  1. Royal steering wheels do quality work. This is the first mod I did to my IS250. This is what I had done to mine.
  2. Hi everyone, Is there any way to reduce the height of the parking brake pedal when the brake is off. I am quite a tall guy and getting my foot on the pedal to actually apply the brake can be a bit awkward sometimes. My car is an IS250 Se-L Auto. Any help appreciated. Gaz
  3. Hi Everyone, Today I purchased my second Lexus. Many moons ago I used to own an Is200 and loved it. I then went over to the dark side and purchased a Mercedes and then a 3series and have now come back. I have purchased a 2007 IS250 Se-L in Silver (Argento Ice I think) with 23k on the clock, Mark Levinson Audio, Black Leather and in almost showroom condition. So far I am loving the car, even though I have only had it about six hours lol. I need to get deep into this forum to find out tips and tricks and also the best subtle mods to do on the car, along with any preventative maintenance it may need going forward. If its like my IS200 I had it was fantastically reliable so finger crossed. Cheers everyone Gaz Ps, I shall get some pics up when I get a chance.
  4. I had mine lowered on Apex Springs about two weeks ago and I love it. Not too harsh, a lot less body roll and so much more positive to drive, just point and shoot lol. worth every penny
  5. I took the leap. Should receive my HID kit with slimline ballasts tomorrow morning. Ordered 8000k. Looking forward to joining the Hid club lol. Good Timez
  6. Lol, thanks For the heads up. Much appreciated mate.
  7. Is there any problems with fitting aftermarket hid conversion kits and mot's/the law.?? I don't wanna fit a kit and get tugged constantly by the law. Every company that I've seen that sells them state off road use only. Any help appreciated guys.
  8. Hi Guys, Just a quick heads up for anyone needing a new ignition barrell. I ordered one from Lexus Woodford expecting to pay the £80 or so that everyone roughly antisipates it costing but they only charge £57 inc vat. I ordered it on Wednesday and picked it up on Thursday. Superb service. Absolute dodle to fit too.
  9. I put the key into the ignition today and went to turn the key and steering wheel to release the steering lock but the key would not move. I could take the key out and put it back in but it just didnt move. After a swift punch (lol) it started to work and is ok at the moment but im concerned that its gonna happen again and this time not work again. I have read up on the barrell costing £80 from a Lexus Stealers and that for this price you can get the barrell cut to the key that I have already but what I wanted to know is if anyone has done this and what is the procedure. Do I have to take the key in or does the Dealers have a record of the correct key for the registration of the car and I can just ask for the barrell to be made for the registration of the car. Any help appreciated guys.
  10. Ormi, Thank you mate, A wealth of knowledge as always.
  11. Am I right in saying that you need a ball joint splitter, and when refitting the balljoint just clicks into place as the nut is tightened ??
  12. Just a quick one, When fitting new springs to my IS200 do I need to crack any balljoints or can the shocks be removed and replaced without doing so. Ive herd this is the case and have never done this before so am a little aprehensive. I have experience with tinkering with cars. I fitted a full spax setup on by bros puma this morning and before anyone says anything I know a puma is like a matchbox toy in comparison to the Lexus. lol. Any help appreciated guys.
  13. LOL, 35mm is probably too low for a Lexus in East London with the dreaded Speed hump placed about every 20feet or so lol. Sometimes when the car goes over some of the humps it catches the plastic flaps under the front bumper and the plastic pan under the car. Once I get used to the car at - 35mm im sure that wont be low enough. lol. Thanks for the heads-up Ormi.
  14. I just ordered a set of Apex Springs for the Lex. They drop the car 35mm front and back which should make it feel much better. I just have one question, Is there anything to watch out for when changing out the old springs and installing the new ones ?? Cheers guys, will upload pix when its done.
  15. Exactly the same thing happened to me. That small length of metal pipe which can only be three inches long has an "O" ring on either end and when they perish they let a small dribble of coolant out which gets more and more when revving the car. I just whipped off the little connector dooberry thingy above it which is held on by a couple of bolts and let the coolant flood out. Whipped out the pipe with some Mole-Grips and off to B&Q I went to get some "O" rings. ( it was late on a sunday, b&q was the only option). I threw everything back together and refilled the cooland and its been happy dayz ever since, that was about six months ago and touch wood theres no issues. Hope this helps.
  16. Mine sounds the same too. Its a 2001 Se with 82k on the clock and has plenty of oil in it. It always seems to sound like its coming from the side of the engine with the manifold heat shields. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp, please!!
  17. Thanks for the reply mate, I will have a look at the brakes this weekend and check that the pistons on both calipers are working evenly. I know that the pads only have one shim on each pad and understand that there should be two per pad. I have the missing ones on order. Will let you know after the weekend.
  18. Hi, I want to lower the Lex but have a couple of questions. I was looking at the Apex or Spax lowering springs, does anyone have any experience in these springs on a Lex. Also my Lex is a 2001 Se, will a set of lowering springs be ok on the existing shocks as my budget dont stretch to coilovers and there aint a kit around the £250/£300 mark that I can find. Any help appreciated guys
  19. Hi Everyone, Just a quick question. Im getting a knocking noise from the front when the car stops or when I change from drive to reverse. I know its something to do with the front brakes cos I got someone else to drive it and could hear it from that area. Ive changed the droplinks and fitted new pads and discs about 6months ago but it sounds like the pads are moving around in the calipers. Ive taken the wheel off and notice the caliper has the slightest bit of wobble on the slide pins. also the front discs seem to be able to rattle on the studs. Theres like a 1/16th of movement around the stud and when you grab the disc and give it a bit of side to side action it makes a very similar noise to the knocking im hearing. The discs were an ebay special with mintex pads (discs arnt mintex) and am just wondering whether this is normal before I go and get a mortgage to buy some original lexus ones. Just a quick note, the car passed its mot about two weeks ago so I dont think it can be the ball joints as the mot test centre is as strick as they come. Any help appreciated.
  20. Ormi, Thats cos youve got a tomahawk missile with a Lexus badge on it. Im sure you probably use Nuclear Fuel Rods and not super unleaded in your beast.
  21. Hi People, I keep getting this clunking noise from the front of the car. I have chatted about this before on here but was wondering if anyone found a definitive answer to sorting the problem of moving pads in the calipers. Im using Mintex pads and discs at the front and still get the knocking noise. Ive used plenty of copper slip and changed the clips that hold the pads into the holder on the wheel. I also have a thin metal shim that goes on each pad fitted. I still get the knocking. !! Does the brake discs have any kind of fixing holding them to the hub?? My ones just push over the studs and sit there under the weight of the disc and help in place by the pads/caliper. Just wondering if this was a contributing symptom. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thanks in advance people.
  22. I got quoted just under 80 quid for the 8 clips and 4 springs that go on the back of the pads from lexus. How bad is that. If you go to www.brakeparts.co.uk you can get a set of 4 clips for about 6quid. I just recieved some today and gonna do them at the weekend. The clips look identical to the ones on there at the momemnt though. Just thought I would add this incase anyones goin to the Lexus dealers and paying all that extra chash for the same product. cheers guys.
  23. Hi Everyone, Im gonna be delving into fitting a Sub (or two) in the boot of my Is200. I just wanted to ask a few questions from the experienced people here who have already loaded their motor with Bass. Is porting the sub through the ski-hatch the best option to get the bass into the cabin or is bass transfer into the cabin not an issue with the IS. I was thinking of going for two 12,s. Probably one of those Vibe setups, not sure if im gonna get a standard ported enclosure or bandpass but does anyone have any experience with this make of sub, especially in an IS and does it give desired results. Thanks for any responses in advance, all and any help will be appreciated. Gaz
  24. Does anyone have or knows where I can get hold of a Passenger side front foglight. I cant justify paying the £150 that some people are trying to charge on FLEBAY for them. Cheers peeps.
