  1. For stereos, multimedia and GPS etc - I'd thoroughly recommend these guys. Chris Cooling - Prolek (Banbury)
  2. Pursuant to Excessive Inner Tyre Wear thread I have written to the MD of Lexus GB Ltd and asked him for his comments and to explain why both Customer Relations and the dealerships refuse to acknowledge the problem which us members know exists. For those new to this issue, please read through the above thread - or ask any IS200 or IS300 driver/owner as they are bound to have experienced it... I would kindly ask all members to NOT REPLY on this thread until the MD has responded: after that - post away! For each day that no reply is received, I shall post on here "Nothing heard" With thanks Chris
  3. God-willing tomorrow (Monday 25 Feb) the MD at Lexus GB Ltd should receive, by recorded delivery, my "Without Prejudice" letter. I have given him a link to this thread on the forum so he can see not only the "one-off" which are my tyres but also comments made by others on this site who have experienced the same (difficult because I am the only one who has experienced this, according to Customer Relations...) For reasons which will become obvious shortly I am not going to publish my letter on this forum for the time being however, (and at this point I will quote from my letter...) And now the important bit... With effect from tomorrow I shall be starting a new thread, entitled "The response from the MD of Lexus GB Ltd re: Tyre Wear". As soon as I get a response I shall, as indicated, post it on here for all to read. For each day I don't get a response (and he has my email address) I will simply add a reply of "Nothing heard." Of course, the MD will be able to read exactly what you are reading now and will know that the longer it takes for him to respond - the more Nothing heards there will be on the new thread. As such I would kindly ask all members to NOT REPLY on that thread until the MD has responded: after that - post away! If there are any questions, please PM me. With very many thanks in advance. Chris The sad thing is - this could have so very easily have all been avoided a long time ago...
  4. Recently I posted what one Lexus dealership refers to as the "revised settings". These, to me, are different to the ones that my local dealership use (according to my print-outs). For those who have the spec' ranges on their 4-wheel alignments to hand, done by Lexus could people please let me know which dealerships are using the "revised settings" and which ones aren't. I am starting to wonder if different dealerships do different alignments. I perceive the "old settings" (as used by my local dealership) to be where, on the front axle the acceptable Caster range: 5˚16' - 6˚16', Camber range: -0˚51' - 0˚09' Toe range: -0˚06' - 0˚18' To compare like for like - the settings for mine are for an IS200 (2001) no mods on 17" low-profile. I know that some on here have an issue naming names so for those to whom that applies - please PM me details. Thanks in advance.
  5. Oh I will be doing. I live not far from Jezza and have no problems whatsoever letting Top Gear and every other motoring magazine and program know. Personally, I think I will get a response.
  6. Back to the original purpose of this thread, before it was hijacked... Yesterday (Friday) I sent a detailed 3-page document for the Personal & Private Attention of the Managing Director of Lexus (GB) Ltd, by recorded delivery on the tyre wear issue. I promised him that I was not going to publish the letter here for now, but reserved the right to post it at a later date, and any response he makes on this specific matter. Would anybody like to know what the MD has to say on this subject????????
  7. Blackberry 8800 series or 8300 series. Can't see myself ever not having a Blackberry now.
  8. Currently writing to Mr Miguel Fonseca, MD of Lexus GB...
  9. The settings are different from those stated under the "Specifications" from Lexus dealership 4-wheel alignment I had done (as advised by local dealership) in Aug '07 and Jan '08. If the settings were perfect originally - as Lexus have consistently claimed, why would they have changed them? To coin an old phrase - "if it ain't broken why change it?" Class Action, anyone?
  10. OFFICIAL REVISED SETTINGS Hurrah, fresh from the fax machine of a Lexus dealership somewhere just off the M4 - I have the "revised Lexus settings" for the IS200. This is straight from Lexus' own UK intranet site which a service manager/assistant kindly faxed to me. For those wondering whether I can substantiate this - yes, I'll give the intranet site that appears at the bottom of the fax page if you like. FRONT GEOMETRY TOE 0˚12’ +/- 06’ Acceptable Range 0˚06’ to 0˚18’ CAMBER -0˚30’ +/- 30’ Acceptable Range -1˚00’ to 0˚00’ L/R Error 45’ MAX CASTER 6˚07’ +/- 30’ Acceptable Range 5˚37’ to 6˚37’ L/R Error 45’ MAX SAI 9˚25’ +/- 30’ Acceptable Range 8˚55’ to 9˚55’ L/R Error N/Adj WHEEL ANGLE 41˚01’ +/- 00’ Acceptable Range 41˚01’ to 41˚01’ REAR GEOMETRY TOE 0˚12’ +/- 12’ Acceptable Range 0˚00’ to 0˚24’ CAMBER -0˚55’ +/- 30’ Acceptable Range -1˚25’ to -0˚25’ Tony...your thoughts on the "revised settings"????????????????????????????????????????
  11. Today's update, as several of you have PM-ed me to ask... Lexus dealership 60 miles from me (NOT my local one) state the tyre issue IS a well-known problem and they have the revised "less wide" variable settings. After 10 days of them not being able to find the website and several phone calls from me sounding hacked off, I am given this as a website - where all the new settings are, allegedly... Of course, going into the service bay and printing off a copy from the alignment machine is all too much for them - as I know ranges will appear on that. I wonder if I'd taken my car there asking for an alignment - they'd have given me a courtesy car for 10 days on the grounds that "we haven't been able to find the website where the settings are yet..."? I have hunted high and low for them on here and I cannot find them. Apparently, where the answers lie... If anybody finds them, please could they let us all know what Lexus consider the revised geometry settings to be? Cheers Chris
  12. I feel a new thread is on the horizon - Songs You Want at your Funeral. The Jam - Going Underground
  13. Ringtone (General): Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis. Ringtone when my ex calls: The Bitch is Back - Elton John Ringtone when Lexus dealership call: Stand and Deliver - Adam and the Ants though it has been in the past, Suicide is Painless (Theme from MASH) Alarm: Teenage Rampage - The Sweet
  14. Will be what next Sunday? Clambering onto an ambulance? Pourquoi?
  15. In a previous life I worked on ambulances - Fiat Ducatos, Mercedes, Ford Lasers - some better than others (Mercedes were very slow - even the milk float could outpace it). The fastest one, though was the Volvo V90 chassis which was originally plated as a hearse. Emergency Services employees tend to acknowledge one another - but I always felt it appropriate to acknowledge those carrying the ones we didn't do so well with. Brake pads changed on Volvo Ambulance every 3000 miles! Top speed 133mph. Can't stand up in it, very cramped and vast majority of patients had to be lifted in unnecessarily as clambering onto the stretcher just looks bad.
  16. The General Manager of Customer Relations at Lexus GB categorically denies any knowledge of a "problem". Apparently, when I spoke to one of the chief technicians at Dunlop-Goodyear and explained my findings to him - he discounted the "under-inflation" diagnosis of Lexus Oxford immediately - explaining that under-inflation gives excessive wear on the inner and outer edges, not just the inners. The General Manager of Lexus GB poo-pooed this giving me the manufacturer knows best spiel. Yes, according to Lexus GB - Dunlop-Goodyear don't know what they are talking about when it comes to tyres... You see why I am keen to have that conversation with the Director of Customer Relations!!! In the unlikely event that someone high up in Lexus GB is reading this - please PM me. Meet me. Do your own tests on my tyres supplied by one of your dealerships on the recommendation of one of your regional managers and explain to me why they are the way they are. I imagine I'd pass out from hypoxia before I hear from anyone so I shalln't be holding my breath waiting. Chris
  17. All Many thanks thus far for the responses. I have PM-ed a few of you and kindly asked you to put down the model and importantly the year of your vehicle which had the problem. I understand the whole data protection issue. If people would prefer to contact me off forum via PM or email - please go ahead. Any information I get will be used solely for the purpose described - to take to Lexus GB for their comments and hopefully, action. We all know there was a problem and those clued-up enough have entrusted Tony to solve it, present company included. I just wish I hadn't gone through the expense of letting Lexus loose on it all those times before at my expense. I have little doubt that I am one of many in this situation. This is a great opportunity for a manufacturer to learn that the best critics of their product aren't Messrs Clarkson, Hammond, May and Plato, nor Miss Butler-Henderson (I am more Top Gear than 5th Gear...) but you and I, the hard-working owners. As a collective, we can do something about it. Our best chance is if we have strength in numbers. I'll do everything I can - I just need everybody else to do a bit too! With many thanks in advance. Chris
