  1. I have a universal antenna that I dont need anymore (see my other posts :( ) It looks like an easy fix. Send me an Email on britrb@hotmail.com and I'll get back to you asap. Have fun mate, Brian :)
  2. The insurance company will be taking it away. The other driver did not accept responsibility for the accident. I bought the car for £870, but insured it for £1500, so I'll be getting £1200 after they take out the excess £300. The next car I'll be looking at will be either a Soarer, or if I cant get one at the right price and in the right condition, I'll be looking at an (sorry guys) Audi A8 RS, or S8. I will try to find out what the insurers will do with the car. Would it be legal for me to remove parts (stereo, amp, small stuff etc) before they take it away? The car just had new brake pads, and disks all round, and a front wheel bearing. The electric seats all work apart from a jammed left hand motor on the drivers seat. The chassis seems ok, but there was a heck of a thump and the whole car was shifted to the left during the accident. Thank you all for your concern and support :) and if its ok, If I do get an Audi I would like to stay a member of these forums. Thanks again all, Brian :) This is just an oppertunity to look for a newer car ;)
  3. Whilst driving home from work last week, I got side swiped by a lorry coming the other way around a bend. The lorry was over the white line, and as I came around a bend this happened. Norwich Union have declared it a write off. Needless to say, I am gutted. :( :tsktsk:
  4. Well, its been lovely. I just had my entire drivers side mangled by some blind tw&t in a lorry. Bugger. :tsktsk: :crybaby:
  5. Open the boot, and inside, behind the filler door there is a little flap door. Open that and pull the cable inside and that wil open your filler door :) Hope this helps, Brian :)
  6. I think it could be the power steering pump, as it is whining like crazy when steering at standstill :( How much does it cost for a replacement one? :tsktsk: And thanks for the replies Steve2006 :)
  7. Additional info. I have also noticed that the noise goes away after a bit of driving.
  8. I have a strange whining sound when moving in drive on my 1995 LS400. It sounds like some cars do in reverse, or as if I have a super charger. Does this mean I need a new gear box? I have checked the oil levels and they are all ok and look clean.
  9. Does the car "feel" good? (yes) Do the pedals look really worn? (no) does it look as if it has done over 60,000m? (no) Does the engine sound tappety? (no) I'm not sure of your rights here, but if the car feels good etc. then it should be a good buy. Check with citizens advice, as I believe that No car is sold as seen from a dealer anymore. They are accountable for every car they sell. *The answers in the brackets, are the correct ones you should be looking for. ;) Do you have any pictures of the car? :)
  10. Is there a spec sheet with the information like: My model's mk no. BHP. Torque. Wheel offsets (Which I have now thanks to this forum :) ) Thanks again guys and gals :)
  11. I found this little beauty to use instead of all that messing around with cables etc. Eee PC I could add more RAM, and get a bigger solid state HDD to store more music and programs, And I could build a docking station for it, so that I can take it out of the car when I need to. :D I'll start saving my pennies now!! :winky:
  12. Hi again, Iam looking for the engine diagnostic lead (engine to laptop) for my 1995 LS400. What are they called and where do I get them from? Thanks again all, Brian :)
  13. I agree, in fact the only way to get my stereo to work was to remove the amp completely and run new cables to the speakers. I have to say, that I'll not be fitting it as I am an utter cluster :tsktsk: with car stereos!! I'll be getting the guys at Safe'N'Sound at Lake on the Isle Of Wight to do the fitting. I just thought I'd try to save some cash on buying the kit first. :winky:
  14. I think I have decided on a CarPC build. I have looked around and found software for easily navigating through Windows XP and Vista. I have also found ideas from this site: Car Cumputer. The software is called Centrafuse: Centrafuse I havnt found any engine managment software yet, or a way to get the information from the engine to the computer. I will build the computer myself (the easy part), but get help from Safe'N'Sound in Lake Industrial estate on the Isle Of Wight to install the whole thing into the car.
  15. I am looking at replacing the old Radio tape player in my lovely 1995 LS400 with a double din DVD touch screen thingy with SatNav. Does anyone know who supplies the plastic insert brackets for them? Thanks for your time all, Brian :)
  16. I have no idea at the moment, I have been looking around on the net, but not found the right software yet. I am hoping to pick up something like a data connector to USB lead from Lexus? GoldfingerLS: I would prefer an inverter as - due to my job - I sometimes have nowhere to plug anything in for long periods of time, and would like to have the odd cup of tea now and again ;) lutonmatt: Carpc, I'll check that out. Do you have any links at all? aaronabbott: It looks like some kind of complicated torture device, but looks about the sort of thing, thanks :) Thank you all for your advice and time, Brian :)
  17. That’s outrageous Steve, hope you can buy some new ones from a different supplier, can you seal them up with silicon to prevent further problems, you could stick the three good ones on eBay, someone may need to replace one due to an accident or something.... Pete Does anyone know of any UK suppliers of these clear front indicator lenses? And does anyone know of anyone that supplies a set of smoked rear light clusters please? Thanks all, Brian :)
  18. I am thinking of mounting a laptop in my LS400. Has anyone here done this yet? and do you have any advice, or products to look at? I will be using it as a GPS mostly (I have a GPS receiver for my laptop), but want to look at using it to monitor engine data as well. It needs to be mounted on the passenger side facing the driver. I wil be using a normal inverter for the power and would like to be able to remove the mount with the minimum fuss, maybe leaving a fixed bracket in place. Thank you all for your time and effort, Brian :) :mat:
  19. Hi there, My Radio station display, temperature display, and my clock LCD Back lights have stopped working. Does anyone here know how to fix the problem? Could it just be a fuse? Its not the end of the world, but I would like to get these working, mainly to see if I am late for work or not!! (Any excuse to put the foot down!) The car is a 1995 Lexus LS400 with the Cassete player in the front, cd changer in the boot. Not a very good picture, but the only one at the moment... The main display for the radio is working, but not the little one that displays the radio station playing. Thanks for all your time and effort, Brian :) P.S. Where is the best place to get parts, eg. bonnet lifters, brake disks and pads...
