  1. Edwinstowe to be precise! :P Theres a car on PH that seems a decent price which I like the look of... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1550154.htm Just wondering if anyones near it that could maybe have a quick poke around it as its a long old way away from me! Bit cheeky, but thought I would just see! :) Bruce
  2. You should be able to tell if the pads need replacing by just looking at them! You should be able to see how much pad is left! If your not sure, im sure if you nipped into kwik fit they should be able to advise you free of charge! Bruce
  3. So are the classes likely to step in line with each other? So that all IS200's either before or after March 01 will be the same?
  4. Are you sure its not just due to the air being so cold?! It does it on my van, but ive noticed its only when its real cold outside!
  5. I think the only reason they look dirty is bacuase the wheels were dirty when they were photoshopped! lol
  6. Another thig worth mentioning is that a filter and exhaust system will reduce mpg considerably for not a lot of power! I thought the IS200 sounded pretty nice from the factory! :)
  7. The mods all sound pretty decent! Their such a pretty car anyways they dont need bodykits!
  8. The fella rang back today and said that he had put it up on the ramps, and the brakes were fine. He said he took it for a spin and mentioned there was rust on the disk which could be causing it, but I poinnted out to him that if it were the case it would still mean the car needs a new set of disks and pads upfront... He wiggled a bit saying they looked pretty new anyways and that it will just rub off! Which we all know isnt the reason the car was jolting! Im going to leave that car, but have been offered what seems a decent deal on a members car, so hopefully everythings up together and i'l be the owner of a sorted 200 by the end of the week! :)
  9. I think I may hold out as like someone previously mentioned... theres something in the back of my mind that isnt sure... And Wahid, there seems to be plenty of decent manual 200's on the market, but the auto ones seem to hold their value more! Cheers for the advice people :) Its always good to see what other people would do in your situation and youve all been a great help :)
  10. Any idea on how much a set of these usually go for? They look 10x better than the 17's!
  11. I cant see him going below 4k as it seems to be a lot of car for the money! I really like the car, but ive forgotten how hard it is to part with your hard earned!
  12. Just back from seeing the car again, and it drives lovely! After flicking through the warrenty book I noticed the last couple of pages were the service section... I assumed it would have a seperate Service book like my old car which led me to believe it didnt have any history! The last service was a couple of years ago, and it has stamps up to 58,000. After that the boxes were empty so im led to guess the last owner either a) didnt get it serviced or B) done the work themselves as the dates match up. The hpi is clear, and after bringing up the old mots on the comp the records were showing the car has only had 5 advisories of which 4 of them were tyres worn on the inside edge! The other one was in 2007 which was a slight judder in o/s rear disk. Everything works, and all the panels are the same colour. The n/s front wing has been sprayed near the headlight, but their doesnt sound as if theirs any filler in there and nothing under the bonnet or wheel arch appears to be bent! Overall im seriously temped, but may try knocking another couple of hundred quid off for a wheel refurb as the laquer has peeled on all 4! The only other thing is there was again a slight judder when you initially applied the brakes, but it was only for a split second when you push the brake pedal. Anyone able to shed any light on this or does it sound pretty normal? It may of been in my head as I was looking out for any slight fault?
  13. This one also has no service history :( http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv...c&logcode=p Seems like its bit of a trend when it comes to traders!
  14. At £4000 and with 75,000 miles it seems a real good price! Maybe if I spent £500 on a good service, waterpump and cambelt thats a sorted car for £4,500... I set my budget at 5k, and prefferably wanted one under 100k. Without traveling to far im struggling to find a well specced one under 100k!
  15. Looks 10x better! Blacks always such a hard colour to look after as it seems to show every swirl mark! Looks spot on mate :)
  16. Also another thing, should the car have a 6 disk changer as standard? Or was it an extra option?
  17. He phoned up this morning saying he will take 4k for it! Would you be tempted or think I should stay well clear? Going to go take it for a test drive anyways to see how it drives, and im not overly bothered about resale as im planning on keeping it for a few years whilst the little un' grows up! When I come to sell it on, it will prob be worth peanuts anyways so thats not such an issue!
  18. Couldnt they spray the centre cap to? :S Wheels and calipers look real smart though! 8)
  19. Budget tyres on an everyday car such as an IS200 are fine! Its like anything, they all have to meet certain ratings, testings etc... The only difference between a budget tyre and your everyday bridgestone will be road noise, life longativity and maybe a certain amount of water displacment! At the end of the day, if you drive your car on the limit in road conditions, Yes... go for expensive rubber. At 30 mph in the real world, it wont make **** all difference what rubber you have on ya car! Just my POV of course... although I have been fitting tyres for nearly 10 years now!
  20. Im actually quite looking forward to getting mine and giving it a good clay and decent polish. As you say, its a really rewarding result! Especially if its a sunny day and you have a few beers whilst doing it! :P
  21. Well I went and looked at it, and it was in fairly decent condition. Needed the wheels refurbed, a few light scratches which will polish out although I didnt take it for a test drive due to the fact the car didnt have any service history at all!!! He said its got to go and he would knock £500 off the price, but I was more after a grand knocked off. £300 for the cam belt, £150 for a decent service and £200 for a wheel refurb! He didnt go for it, but I left him with my number and said if you change your mind then I'l be interested... Back to the Autotrader in my search!!!
