    Hi Guys I work for a Honda main dealer as a salesman but I drive a IS200 its a 04 so due a belt in the very near future. Now my problem is do I trust one of the mechanics to do it on the side for me or do I take it to Lexus. How hard is the job to do I am not mechanicly minded so do you think a Mechanic with 20 yrs expereince would be able to the the belt on a 200 without ever doing one before. Or do I just take it to lexus Newcastle then if anything goes wrong they have to pay for it to be fixed. Next question is what is the besr price you guys have had from Lexus to do a belt . Cheers

    I am a proud owner of a 2004 LE which has big wheels HID full leather and the cuby hole in the dash has a lid rahther than being left open.

    I sadly work in the motor trade for a Honda dealer where I bought my 04/04 le for 5700 in Nov 08. Then it proceeded to loose 1k a month glasses guide for 2 month the value has now stabalised a bit but the is200 really tooka kicking in the guides especislly with all that 400 a year yax carry on last year. I agree that 10k for 51 was a bit rich 2 yr ago mind. just keep a hold of it best way untill it will do no more.

    Hi guys, I have a 04/04 is 200 which only does 4000 a year, I changed the oil in november when i bought it and oput fully synthetic in it proper castrol stuff. I chjecked the oil the other day and it has gone dirty, I was thinking of changing it agian but the mechanic at work reckpns that the oil we put in will easy last a year as I dont do any miles what do you guys think????

    get your self on a motorway 2nd gear all the way through the rev range. then 3rd whilst in 2nd gear check for vvti swap over. should be smooth but very noticiable. bearing in mind, keep to the speed limits ;) but make sure u dont have the snow feature enabled. Listen for any ... miss fires, or anything else. when I have booted it around the twon a bit I can feel the cam switch its a bit like the vtec on Honda type r but not as powerful.

    Yeah it will crank over no bother but wont fire unless i give it some throttle then it fires

    Hi Guys, I have a is200 on a 04/04 done 46k. It has developed a intermitant starting from cold issue. every now and again (becoming more often) it will turn over fine and not fire I ahve to press the throtle to get it to fire, when it does fire it spews out a bit black grey smoke. I don't think its a head gasket issue as im not loosing any water and the oil is very clean. I only do 8 miles a day to and from work in traffic and residential roads so I don't get up to motorway speed very often. The car has a full lexus history so I imagine the plugs have been changed at the correct times. Any ideas Cheers

    Thanks guys as always you are a font of knowledge. Im on my way to look at the VIN plate now cheers. Just incase any of are interested lol the car doesnt have a LSD so therefore it must be a limited edition. with the one off grey colour and HID lights. So the next question is in the glasses guide the LE doesnt book so would you value it as a sport or a SE. ??? any thoughts

    no mate the windows are the same all round. It has Sport wheels on it which where on from New. could the 1st owner bought them as a extra. does the LSD look any different to a standard Diff. on looking about was there a sprecial edition from 04 onwards????? maybe it could be special edition

    Hui guys I have an 04/04 is200 with full leather and 17in wheels. I thought it was a sport but it doesn't have a lip spoiler on the boot. The car is totaly standard and one owner from new never mod's. Will it have a LSD ??? ot has standard HID headlights also. I know this is a really stupid question

    Hey Guys do many of you use the auto lights feature on your cars. Ive started using mine and when i drive throught a tunnel they come on although when i drive out the tunell they seems to take ages to go off. where as other cas seem to go on as soon as they enter the tunell and go off straight after. Do I have a problem or are they all like this??? Thanks Guys

    Hi mate ive just looked in my glasses guide and for this month your car trades at 4850 and retails for 6450. I think it would sell private for about 4750 for a quick sale as through the trade I think its worth 4000. To give you an idea I paid 5500 in Nov for a is200 ona 04/04 done 44k in silver its the special edition with leather etc. I love my lex I work for a Honda garaghe and drive a lex, but they don't sell anymore for good money.

    Hi Guys I have seen a lot of talk about getting your cars wim'd. I dont want to mod the car as I love it standard its a 04/04 limited edition in silver. Its done 45k I wonder where the wim place is or if there is anything like that in or around Newcastle upon Tyne. However i dont have any issues with tyre wear the car passed its MOT yesterday without a advisory note being issued and I was told all the tires are in good condidtion and not wearing on the inside. Will getting the car wim's make it a better drive, I think it drives great as it is the best car ive ever had so smooth Cheers Guys

    The IS200 Wont be 400 for the next couple of years anyway. It was going to be untill the pre budget report in Nov when the government shelved the plans to put it up. Only cars reg after 16/03/06 will be hit.

    Hi Guys just a quick one. I have a 04/04 IS200 Done 46k it has just turned 5yr old I know the the timing belt limits are 6 yr or 60k, im thinking of having it done in the near future just to be on the safe side. I Was going to do the water pump at the same time does any one think that this is a bit to soon or would you think it i sbest to be on safe side. Cheers Guys
