  1. looks the biz mate, well worth the effort, excuse my ignorance but what is a clay bar and why do you use it and where would i get one from???
  2. hello, did they say what was the cause and what they did to remedy the problem as i have the same, but mine is out of warranty. i have heard all these horror stories and i am worried about the cost of having this sorted.. any help or info would be gratefully appreciated. thanks in advance... just been in touch with lexus and they have said this is caused by the plastic expanding when warmed up and they are aware of it. the cost is £70+vat for the labour and £4.18+vat for the part.
  3. and so is the 220d its bloody awful, and the snow socks seem to be sold out everywhere i have tried...
  4. i have been using the waterless car wash stuff with the karanuba wax they have had advertised on tv, for the last 14 months or so, it really does work and gives a fantastic shine and its so effortless as it only takes me 15 minutes to polish my baby.
  5. The science behind, i really do not have a clue. however it really does work its all i have used for mirror's and windows, when we were told about it when i used to be in the army... definitely worth using.
  6. Yes, that sounds like it. But how do you mean "tyre stepping out"? If you get someone to watch the front wheel as you reverse in full lock with cold tyres you will see that the wheel/tyre 'skids' about 1/2" at a certain point and this is the bang and judder - mine was more often on the front left tyre. hello, i seem unsure as to what is being said, is this an actual fault or simply nothing to worry about, will changing the tyre's sort this out? just curious incase this happens to my car
  7. I put on the spinning ones that need a key to take off. Fingers crossed, but I haven't lost one in four years. Had them on my IS200 for eight years and the IS250 for four years and haven't had one stolen yet. Just lucky I guess. if you look around some wagons etc, you will find proper stainless steel ones and they polish up a treat. i am not condoning pinching them just borrowing them lmao
  8. Strangely that has always been my big argument against spacesavers. Off you go on holiday with all the family and a boot full of luggage.......puncture......no problem, take wheel off and replace with spacesaver. The problem then rears its head!!! The car is full and so is the boot.......so where on earth can we stow the full size wheel which we have removed from the axle due to the puncture????? Yes, like for like wouldn't be a problem. On an earlier car I was stuck for luggage space and left the full size spare at home, just carried a jack and a two tyre capacity aerosol repair pack. Needless to say I had a puncture on the motorway, late of a Sunday evening on the way back from hols, and the repair aerosol didn't fix it. That was the day I first enrolled in the AA So why oh why do various manufacturers insist on fitting spacesaver spares? I think it's more to do with weight savings. Ford, for example, offer a full size spare on the Fiesta for £30 extra....or did in November so the recess for the spacesaver is obviously big enough for a full size wheel although this is not the case with most manufacturers. maybe they fit spacesavers just to simply get joe public to shell out and buy an extra alloy??? there's a recession on you know, at least thats what they tell the reason is they keep refusing us our payrise lmao
  9. hi everyone just looking for a bit of info. can the front grille which sit under the lexus badge be replaced with a sports grille made of similiar materials and design such as the honeycomb look of the grille which sits on the lower part of the front bumper.
  10. i love the look of the pale blue colour, the rear end looks a bit smaller i hope they have revised the rear seat layout so you haven't lost anymore space off the boot. i like everything about it. nice job i think
  11. hi andy i am also from the north east, and i love my lexus despite reading all the comments about them being crap for want of a better word. how are you finding it..
  12. When I owned an IS250 the front and rear tyres were of different widths, so could only get it right for one of them (unless willing to carry two spares . . . . . ). There is a low probability of needing the spare, so I would leave well alone. to everyone who replied, thanks i have decided to leave it well alone and opt for sticking with the space-saver unfortunately.... absolutely loving my lexus, amazing its a step up from my vw bora which is an ultra reliable motor...
  13. Why bother? I've had my 250 SE-L for four years now and the space saver has never been used. If it has to be it's only to get you home or to the nearest tyre services. i know this might sound a bit strange but i like everything to look right... sad or what???
  14. hi all, i have just took receipt of my lexus is220d and i am loving it. unfortunately it came with a spacesaver spare wheel..... yuk. can i replace it with a standard alloy wheel and tyre or must i stick with this awful spacesaver? thanks in advance for any help!
  15. hi everyone this is my first post/reply. i found the loc buying simply google-ing lexus faults and here we are .
