Bit further to Scotland ....lol.... Mines been shipped just waiting now to see what extra import charge will be when it arrives.
-
Yeh last time I had a complete 5 th gear assembly for Rav 4 and they wanted £64 duty but still saved over £250 on uk prices, hopefully for the ignition switch I've just ordered won't be much to pay.
-
Yep last stuff I had they sent me a letter and I phoned them up and paid overphone then item was delivered.
-
Total cost inc p&p £29.69 to suffolk. May Incure Import charge but shouldn't be much on that, I paid £64 import charges on gearbox parts which were heavy and cost £286 .

Are now your talking ... I would if I could mate be afraid to leave it any where though.
-
Nope ! Got rid for nothing in return !! No picture mate

Will let you know what they come back with !Ok thanks will pop down and lay head under dash and see if I need to order flexi drive to be able to remove. Sent off enquiry to amayama will get one ordered.
I sent amayama an enquiry yesterday for this part as well, be interesting to see if they differentiate between Suffolk and Scotland for p&p!

I like the ride height of the RX and FWD in slippery conditions but having only driven father in laws on short trips I know where you are coming from, could do with owning both !!!!Phil,
I parted company with my beloved LS 400 in November 2012. I then bought a 2009 RX 400h. It was a nice car with all the attributes you describe.
BUT.......it wasn't an LS.
In November 2013 I exchanged it for my LS 460. Once you've owned an LS, somehow, nothing else will do.

if you look in the second pic its the block connector with lots of wires coming from - its on the right handside of the pic next to the round sponge covered connector
Yep I see it thanks again for that will be a great help when part comes.
-
Great pics , man there some stuff under there, can,t even see the switch on them . I love the RX it's really smooth with the CVT box and on a long run very comfortable, excellent in snow aswell where the LS would struggle, but there's something about the LS which appeals every time for me.
-
Yeh I know, I have a RX400h but clean father in laws LS for him and love driving it, real quality car and smooth and as they live only a few doors away see it regularly.
-
Thanks Mark that's great will get the part ordered and swap it over. Job for after xmas as will be a few weeks from Japan !!

Have used amayama before for gearbox parts on my RAV4 , they were excellent so may drop them an enquiry to see if cheaper including delivery etc. you say I need a flexible socket drive to make life easier to remove ? Can I just remove from behind ignition column or does everything (column) have to come off to be able to access it.
-
Thanks Colin , may have to pop to local toyota dealer as only suppliers I can find are overseas, can't locate uk one as yet.

Thanks have had a look but can,t seem to find that part for a LS all other lexus models but no one lists the LS. The part number in the previous posts (USA part number) doesn't match any listed on eBay etc. without taking it off and looking for a number, may have to give lexus a call and get uk part number.

I know on some models the pins have a rubber type o ring, guide ring , on them to make them a tighter fit, grease up and then slide in taking up any slack, not sure what RX is like but may be these are missing from the pins ? Hopefully someone will be along. I will try and find a drawing and have a look.
-
That's superb thanks a lot will get one ordered and have a go at changing it.
Any ideas where best place to get one from ? Looked on eBay but part number different to link posted.
-
I might be wrong but looks like a plastic round switch which screws on back off ignition assembly, so am I right in thinking this can be replaced without the need to replace any keys ? Not sure how much of a job this will be also. Anyone done this ?
-
If you have same problem then that's interesting to know, may look into getting another switch so should be able to replace switch and keep, centre barrel so keep same keys I believe.

Right just spoke with the in laws and they have just told me the engine keeps running but they loose all dashboard lights and power steering, headlight light on dash is only light that stays on if head lights are on. It can happen at anytime and normally only once on a journey somewhere and other thing seems to happen when turning slightly on curved road or on a roundabout. Jiggle key and comes back on.Had this issue since owned so for last ten years now !! They live with it but something not right somewhere.
Loose power steering confuses me as pump operated from drive belt off engine ? Or electric ?
-
It does doesn't it but has to be driven for a while where if it was a faulty switch you would think this would happen from the off at some point, may be it though.
