) no accidents, 1997 ls 400 value £2k. live in mr average area, parked on drive, no extra security. owned the car about 5 years and i think thats the most i've ever paid......absoloute rip off as far as i'm concerned. p.s. flux could get anywhere near. they sad if it was a bit older it would be better, still to new lol
  10. the wheels will 'fit' your cars stud pattern but like you say they wont go over the calipers(front). and those tyres are way to small for a 400 so you'll need at least another £250 for a cheap set of suitable tyres! as they are 6.5j with a 50offset which is the same i think as my 97 model, so by the time you have spacers they'll stick out a bit. you can't get a simple slip on 15mm spacer, you'll need a 20mm bolt on spacer(about £100 if you can still get them, but then the centre bore is wrong for a lexus normally so you'll have to get them machined), but if its anything like mine your studs will be about 25mm long so 20mm spacers are no good as the wheel will not sit flush against the spacer, just against the stud ends. so you'll need to fit 5-10mm spacers first before the 20mm bolt ons!........you still following? i've got mazda rx8 wheels on mine which are 7.5j with 40mm offset(i may have got the offsets muddled up).it looks good but what a carry on! i now know why you dont often see a 400 with nice aftermarket/different wheels on! personally i re-sell the wheels and try and find a 400 specific set in 17" or 18" as standard size 16" is too small......just to note you can go bigger/smaller with the offset(stick out more) as the standard wheels have plenty of space inside the arch, think i've got a photo of my fronts with 7.5 wide wheels with 50 offset with 30mm spacers! think they stick out about 5mm, illegal but not really noticable(passed its mot) sorry
  11. mine are the same, they recoil a bit but not right back. been like that for years and never failed an mot. i just put it down to being 'one of those things'. the belts are nice and snug when fastened around people.
  12. my mates are all big in the aircooled vw drag racing scene. a good mate of mine builds most of the engines for the bst uk cars. his personal beetle does low 10's and is road legal, it'll do 9's but he likes to keep it useable!! a few people i know are running 12's. i always thought the 4.0ltr motor would be a good drag motor in the right car!
  13. is that in standard trim? thats a good 1/4 mile time for a big numb thing. all my mates go drag racing and i was tempted to try a rwyb to see how good it was. if you can get it down into the 12's that would be impressive!!
  14. Hi Matt, it's not that far from you, is it? Go have a look..lol i might buy it!
  15. its about 3 different colours isn't it? the wheels are wrong for the year too
  16. still have gone for black tho :D same year, the grill kit makes a massive difference even tho people don't realise the difference!
