  1. Took my IS250 in to Lexus Bolton as I think the clutch bite is too high. They looked at it but said that it was the same as other IS250's and there was no adjustment. They gave me a 220d as a loaner, and the clutch bite on that was much lower, however, I do seem to remember on my test drive of the 250 that I thought the clutch bite was a tad high (I'm 6'4" you see). Good enough, the guys at Bolton said they'd speak to Lexus GB about it and get back to me. Anyone else think the clutch bite is too high on the 250?
  2. Well, I went for the Cadoxton Slate, and the first time everyone saw it, they said 'oooooh ... love the colour' It is a pain to keep clean, but then the last car I had was black so I'm used to washing it at least once a week. Colour is a completely subjective thing. If you think one particular colour is nice and everyone else thinks it's naff, who cares. It's your car. Get the colour you want.
  3. Mine's just fine ... although the clutch bite is a tad high for my liking ... I'll get it sorted at next service. Good price that ... especially with such low mileage. Cream interior put me off too, although my grey is not much better.
  4. I have an n91 (which has the same OS as n95) and it works great ... transferred all names and numbers ... even imported both numbers for contacts with 2 entries. For those with more than 2 it created 2 entries which you can edit later. Doesn't give signal or battery info though, but I'm not bothered about that.
  5. I can honestly say that I would recommend Lexus to anyone. I started off with an IS200 which I enjoyed for 3 yrs but then I wanted something with more 'poke', sold the IS200 to my father-in-law and bought a SAAB 93 Aero. If you want a car that is very fast but rattles like a snake, understeers like it's on ice, costs an arm and leg to service and customer care is not in a dealer's vocabulary ... buy a SAAB. So after 2 and a half yrs of putting up with the SAAB I traded it for a 2nd hand (1yr old) IS250 Sport at the same dealers I bought my original Lexus from (same salesman aswell). Customer service is spot on (they even phoned me the other day to see if all was OK), car is quiet and runs like a dream (had 1 problem with the squeaky driver's seat, which was remedied while I waited). My original IS200 is still with my father-in-law, going strong and is as quiet as ever. From what I've read on the forums, most of the (serious) problems are with the diesel, so I can't comment on those, but for me ... Lexus ...
  6. But as the guy is from Staffs, he won't have gone to the same dealer as you and hopefully won't have the same trials and tribulations as you have had.
  7. Yes Iam using Lexus Stockport Any idea if Lexus Manchester or Bolton is any better ? Out of the 3 Manchester the better mate :winky: if you keep on & on & on at them, Lexus GB will take over, take you car to Lexus HQ to sort your problems for you :D Actually I've found Bolton better than Manchester and Liverpool (Liverpool nearest to home and used to work in Manchester!) Obviously Bolton, Manchester and Stockport all the same group, but can honestly say that Bolton can never do enough for you.
  8. When you switch off the ignition, the steering wheel automatically moves to fully up and fully in position. The seat does not move.
  9. Funnily enough, I had my speaker rattle fixed and a few days ago I switched the aircon back out of DUAL mode and I got a rattle ... coming from the front screen vent. So I switched the aircon back to DUAL mode and rattle disappeared ... wtf :duh:
  10. I have bought and fitted these flaps from this supplier. The rear flaps require the bumper lip to be drilled ... very easy though as it's only plastic. The front flaps require no drilling but watch out for the replacement clips they send. I could not get the whole post into the clip so I ended up giving it a few taps with a hammer and sawing off the protruding bit.
  11. There is an option to turn this off - I think it is in the Sat Nav options or maybe the screen options. Sorry can't be more helpful, not near car at the moment. Which is why I said in my original post 'And yes, I do have the auto-return function switched off'
  12. Guys, My MM system always returns to the map when another function has been used. For example, whenever I come out of reverse (reverse monitor on) it returns to the map even if the audio screen was displayed before going into reverse. Again, audio screen is displayed, answer an incoming call ... end call and it returns to the map, not the audio screen. (And yes, I do have the auto-return function switched off). I find this quite annoying especially on short(ish) journeys when I know exactly where I'm going. Anyone know of a fix/workaround? Thanks in advance
  13. Another 6' 4" driver here. I use the same seat settings as Mr. Pants .... front of seat highest, back of seat lowest. Wheel is as far out as it will go and I have the seat back so that my wrists rest on the top of the wheel. No problem with leg room at all.
  14. I recently changed (just over a month ago) from a SAAB 93 Aero (2.0T) with all the kit (Xenon's, electric everything, in-dash 6 CD, Cruise etc etc) to an IS250 Sport Multimedia and I must say I should never have bought the SAAB (changed to it from an IS200). I found the SAAB fast (too fast, which is one of the reasons I got rid) and reliable but the ride was a bit harsh and it rattled like a pensioner's teeth on a cold day (the other reason for getting rid). It ate front tyres for breakfast too, what with 210bhp going through the driven and steering wheels. SAAB customer service was OK, but not as good as Lexus as you would expect. With the IS250 I've had 1 problem (creaky seat) which was fixed without question, quickly and efficiently by Lexus Bolton. It's a joy to drive, quiet as a dead door mouse and the sound system is the best on the market IMHO. As already noted, the boot is smaller than the SAAB and the rear seats don't fold, but in all the time I had my SAAB I never filled the boot (and I have a 4 yr old aswell). In summary ... forget SAAB ... go for the Lexus
  15. I asked Lexus Bristol to fit them when it was in for it's first year service as I knew I was about to fit the new rims. They're supposed to be for the second generation IS, but I know Jamboo fitted the IS200 set from the stealership to his 220D so I'm not sure if they are a new part number or not . They do the job anyway as the new rims are (8.5" front & 9.5" rear) are wider than the OEM's (8" & 8.5") and although the offset does compensate a little the tyres stick a little further out from the bodywork so fitting them to yours should prevent the muck spreading :D Thanks mate. I'll ask Lexus Bolton next time I'm passing there ;)
  16. Hey Tango, Where did you get the mudflaps from for your new IS. I live in the country (like you, if those pictures are anything to go by) and the farmers here don't give a damn and I'm forever cleaning the ***** from the side of my IS. Proper motor, BTW :)
  17. Hmmm..what official site? Got a link so we know what you're referring to? ...and just a comment on something fishy about your sig Bernie...it should be Cadoxton Slate :D Hey Tango ... site is www.lexus.co.uk changed my signature too.
  18. Guys, Just been on the official lexus site and a survey about the site popped up, so I completed it. Might be worthwhile if you want it brought into the 21st century!
  19. Barry, What version of the DVD sat nav disc do you have? (Instructions to find this are in your SATNAV manual). Also what version are you hoping to update to? This is one thing that pisses me off about the official LEXUS site. It should have this information on there and ideally you should be able to download and burn your own DVD of the latest version. After all, this is the 21st Century!
