  1. On Sky 884 Audi have their own channel but I'm surprised BMW or Mercedes or some other prestige make doesn't have something similar - any ideas?
  2. I recall reading that the first year or batch of the ISs in the UK (maybe the world) had Toyota etched on the glass windows and windscreen and Lexus had to rectify the situation! Is this true and has it happened to any other Lexus models or/and are there any other Toyota style *****-ups like having the Toyota logo on the steering wheel instead of the Lexus 'L' for instance?!?!
  3. I have to admit the minor tweaks and improvements (i.e. facelift) to the current 3-Series saloon (which I believe came out 20 September, just over a week ago) does make it even more appealing. Of course you might just want to buy a Lexus and it is value for money with all the toys you get as standard! I can't really comment but the motoring press did slate the IS220d and the 320d would be the 'obvious' better choice?
  4. It might be my old IS and that it's been involved in a crash, ... but even with tracking done at the dealer, when you turn the wheel you don't get as much feel as you do when I drove the (current) 3-series. Is there anything one could do personally - increase the PSI of the tyres, etc or does it require Tony to adjust the geometry and tracking or what? At slow speeds you do get more feel but at faster speeds it really is 'loose' steering ---- I thought that Japanese cars tend to drive like this anyhow? Sometimes I feel I have to hold the wheel with my hands to keep the wheel 'still' if you understand what I mean!
  5. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...ws_its_top.html don't think this has been posted?
  6. 7. Empty envelope/sleeve - what's this for please? 8. CD for computer - what's on this? any help please - I'm curious!
  7. I'm planning to go to a dealer (due to limited time right now) rather than WIM. Now the tracking (wheel alignment) and geometry will both be 'wrong'. However what should I ask my dealer (in terms of hardcopy/printouts) to have a record of all the settings/adjustments he's done? So that when I go to Tony in the very near future he can tell me how bad/wrong the adjustment was! Tony can you reply or PM me please? Would it be a health and safety issue to ask to stand and watch the work being done - I think the dealership make this an issue? Because reports back from people who have been WIM'ed say "Tony explained everything...." so I get the impression you are standing right next to him watching the adjustments in front of you? I'm not sure what the difference is between tracking and geometry setup but I understand Lexus dealers do both 'wrong'? And it makes no difference if you car is 10 years old or 3 years old - getting WIM'ed - you WILL notice the difference? Might I dare to suggest it will drive better than the old 3-series (E46) - tighter wheel / more feedback from the steering for instance?
  8. Any particular one(s) you like / dislike? Weekly Autocar Auto Express Monthly car What Car? Top gear evo Performance car etc Others Parkers Used Car Buyer What Diesel Fast car Max Power Lexus Mag (!) (I don't see Test Drive any longer - I think it stopped?)
  9. 215/45 ZR17 Up to 100mph Front 33 psi Rear 33 psi 100 – 132mph Front 35 psi (up to 4 people) 36 psi (up to full vehicle capacity) Rear 35 psi (up to 4 people) 41 psi (up to full vehicle capacity) Above 132mph Front 36 psi (up to 4 people) 38 psi (up to full vehicle capacity) Rear 38 psi (up to 4 people) 49 psi (up to full vehicle capacity) My point was that the article is missing pressures for (up to full vehicle capacity) for up to 100mph. Anyway is Tony's 35psi for all "combinations" - i.e. 100-132mph, above 132mph and (up to full vehicle capacity) and all brands of tyre on the IS200/300?
  10. 97RON was BP Ultimate? - at 112.9 - wow! I meant that BP unleaded is only 4p more (i.e. not much) than Shell unleaded as compared to 16p more for the Super Unleaded option (BP Ultimate) than Shell V-Power. How come the normal unleaded is 4p more but the Super unleaded is 16p more? The other benefit of these super fuels is that that are supposed to clean your engine more as well as more mpg?
  11. Looking in the glove boxes of the showroom's ISs I managed to write down the following items: 1. Welcome guide 2. Owner's guide 3. Quick start guide 4. Sat Nav system guide 5. Warranty and services booklet 6. Leather wallet 7. Empty envelope/sleeve - what's this for please? 8. CD for computer - what's on this? 9. Paint touchup x 2 10. Cloth + cleaner (windscreen?) 11. DVD for sat nav 12. Wheel nuts 13. Fuel consumption guide 14. Crime check leaflet or something 15. Security check VIN or something 16. Serial number stickers Not everything was in each glove box e.g. 13, 14 and 15 were absent from the IS-F! Now, when I buy an IS250, or rather when I earn the £££ is there anything else I should be getting?
  12. http://fifthgear.five.tv/ missed last week's; I'm sure at the end it would have said that next week's show would feature this shootout? set your video or rather your HDD / DVD / PVR!
  13. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...p;id=43&c=5 Isn't this missing pressures for "up to full vehicle capacity" for Up to 100mph for both 16" and 17" tyres?
  14. I've been filling up with V-Power a few times and getting 400+ miles to the tank from the cut-off (although I round up to the nearest £ - not sure if that's money efficient as I'm not on any Shell Drivers Club scheme with points/etc) to when the fuel red warning light comes on. Decided to do the same with BP Ultimate but it was so expensive I said no! Typically: Shell unleaded 108.9 BP unleaded 112.9 (4 pence more - understandable) Shell V-Power 115.9 BP Ultimate 131.9 (what the ??? and Shell's is a higher RON at 99 than BP's of 97!) I have a tendency to fill up at the red low fuel light as I'm 'scared' I might just run out of fuel in the middle of the road!
  15. Speaking to the service dept they said Lexus only recommend these two hence we only have these in stock - my garage a year or two ago changed mine to Pirellis however checking my boot tyre it's Michelin Pilot and I do have a memory when buying the car it was Michelins so has Lexus changed their recommended tyre(s) over the years? BTW is it correct that you can have two of the same make on the front and two of the same make on the rear but not any other combination other than all the same make? ATS Euromaster said they would swap my front passenger tyre with my rear driver however Lexus said you can't do this - is this correct? On the IS200 do Goodyear Eagle F1s wear 'funny' - I heard?
  16. I followed the instructions and did it for 10 minutes, supposed 15 is better, but was sitting in the car - and you have to keep the aerosol button pressed down manually - there's no switch on it to let it discharge automatically - I was getting my breathing system cleaned too! The box says SIMPLE TO USE LOCK & LEAVE SYSTEM and figure 4 has the aerosol discharging without any hand there as in figure 3 so I thought there was some catch/switch on it to let it discharge automatically?
  17. I've noted if you create a new post and post it and then wish to edit your post the tick box for "Enable email notification of replies?" is missing in Post Options but "Enable emoticons?" and "Enable signature?" are still there - is it supposed to be like that? Also, you can't edit your topic title once you've posted?
  18. Picked this up for £12, on the instructions says to turn the air con on with the engine running but you could just turn the key to ON to get the air con working - what's the difference please? You spray the stuff behind the front passenger seat after moving the front passenger seat as far as possible - erm why passenger seat and not drivers - convenience? It says to discharge all of it - but I stopped halfway so I could use it again - the car isn't that smelly!
  19. The usual drivers in Autocar, Sutters and co, gave it a glowing report and in some ways it was better than the M3, made me smile. Sorry about being late with the news, might be online at http://www.autocar.co.uk shortly.
  20. > I think that japthree is saying that he thinks the dash looks better if you have an auto because you get those lights there. Yeah, it "completes" the circle on the right hand side with the fuel gauge on top; then you have the speedometer in the centre and the rev counter on the left --- otherwise the lower right looks a bit empty under the security indicator light? See page xii of the owner's manual. IMHO! My point was on an auto you can simply kick-down to accelerate from 30mph to 50+mph (not reading the road is not the issue) and optionally have PWR button on and optionally shift to "3" from "D" as well. I suppose kick-down drops the gear to "3" so if you are in "3" already and kick-down it goes to "2"? .... whereas on a manual you'd shift to 3 usually (only).... On page 161 (owner's manual) item 6 is in bold and says "If you need to accelerate still more, exert more force to depress the accelerator pedal beyond the full throttle position to turn on the "kick-down" switch. (Left hand drive vehicle only)" Does that mean UK auto ISs don't have kick-down as we are right hand drive?!? (We are right hand drive but drive on the left-hand side of the road, correct? I once asked a driving instructor and he said we are left-hand drive as we drive on the left hand side of the road but I didn't want to correct him as he was the driving instructor!)
  21. I'm thinking of going to a local dealer (maybe Lexus Manchester or Liverpool) to get the service done and other bits and bobs including the........ tracking - for convenience and all in one place. Now I suppose you are all going to say I'm wasting my money there - going to WIM is a little far right now - too busy these days! The geometry and tracking/wheel alignment are two separate things I believe?
  22. e.g. Mazda MX5 Nissan 350Z Honda S2000 IS200/300 IS250/220 etc What do you say and why? My answer is a bit biased! :) P.S. you can't "cross-post" to the IS250 forum can you on these boards?
  23. You are on a 30 mph road and suddenly a sign comes up for 50 mph or even suppose the National Speed limit (60 or 70 mph depending on the carriage way). To reach that speed do you use a combination of these? 1.kick-down 2.shift from D to 3 3.use sports "PWR button" mode? I really like the IS' auto box in that you can move it left and right as well as up and down - it's more fun! I just think an auto looks more modern than a manual visually? Also I think the dash is missing something without the automatic transmission indicator lights in the bottom right corner? Finally in busy traffic I sometimes shift to 3 (from D) as it 'feels' there's more braking and less chance of hitting the car in front - if that makes sense!
