  1. just been to the local lexus deale rto look over the SC and it looks quite nice! it'll only be used once in a while as we've got the RX for load/kid lugging!! so give me your opinions good and bad please Ta Matt
  2. i got my RX from derby lexus.(black with black, could only get it from there) tax, NEW mats, full major service including new front pads and discs. i've not been to lexus teesside yet so cant comment on them.
  3. i've an rx300 and an old ls400. i'm just down the road from you in billingham. no problems with the rx but the battery on the ls is forever going flat as i work away and dont drive it for 4-5 weeks, i just jump it of the rx(the wifes so its in daily use) and its back to instant perfection.
  4. the thing is when you finally get a porsche(if you're mr average financialy) you will treat it with respect, you treat it different to say a nissan 200sx for the same price. all the old things go through your head...its a porsche, i cant crash it ,it'll cost me a fortune. i can't thrash it for the same reason. you feel cool going 30mph because even in an old 1985 944 people still look to see who's driving the porsche. where as in the 200sx you dont care about it, its only a nissan after all. n.b. boxters dont count.
  5. ok, so try..... "helloooo, big boy, what car do you drive dahrling?" "sti" "what?" "evo" "what?" "supra" "eh?" "gtir" "errr" "skline" "hmmm" "boxter" "purrrrrrrr, i like you" or just leave the keys/fob on the table :P nothing puts a smile on your face like owning a porsche. i've had an old 944 and it was cool and fun, i've now got a ls400 and an rx300 totaling a lot of money!! and i've also got a cheap £500 944 in the garage for track days and weekends and people think its worth more than the others!!(the none car people) and i actually makes me feel great knowing its mine!! and the prices 944's are at now you're not going to lose any money on them when you come to sell it.
  6. get an old porsche 944, not super quick but god value for money. for the price you'll get a nice enough none. they are fairly economical they are strong, fastish and still have the image(if you get the right one) and the insurance is reasonable. plus they win hands down in pub talk!! " so what motor you got mate?" "toyota" "oh, ok" "subaru" "oh,ok" "nissan" "oh'ok" "mitsubishi" "oh,ok" "nissan" "oh,ok" "porsche" "really!! what type? is it fast? you must be loaded! cool car, i've always wanted a porsche"
  7. shipping is $246!! it still works out at £367+ your import tax and y piece. still a bit cheaper
  8. rockauto is $249 for the cat= £125 x 2 = £250 for the cats + say £80 for shipping and tax and then the y piece you'll be looking at £400ish. half price. bit of a saving. plus they ship quick, i got my stuff in 48 hours
  9. if you need parts use www.rockauto.com in america. yes you have to pay shipping and tax but its normally a hell of a lot cheaper. dont know if they do exhausts but its worth a look
  10. i got a towbar fitted to my rx 300. its a brink removable one and no cuts were done. the spare doesn't fit tho(i knew before gettiin it done) cost about £270 fitted i think? from a very good local fitter. ibasically got it fitted for free when you compare the prices! its hardly noticable when its detached. i'm very happy with it.
  11. rx8 wheels dont fit straight on a mk3 for the reasons you said, you need spacers, they do look good tho. its a right carry on tho, i got 20mm bolt on spacers but the original bolts are too long!! so i've now got 10mm on too!! pain but worth it
  12. bought my rx from derby. nothing but good words for them.
  13. not sure exactly but i think its life span? i think iridium will do 60k miles where platinum are only good for 40k miles? i only do 5-6k miles a year so i'll be changing my plugs again before i do another 60k!!
  14. i know, but when i ordered i ordered all my service parts and some brake pads so it went over $50. i got stung for import duties but it was still loads cheaper than uk prices and it only took 48 hours to get here!!
  15. $66 for denso delivered which is about £35. plus a bit of import duty. still a good price
  16. if you start from the rockauto home page you put all your car info in and it brings up a chioce of about 20 plugs for your car. you need iridium(something like that!) or platinum. i went for the bosch ones which were $1.66 at the time(£2.67 now!) and they are fine. it still works out half price if you go for the denso ones but then with p+p and import its not a great saving. depends if you want to save cash and aren't fussy about original replacement parts. Matt
  17. https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,make,LEXUS i got mine from here(USA) with postage and import duties (if they catch you) it'll still be cheaper. i got all my service parts from there and when i got my plugs it worked out at 80p each!!! and yes they are the correct platinum ones.
  18. actually one of the terminals on mine is broken! i had to get the AA out to find the fault! i never did fix it! he just tightend it up and said i was to get a new one, i never got round to it then just forgot! i think that may be part of the cause!
  19. i've been away from home for the past 4 weeks and the wife went to start my 97 ls400 and the battery was completly flat. its a new battery as the old one wasn't holding charge.(i work away often and the car doesn't get used that much, my wife uses her rx!) anyway is this normal? would a battery only last 4 weeks? its only powering the alarm and clock isn't it? i'd just like confirmation that this is normal please otherwise i'll take the battery back
  20. No mate, late 30s I'd guess. Looked like a rep or something, chances are it wasn't even his car! is that not young
  21. I don't believe you understand how insurance works. In the event of some chqv chav scumbag crashing into the back of your car. You have to claim of[f] your insurance and they sue the other driver. Except in this case Prvilige ***** me over because I've had such a large NCB and it wasn't worth their while for the cost of a court case. THAT'S HOW YOU CLAIM OFF THE INSURANCE OF THE CHAV THAT CRASHED INTO YOU! you dont have to do that. especially with a £1000 excess! you dont have to claim on your insurance just because you're fully comp. that aside you still haven't explianed the accident. it does sound debateable who's at fault. the way you make it sound is as if he deliberatley rammed you? is that the case? if so i expect the police are prosecuting him for allsorts too? so there really shouldn't be an issue with insurance. unless you pulled out on him? can you clear it up
  22. cant you just service it yourself? its a very simple engine to service. i just did my 96 model myself. oil/filter, air filter, plugs and aux belt. took all of about 4 hours and £70!! i feel the car isn't worth the money to get it serviced by anyone else. the cars are worth nothing now anyway wether they have full history or not. i would still take it to an independent when the cam belt is due as i'm not that confident but for all the other parts there is a good walk through guide on the internet. its all very basic stuff. even by the parts and take it to a 'normal' garage and lose the lexus price!
  23. thats what he says, but its in the brochure it says it is.
  24. i've got an astral black RX but if i'd have seen one that colour i think i may have gone for that. i can see why people might think it ont work but i think it will. all the big posh SUV's are either black, silver or a dark colour. cant someone photoshop one?
