  1. Thanks guys, just another thought, is it worth folding the electric mirrors in going through as well?
  2. Hi, The lex is starting to get really dirt ridden with the temperamental weather lately. With the spoiler is it safe to take it through an automated car wash? Don't want it flying off as they always have warnings about spoilers at the petrol stations. D
  3. Thanks Sprinter, do you know when the TRC kicks in, do any lights on the dash light up to tell you that it's working? Is it the "swervy car light"?
  4. Thanks lance, so it sounds like the mechanical torsen lsd kicks in first but if that is overcome then the electronics in the traction control would start to kick in. So no point in turning traction control off really.
  5. For you is sport or 300 guys, was just thinking on a spirited drive which tends to kick in first? Is it the lsd or traction control under hard acceleration? With just 150bhp or so and a light right foot i dont think ive had the tcs kick in before as i havent seen the swervy light on the dash flash or is it still kicking in without me knowing. Any thoughts as was considering just turning the tcs off.
  6. doh, better get some small cans, I have a long motorway trip coming next week
  7. Has anyone noticed that if you have something in your cupholder that everytime you change gear you knock the bottle over? Everything else in the IS seems to be so close to hand like the radio controls etc, but the cupholders seem to be in a poor place. Or am I using too big a bottle?
  8. Thanks everyone, any recommendations for the blue coolant and where to buy from? Some folks say you just can't rely on the colour as the blue coolant in the link says its good for 5 years not 2?????
  9. Great thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Cheers.
  10. Cheers will give this a try 35 psi all round it is then.
  11. Hi, One of my wheel arch poppers seems to be missing, any ideas where I can get a new one, it looks like a plastic grommet/plug to keep the inner wheel arch trim in place? Are they generic or do only Lexus stock them? D
  12. Usual sources as you say fleabay good place to start, try searching for breaking lexus is and try give them a ring. £60 for a full set of 5 belts isnt a bad price, thats about £12 for 1. But can see what you mean if you only need the front. Not replaced one yet but looks like 2 bolts and some trim, you will need to disconnect battery as well as its linked to the side airbag somehow I think.
  13. I know it's a right pain, try a number of timpsons I think it depends on how experienced the guy is, they always warn you the key may snap so you take your chances. Otherwise try yell.com
  14. Filled up the lex from empty for the first time tonight and it cost me close to 85quid! Wonder if I will get 400 miles or so out of the tank?
  15. Is anyone confused with the tyre pressure recommendations in the manual? So if I want to go no faster then 100mph then I should stick with the 2.3psi. But if you're always travelling faster then 100mph, then you should have 2.6psi? Why does lexus not have only 2 tyre pressures for fully loaded vehicle versus driver? What are peeps running on their is200? I've just stuck with 2.3psi.
  16. Best to check in your service manual. Its normally intermediate service which alternates with full service every other year. If you had only oil change in 2010, then now in 2012 you probably want the full service, which may include brake fluid, coolant, diff oil.
  17. Cheers thanks for that, will get the same kind in case I need a top up in the meantime.
  18. Does anyone know the weight distrubution of the Lex? Best I've found was: Weight dist front / rear, % 53 / 47 Seen a couple of folks on this forum remove the rear spare wheel for better handling but wouldn't that make the lex nose heavy?
  19. Brilliant resources there, cheers. Thanks.
  20. Was thinking of the same thing, is it ok to pass MOT as I've read you need it to be self levelling and also needs the washer jets???
  21. Hi All, Was just doing the usual check on the car and noticed that my coolant is actually blue? Searching the forum people seem to go for toyota/lexus red or pink longlife coolant. Anyone any ideas what coolant is in mine? I'm thinking it's something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluecol-U-Antifreeze-Coolant-1L-Mixes-Blue-Red-5-Year-Protection-/270842503394?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item3f0f78a0e2 Should I get this or would it be safe to add the toyota/lexus red coolant now to top it up? Any help appreciated. Cheers. D
  22. Check out opie oils, http://www.opieoils.co.uk/t-recommendations-car-or-bike.aspx enter your details and should provide some info.
  23. Don't think it would make that much difference either, unless it's something your local friendly garage can't fix, then it may be worth paying lexus prices. Also maybe worth doing somethings yourself, this forum has a wealth of info. Simple things like changing air filter and pollen filter are easy to do. I think the major service includes the diff oil change and brake fluid? It should be in the service book.
