  1. Hi, is there any information please on the next IS? I believe it will be next year and will be a mini "(new) GS"? As usual, buying the current IS250 next year would be value for money as Lexus will be loading them with kit before production ends? Thanks
  2. The IS250 came out November 2005 so I guess we have another year till the next generation -- I suppose the new GS gives clues as to how the IS will look? Also I saw the new 3 in the flesh and the rear from a side profile reminded me instantly of the IS250 rear! I think my next car will either be the new 3 or the next gen IS.
  3. You hear stories in the news - but when you are going round a roundabout even if the slip road and m-way were empty you have to make a very acute left turn to join the m-way. So can it be done accidentally???
  4. Is the Hazard light flashing drivers do as a thank-you is any official document such as the Highway Code? Or it is just mentioned to be used in an emergency / breakdown situation?
  5. I was having a look at this issue and the IS250 got only 2/5 stars; usually What Car? had given it 3/5. In comparison, its competitor the 3-Series is nominated 3 times in their Compact Exec category and wins it! http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/what-car-car-of-the-year-awards-2011/compact-executive-contenders/254786 http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/what-car-car-of-the-year-awards-2011/compact-executive-winner/254786 I, patiently, wait the 3rd generation IS, and hope it really gives the Germans something to think about! Of course, it's just WC's opinion - they'll be lots of people of this forum who have driven the 3-series and still prefer the IS so it's down to personal choice.
  6. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/253274/ Haven't been following the posts here for yonks. Anyone seen this or other sites please? Any more info on 3rd gen IS?
  7. If I bought a car new for x pounds and have had it for 10 years is there a website(s) to calculate the current cost so I can input the correct amount it is worth when applying for car insurance? I'm guessing a lower car price => lower premium?
  8. Single barrel or double barrel? Which make, features you'd get - off to Halfords tomorrow. Pls advise! Cheers. P.S. in this week's Auto Express is a group test and the Michelin one is winner. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/257182/foot_pumps_tested.html from 2005: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/56696/foot_pumps.html
  9. went to the local garage, the guy there was able to pump up my tyres easily, said it could be a faulty/broken hose connector on my foot pump? Makes sense???
  10. Tried it on the other tyres and footpump is fine. Appears to be a leaking valve instead???
  11. When I fit the foot pump to the tyre valve and push the locking lever down air rapidly comes out. I've tried another foot pump too - same thing happens. If I fit the the adapter partially to the valve--not all the way down and pump... the tyre doesn't increase in pressure! Help!
  12. The SE-L 250 MM Auto would be the one I'd choose but I detest the wood trim. There's some 20 year anniversary complimentary upgrade for the SE-L to F-Sport trim at the mo?
  13. I've yet to drive an IS250 and am curious how does it compare to the IS200. This has been probably discussed many times before when the IS250 came out but a refresher would be appreciated, personal opinions. Also any news on the 3rd gen IS yet - after 2012 - probably?
  14. is this method for _all_ cars - not just IS200 (or Toyota/Lexus)?
  15. On the rear seats of cars, the seat belt buckle is threaded through a small hole in the seat. If something small from your pocket falls into the hole such as loose coins, small key, etc is it possible to retrieve them without cutting into the seat? The seat is firmly fixed into the car chassis - you can't lift it up - it's not a removable big cushion on your sofa!? Any bright ideas? Not sure if this has ever been asked here or anywhere!?
  16. It might be still trendier and give you privacy but is it not like driving with your sunglasses on ALL the time? Hence in night time you don't have the option of 'taking your' sunglasses off and it's harder to see hazards, etc outside? Less SAFETY? I'm talking more for the windscreen and rear screen (the side windows are 'less' of an issue as you don't see through them as often and can slide them down for better vision). Sometimes it's so black inside you can't see see anything! What's the logic? Please anyone? I'm sure the Highway Code also states it's not a good idea - or words to that effect. But people still opt for privacy glass, etc.
  17. How come on some cars e.g. Audis with the LEDs only the front lights are lit up - should there not be LEDs on the rear lights too? [180]
  18. A trio of questions 1.These DRLs could be like on Volvos or BMWs (corona rings) or Audi (LED string of pearls) or some other style of 'bulb'? 2.Is this requirement for brand new models which come out in 2011 or existing models (e.g. Lexus IS250/220) for their 2011 model year? 3.Does the IS or other Lexuses already have some sort of DRL?
  19. It's been on mind - was driving behind a 3-series (E90) facelifted (as it had the new rear lights and different shape wing mirrors) and the plate was of the usual format: xx52 xxx where x is a letter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_regis..._United_Kingdom The THING is this means the plate was registered between September 2002 and before March 2003 but the facelifted E90 came out in September 2008 so the earliest plate could be a 58 one. P.S. Do you know why the letters were S, T, V... i.e. missed out U? I can understand Z was omitted and the new style system started with 51 as Z could be mistaken for 2?
  20. I sometimes use them if (a.) there's some left and (b.) I remember to but rarely see anyone else use them? Surely for hygienic reasons and not just getting the fuel on the skin it should be a good idea to? How grubby are the petrol pump unit thingys?
  21. Around 4pm it is getting dark - sunset and I'm driving with my lights on but the car behind isn't got his on but the cars behind him have! Few weeks ago it was really darkish and the car behind me didn't have them on - (I thought he should by now...we're on a country road too National Speed limit applies 60mph max) so I suddenly turned mine off and then waited a sec or two and turned them on (as a kinda signal for him) and he got the message to turn his on! Why is this - is it the dash is lit up in some cars even when the lights are off?
  22. If your automatic car is parked in your drive and it's icy - like an ice rink what do you do to get it out safely then? Could / would you de-ice the drive - how? - Do you use loads and loads of aerosols of de-icer? - Buy road salt - where from? B&Q? - Pour buckets of hot / boiling water on the drive? - Something else? Help please! :( P.S. How come in America and Canada automatic cars are the norm when they have such terrible wintry conditions compared to us? How do they drive automatics if you can't force the gear in a higher gear than normal?????
  23. If suppose you get your tax disc few days before the current one expires - is it 'legal' to display it in the windscreen prior to the current one expiring? So I don't lose it! I can't imagine there being any issue but I thought I'd ask just in case :)
  24. Hi, http://carsspyphotos.com/2013-bmw-3-series/ http://carsspyphotos.com/all-new-bmw-3-series-spied-again/ http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-ca...e-new-2011-F30/ http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/20/spy-vid...winter-testing/ http://throttleblips.dailyradar.com/video/...ideo-in-motion/ I noticed some spyshots of the next 3-series and since it was available March 2005 and the IS250 was out November 2005 I was wondering if there's any hints on the next model - the Mark III :-)
  25. Out of the two super fuels - I tend to use Shell V-Power rather than BP Ultimate. For some unknown reason BP fuel prices are really expensive when compared to Shell! Is this the same situation in your area?
