  1. can you let me know too please jay , any idea how much ? are there any pics anywhere so i can have a look ? and do i have to be a gold member ?
  2. cool , i do have an i pod but its just the little shuffle one and i hate using i tunes to be honest cos its slow and you have to convert all your mp3's to aac , i have one of those tape adapters with the line in jack coming off it which does a fairly good job but going through the tape head probably lessen's the quality of the sound and i hate the wire that dangles out of the tape entry .
  3. hey man , i got a spare silver one. Hi guys, I have red calipers and currently have white decals so guess the silver ones should be okay, wonder if I could spray them white???? shall I pm you my address? do you want anything paypalling for them dude? Karl i think silver would look good on the red to be honest , in saying that i guess you could paint them without any probs , pm me your address then mate , they are just sitting there so dont worry bout any payments . hey karl , sent those decals yesterday morning ,should get them soon buddy , enjoy ! :winky:
  4. Try burning them at the slowest speed possible - this will reduce the risk of the disks failing and also make them more "hardy" towards scratching. I use all different kinds of software for burning etc - but mostly i use NTi media maker that was on my laptop when i bought it. As for CDR's I buy off the bay of e. however recently play.com have been quite good - i bought 100 TDK for £9.99 delivered bargain thanks lloyd ill check play.com out , tdk's too ! bargain.
  5. thanks nik , i used to use nero but i upgraded to windows 7 and couldnt use it anymore nero 7 was the version i think which i was running on xp what cd's did you use ?
  6. hi all i would really like a new double din head unit but i love the sound quality of the standard unit (se unit with glovebox amp and 8 speakers)so im weighing up buying one or getting a grom adapter the main reason being for playing mp3's , so for now im converting my mp3's into audio format and burning my own cd's , just thought id create a thread on this topic as im sure there is plenty of us out there doing the same. i use asda's writeable cd's and windows media player to convert and burn my mp3's onto them , now and again though the odd one doesnt work and the head unit cant read them , i know the issue isnt with my stereo as it works fine so it must be a burn error , i have tried sony rewriteable cd's and the stereo dont like those. so what writeable cd's do you guys use that work well ? what cd's have you used that dont work ? what format of writeable cd's are best -r +r etc ? what programs do you use to convert and burn your cd's ? thanks all.

  8. hey guys i had my wheels done by them and a few of my friends and i couldnt recommend them enough , their work is top notch and they are a decent bunch of lads , my only gripe was that i was told it would take around 4 days ,so i booked a week off work put the lexxy on axle stands and took all the wheels in and the spare too , it actually ended up taking them just under 2 weeks which was a bit of an arse pain lol , they told me that lexxy wheels are notorious for being difficult to shift the original coating and they had to send them to another place cos their acid wasnt strong enough , but why didnt they tell me that before i took them in ,after hearing "they should be done tommorrow mate" and "ill call you back" for over a week i did get a little frustrated with them , that was just my experience though and like i said their work is top notch and the prices are amazing , it does appear that im moaning but im just giving a warning to expect to wait around 2 weeks on average ,luckily i could get a lift to work but some people might not be as lucky if their gonna perch their lex on stands. anyway heres a pic ,still got to sort my centre caps.
  9. well it does seem that the heat affects it then mate , sounds more likely now after what you have explained , i guess the next port of call is taking out the covers although im not sure if they stick on and might leave some residue ,give it a bash mate , there are tutorials on here on how to take out the instrument cluster which by all accounts is fairly easy , again i have not done this myself though .YET
  10. oh right , i didnt know that ,im not sure then phil cos i havnt fitted any of those covers , has it only been happening since you fitted them? its just a process of elimination really.
  11. i doubt it phil , i was driving mine yesterday and it was 21 degrees and didnt have that problem , like i said mate go to lex birmingham and have your codes read .
  12. im with ya phil , and at the end of the day it helps other people out who may have the same question , iv felt that this forum seems a bit clicky sometimes , iv been accused of advertising before just because i shared some info which is what i thought this forum was about.
  13. hi phil my missus's car is doing the same at the minute , i know its not the same car but it could be the same problem , it could either be a misfire which could mean sparkplugs or coilpacks ,or the actual revmeter itself, best to go and have a diagnostic mate , have you got a loss of power ?
  14. nice looking lexxy mate , very nice , the alloys go well with the colour.
  15. A buffer is what professionals use to get a reasonable finish in a reasonable time for a reasonable charge. It is a commercial replacement for the time and hard work to do a superb job by hand which does not leave the swirl-marks you already have unless you are very kack-handed. my car had swirl marks and scratches when i bought it , im not kack handed and know the correct method to washing a car , the swirls are in the top coat that will only be removed by cutting compounds ,it can be done by hand but would take a long time and the finish wouldnt be as good , a proper detailing can take up to 10 hours , check this link out http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-gallery/info_12.html , you couldnt do what these guys do by hand.
  16. thanks for the comments guys. i agree entirely ken , i forgot to mention that its £30 a wheel if you want the tyres and balancing sorted but if you just want the wheels done without the tyres its £20 a wheel , apparently though lexus wheels are notorious for being a bugger to remove the existing coating and they had to send them to another place to be dipped in a stronger industrial acid , so the 4 day turnaround i was told ended up being just under 2 weeks , worth the time and every penny though .
  17. hi all been spending a few weeks doing some work to the lexxy and giving her a good clean and wax. fitted a set of clear fogs had my wheels powder coated gun metal grey this is not an ad: £30 a wheel at city powder coaters in digbeth b/ham , they will strip tyre ,chemical dip and shot blast them ,powder coat then laquer , then refit tyre and balance wheel i even had the spare done at that price , i painted my calipers gold , need to sort out my centre caps yet though. fitted a sport grille , didnt want to be a sport wannabe lol so i replaced the badge with a vvt-i badge ,couldnt get the grill in k green so settled with the black , what do you guys think about the colour of the grill ? , i think it looks ok as it is but i have my unsure days , i painted my horns with the gold caliper paint they stand out and obviously match the calipers , what do you guys think ?.
  18. yeah the mk1 gti , used to have a convertible , they should remake that model but keep the shape as much as possible whilst giving it an updated look (whoops getting carried away !) oh and by the way , too damn right about the is200 , im with kam05 that would be an awsome motor.

  20. thanks guys iv read about moving the buffer in an arch motion left to right about shoulder width , how much speed and pressure is something im not too sure about though , any advice on this ?
  21. hi all i want to buy a buffer and all the chemicals and pads , iv read a fair bit online on buffering techniques and compounds but would like to hear advice from you guys who have experienced buffing a lexxy as they have soft paint and what worked best , my lex has a lot of swirl marks and scratches , there is a bit of marring too dotted around , iv got a kensington green se , im not on a too tight budget but dont want to spend stupid money. what buffer machines do you recommend ? what compounds, chemicals and pads do the job nicely ? what tips , advice and experiences can you share ? thanks folks. :D
  22. mine was doing it after i put my freshly powder coated wheels back on yesterday , the disk surfaces had got a bit dirty cos the lexxy's been on axle stands for 2 weeks ,id washed it twice and painted my calipers ,so i sprayed some degreaser on them that i got with my paint caliper kit and the noise is gone , think there was some crap that managed to creep on the pads ,you could always try that baz.
  23. hi all this might sound daft and probably is knowing me , but are you sure the noise is comin from the wheel? like daz32 said its hard to locate noises when on the move particularly high pitched ones , iv noticed that my drivers side wing mirror whistles as i get to about 20mph and over , i think its the gap where it rotates when folding , i wondered what the heck it was at first but then i folded the mirror on the move and the noise changed (still whistled but the pitch changed) ,its probably a long shot but u never know.
