  1. Have spent most the afternoon trying different garages locally, and general consensus is I need a new Cat. Gutted, the flange is warped and can't make a decent seal. So going to have to buy a new one ready for MOT next week. Anyone know where I might be able to get a high-flow or stainless steel one? Depending on cost, I might use the oppertunity to get a decent one. James
  2. Nightmare mate.. Glad it's over. Good luck in the new job... (lend us a tenner eh!!! lol).. Col :winky: Sorry mate, have to work week in hand, LOL ;) And saying that just been out to the bank, and its blowing again. Can anyone shed any light on this? Why does it keep blowing? I'm using genuine Lexus/Toyota gaskets, and the two garages I have used, one of them isn't cheap! ( the one that didn't get my car stuck 6foot in the air!) Help, this is really bugging me and having the car sound like a tank. James
  3. Had a nightmare of a week with the 200. The exhaust has been blowing at the manifold - cat pipe gasket. Gone through three garages and two sets of gaskets trying to get it sealed properly. :( Been a right pain in the arse. Then to really put the icing on the cake, my car got stuck 6 foot in the air on a carlift! While at the last garage getting it fixed. Granted it ment I got it done for free, but only after 2hours of stress with my car looking like it was going to fall off ramp! LOL! One of those situation where you can laugh about it afterwards, but at the time I was pulling my hair out! Fingers crossed/Touch wood/throw salt over shoulder and any other thing you can do to be lucky, it hasn't started blowing again yet. And if it does I think i'll have to get my hands dirty and sort it myself! LOL! On a good note, started back at work this week, so got cash coming back in to start mods again! WOO!!!!! James
  4. They arn't that bad really as long as I don't crash mine (touch wood) and get a years NCB under my belt. Works out about the same as I am spending now.
  5. You putting that in the boot of yours, or are you trying to tempt me?? LOL What sort of power you expecting/got from yours??? James
  6. Yeah i have had a quick read through thread. Have considered a turbo conversion. But to do most the work myself. Could be a quicker way to get more power at a cheaper cost. I know a fabricator too, who is had a great tallent for welding staneless steel. My try get him to make the manifold LOL! Making a manifolds not just welding a few pipes, there quite a few calculations on lengths and stuff to consider. You'll have to change the rods etc anyway in the FE engine if you want more than 240-250. Engine Conversion really is the way to go. Dave's going his way because he want to see how much he can push the standard engine/block. Stav Yeah I know, I used to be an engineer. Have done diesel engine fitting on large industrial engines. If I can get some specs sizes and scalled pics, and could do the drawings for him to work off. Going to keep tabs on Dave's conversion, on cost and performance gains too. But certainly either way going to start planning now, to make sure when I do it, its going to be right. What do you think the final cost of your swap is, and what sort of power have you got? Or performance 0-60/top speed?? Cheers James It cost me £5k but he's said to do it again would be 7K, drive drive out job. As for power should have 302bhp now (from injector cycles) so power figures from here: http://letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp should be roughly: Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 302 Weight without Driver (KG) : 1650 Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 185.97 0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.84 0 - 100 (Secs) : 14.07 60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.23 Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.14 Terminal Speed (MPH) : 100.25 Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.04 Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 101.38 Like that website calculator, good find. Congrats on car, looks like it'll go like a rocket! 7K defo out my price range, thanks for info James

  8. I really like the rear lights but think they would only suit a black 200. Well nice motor, loving the wheels

  10. Use it as a way to get price down mate, then spend the cash on having a proper decent service done at a garage you trust or at lexus. If they not interested, keep looking. Plently of IS200s out there. Would defo go for a Sport model if you can find one. I wish I had with mine. James
  11. Is there much room for improvement in that set up though? My consern is i'd get all that on my engine and then either the engine dies or i'd get used to the power. And then have to go back to the drawing board and install a new engine anyway. Think the phrase is " if a jobs worth doing, its worth doing right" just have to work on funding. LOL!
  12. Err yes. If you think my conversion should be around the 8K mark including a fully rebuilt 3SGTE. It gives you some idea as to the work involved. Ahh, ok then. Thats another idea out the window, lol
  13. If i won the lotto fella, i'd do it myself! And just pay someone to help when I **** it up LOL
  14. Did actually have a look at the SR20DET, small so its defo going to fit, and loads of manovering room to get it sat right. But would not fancy trying to mate the wiring looms up! HAHAHAHA! Plus like you said loads of tuning potential. Yeah well spotted Stav, I didn't get that far down the page before I started thinking about getting it in my car! LOL!
  15. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-SUPRA-2JZGTE-...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Go on, how hard would it be to put one of these into a 200?? And at what sort of labour cost and time frame??
  16. Thanks, not bad for a first car. Could have just got a corsa or something like everyone else. But I just like to be different lol
  17. Taken car out for a decent drive today, and no sign of gurgling noise. Also notice MPG is a bit better too, only by about 3-5 but still improved. Looking forward to having the car serviced. Thanks everyone James
  18. HAHAHA! Yeah, fav passtime of mine. Nah, i'm 25 and only got licence just before crimbo. So they hit me pretty hard on insurance. Paying £1200 on mine at min. Which is harsh! But will drop next year. :)
  19. Have found a big hole in my plan I didn't consider! OPPS! INSURANCE! Yeah, looking at about 3-4 grand to insure it. Which is a little out my budget to be honest. So have to go back to looking at turbo and S/chargers me thinks :) James
  20. Wicked thanks mate! Have topped it up, but will see if that solves the problem, if not will try what you suggested! Thanks again
  21. Keighley Trade Centre- I'd do a google search on them. You may be in for a shock. Yeah, was just using that car as a quick example, and with it being close to where I live. :)
  22. I've still got the interior from mine (cloth one), so could stick that in before i trade it in, and have half leather in altezza. I didn't think about torque, but on power front. RS200 has 210, so with exhuast and induction kit, so stick it up about 220ish. Also thought internals on the 1G-FE were only good for 240bhp-ish? My basic idea is BHP per £, and an RS200 would give me the most for my money.
  23. Glad I have stumbled on this post. As I have been looking at the different ways to get more power but keep the car. Found this one on the trader. http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...icleRegLetter=S And could quite easily trade mine in for a few hundred quid and get this. And see power gains close to a S/c orr turbo. But for a fraction of the cost. Would i be missing out on anything from the IS200?? Coz could quite easily badge it as a lexus, or de-badge it altogether?? Anyone any thoughts on this??
  24. Any chance you are putting coolent directly in the radiator? That way, you will never see the "little window" show filled. You need to open the black cap on the left. AHH! :duh: Yep, i'm doing it wrong, have just been out in car so will wait till it cools down then have another go! Thanks :)
