  1. Fantastic thanks true blue. I'll be honest.. I like playing around with cars, but am not an expert by any standard however following your instructions it took me less than 1/2 hour. The longest time taken was actually finding an old ring spanner to use as a spacer when pulling the stud back through. so...total cost to me 2.47... great.
  2. Hi all, after my rescue company broke their own record to get to my wife and our flat tyre, they then managed to over torque and shear one of the rear studs/bolts on my is200 sportcross..not a happy customer. As i appear to be doing nothing but spending money on this car, I appreciate that I need to go to Lexus to get a new bolt, but is it an easy DIY job to replace the bolt, or am I going to have to go to a garage? Summer hols are here.i need the car and some cash left over to keep the littleuns happy,so any guidance would be appreciated.
  3. i have just paid 80 for Mintex Discs and Pads. Mintex pads are pretty tough and if not married to a substantial disc, will wear the disc quickly. The add states its mintex pads only. The discs are unbranded. If it were me, I would look for blue print, branded or oem parts. if there's one thing you need to do in a car, its stop....
  4. does anyone recommend the usage of a relay harness? the kit i am looking at does not have one, relying on the original wiring harness to light the hid's up. I have got to ask, is the original wiring upto the job / ampage of the hid's on original light up,. I dont want to be frying the electrics and switches unnecessarily
  5. thanks parthiban i think i will order some and see how things go. was wondering whether adjusting the height of the lights may help reduce the glare to oncoming traffic.. else i will just plead ignorant. just worried myself by reading the following..http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps
  6. Do you really need to fit anti glare? is this a legality or modification thing? i'm interested in fitting HID's to my 2003 sportcross, but dont want to be driving illegally or being flashed up every 5 mins by blinding the oncoming traffic. So whats the deal with these kits. Are they good/road legal or not?
  7. Hi all, have been looking at various kits to gain me Bluetooth support for my mobile phones, but also to get me Ipod control/support, have found a couple of options, but am not sure which way to go. I've seen the Parrot Mki9200 which does both and appears good and costs around £200 , I have seen your references to the Grom Audio adapter which is Ok and only costs around £75, but means whilst I retail my original head unit I lose phone support, so I still need a bluetooth adapter, and then......... I have just found the Pioneer and Jvc range of DVD AV units. I must admit for a few extra £££££s I do like the look of the single din Pioneer AVH5100BT £500, but more realistically, the Pioneer AVH3200Bt or jvc kw-avx830 will be in my price bracket. Both units are double din So.... does anyone have any experience of the parrot kit or the pioneer/jvc units..I'm really erring towward the Pionner 3200Bt as it supports DVD and Phone and Ipod...what more can I ask?
  8. OK, so I tried to swap the discs out this weekend. Darn it the calliper carriers felt as if they had been welded in place. Anywho, after spending out on some new axle stands as well as a new breaker bar, + 2 hours in what felt like 90 degree heat, i gave in, waved the white flag and opened a cool beer. never been defeated before. gutted. car now booked into a local garage next week..Miffed.
  9. Having read some of the fabulous guides to replacing front discs and pads on is200's on this forum, i thought i would give it a go this weekend as under heavy braking my steering wheel wobbles and there is also a deep enough lip on the front discs to enable me to use them as a soup bowl once removed. So. This morning I ordered a set of mintex discs and pads off fleabay for 90 quid delivered and thought I will try to swap them out myself this weekend using your guides. Before i start however i need to understand the torque settings for the 2 bolts on the callipers and also the 2 bolts on the calliper carriers. Any ideas? Thanks
