  1. I have been told by the dealer that the engine has a 7yr 100K warranty (extended due to problems) with their diesels. I have a 220d SEL and have been told to keep an eye on oil consumption, fuel consumption, warning light, coolant level and any changes to how it responds (sluggish or not). The re-build is costly and time comsuming. Expect your car to be away for a week. Mine is a 2006, 220D SEL
  2. I have a IS 220D SEL, 2006 Reg. I have had it since nearly new. Hardly used the 6th. You end up changing down to 5th when overtaking or going up a hill. Really useless unless cruising at speeds above 85mph! How could you do that legally? What was lexus thinking?
  3. I am currently working in Italy and had my HID (passenger side) on my Lexus 220D SEL(UK car)replaced by Lexus Como for 250 Euros. The price in the UK at Lexus Twickenham was £192 about five months ago. Why don't you ring the dealer and ask for the code. When I looked on the internet, the price was about £175 but like you I was not sure and was not going to pay that to be delivered and later find out it did not fit or solve the problem. Shop around at various Lexus or Toyota garages. Do you know how to fit it?
  4. I have a IS 220D SEL and it had the same problem, had the bulb replaced at Lexus Como, Italy for 250 euros. My car is 2006 and UK registered. No problem since then, very expensive
  5. You should see an improvement in fuel consumption and it should accelerate much smoother. Its good that its happened now than outside the 7yr or 100K. Would be very interested in finding out exactly what has been done to your car. I hope that Lexus do a recall to fix this problem, mine is sluggish but its not using any oil so I can't get the work done, have to wait! Good luck
  6. Yes got the same noise when I change gears. If you change quickly you don't get that noise or not notice it, but if you have got the clutch depressed for a little longer and you take the time to change, you do hear that noise. I have owned a 2006 220D SEL since June 2007 and it has always had it. Its also in the courtesy cars they provided me! So I guess its a common issue, but its very odd that it exists. I had a VW diesel helpsbefore and did not notice such noise. Hope it
  7. I am also worried about his issue, so contacted the dealer. They said that when the warning light comes on the engine needs some rebuilding with pistons and so on. Its a big and costly job. I have been told to keep an eye on the oil level, warning lights, sluggish performance. The car engine has a 7yr 100k warranty, so don't pay for anything.
  8. My advice is to stay away from the 220D. I have a 2006 220D which has been promblematic and I am not alone. The IS 250's are mechanically problem free with odd rattles here and there which can be fixed like they did with mine. The 200D has lower emissios and slower. The IS 250's are smoother and very quiet. The 220d or the 220d cannot keep up with some of the competion for economy or refinement. Do you really need a diesel, it was my mistake, do your sums!
  9. I have 2006 IS 220d. The gear gaitor tightened up or something and it was making a scraping noise when I changing gear. It was nothing to do with the clutch. Sorted under warranty a while back.
  10. Lexus have a 100000 miles or 7yr warranty on the engine covering issues such as oil consumption etc. I have been told to keep an eye on the oil level or the VSC warning light. Mine is sluggish and do anticipate that it will need the dreaded engine rebuild. Mine has done 62K and apparantly these problems start from this milage onwards. Get yours checked out and don't let them fob you off.
  11. Sorry to hear about your IS220D. I contacted the dealer regarding the poor fuel economy and sluggishness. They asked me whether the car consumes oil or not. In my case, not yet but I anticipate that it will do soon. Lexus have a warranty of 100,000 miles or 7yrs on the engine. It requires a engine rebuild.
  12. I think this is to do with EGR valve. You should have had an some engine modification under a recall, did this happen?
  13. They will need to take the dash off and put more clips and padding inbetween. It can be sorted, but you will find that there will be more rattles as as the car gets older, sorry.
  14. I drive the 220d and my mirror was loose and was replaced. Much better than before, there is no movement of the mirror (used to have a little bit of a wobble), but still vibrates. Test drove the I250, its so different, no vibrations!
  15. I have a IS 220D with numerous rattles, some of it has been fixed. It has been to Lexus five times. The vibrating rear view mirror and the cracking noise from the centre of the dash has been sorted. Has had two ECU upgrades, now returns around 480 miles, mainly around town. But there is a rattle from the rear parcel shelf area, deep vibrations from the driver side air vent (attempted to fix three times) and head rest rattles (previously fixed but has returned). Has anyone had these completely sorted? There are also a few other rattles when driving over rough surfaces but can't locate it. Thanks Prash
