  1. I am sorry you have had problems as it gives LPG motoring a bad name and it isnt. Its no hassle having an LPG system installed as long as it is installed correctly. Sadly in this country anything that is new like LPG installation and every cowboy including John Wayne starts up a con business ripping off as many people as they can. I know the people I always recommend, Profess has recently installed another LOC members LS and it has a problem but this looks like its a componant failure which is no ones fault other than the company that made the componant and I have full confidence that Profess will sort it out quickly and to the LOC members full satisfaction. One day they will bring in the same type of scheme that gas installers in your house have to beong to and that is Corgi Registered and if your not then you commit a criminal offence. Happy LPG motoring Mike
  2. Hi Geoff and welcome to The LOC as you have seen demonstrated we are a friendly and some of us very knowledgeable bunch of like minded people. 3. Its been on here many times. Modern cars do not need Flashlube. Installers know this. If you had a car that needed Leaded Petrol as opposed to Unleaded petrol then yes you could have one fitted. Mike
  4. Ask about the Lap Top cable so you dont have to go down to have it serviced. Mike
  5. Seems its been deleted from Youtube but here is another link to the program.http://www.ovguide.com/tv_episode/wheeler-dealers-season-4-episode-11-lexus-ls400-part-1-376141 Remember once its been posted onto the interweb its there almost forever, I just googled it. Mike
  6. Good luck, shame you have another trip down to Wales but I know they will sort it for you. Mike
  7. Hi. Yes you are right about Wheeler Dealer, have a look through Youtube as its on there. Mike
  8. Welcome to The LOC where a collection of varied people have one thing in comman and that is of course the Lexus LS. The worlds finest luxuary car. There is an LOC meet on Sunday 5th May, heres a link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80199-east-midlands-area-meet-sunday-may-5/ Give your name to Ian plus the number of people that might be with you. Would love to see the car. Perhaps you could post some pictures in the meantime just to keep us ticking over. Mike
  9. hi there, i've just joined this forum today after purchasing an ls400 after much searching, the reason for replying to your topic is that my sister lives on the isle of man and it was her that got me into these when she came over 2 years ago in hers and gave me the keys for a week. i tried the link to the auto trader but the car was no longer available but was wondering if it was the same car ?? the colour of hers was green but looked more like gray to me, it had black leather interior and the mileage was 65000 miles, she sold the car to someone else on the island as at the time i wasn't in a position to buy it off her. was it the same one i wonder ?? cheers Mike. Hi Mike, Welcome to the LOC forum, we are a friendly and some a very knowledgeable bunch. Most problems can be solved. We do like to see pictures of members cars to sit and salivate over, yes some of us are a bit weird. There is an LOC meet on Sunday May 5th, heres a link to it http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80199-east-midlands-area-meet-sunday-may-5/ Just give Ian your name and how many of you likely to turn up. Enjoy what we've known about for years and that is if its not a Lexus its just a car. Mike
  10. I am sorry to hear you have got this problem. I have never had a problem with any install they did for me and I know several friends who have installs by them, all without problems. The boss will be fuming when he gets to hear about it. As for the Gas Guage no one takes any notice of them. I have never had one that was acurate and mine like yours shows empty at 200 miles and still has around another 140 miles left in the tank. Good luck with the problem I know he will sort it for you. Mike
  11. I will keep my eye out for one. I replaced me passenger door without any problems from a doner car. Took them only 10 mins to change the wing mirror over. Mike
  12. Sorry to hear that my man. I have wondered a couple of times where are you, I miss the banter. Good luck with what ever happens and look forward to having you back with another Lexus. Mike
  13. You often get genuine Lexus parts on Ebay from broken motors, there are a couple of them on there at the moment. Mike
  14. Are you talking about the cost of just servicing the LPG system or an engine service?? Profess now will sell you a cable that you plug into your Laptop and car (about £30) communicate with Profess through your Laptop and they can read and adjust any parameters that need adjusting. If fuel filter is needed they just pop that in the post, takes only a couple of mins to fit new filter, link up with Profess again and they again just check all the parameters and adjust if necessary. All done no need to pay them a visit. Mike
  15. That sounds about right. I have a mate of mine who was a lover of the various Mercs and Beamers he had, though he always moaned about the cost of the repairs to even 3 or 4 year old German motors. Took him out one day in my MK2 and he fell in love, so he now owns a Mk3, and persuaded another mate to get a LS400 (so one less 7 series driver out there). But having a chat with my mates the other day, it was not just that LS400 was cheap to buy and run, but that it is such a lovely car to drive compared to the brutal feel you get from the Merc/BMW. Only reason he still has Mercs is because as company director driving a car over 15 years old just does not fit the image. So he only gets to enjoy real driving at the weekend. I dont know to me it shows the guy has individuality and is not bothered about keeping up with the Jones's also to the companies he is selling too they dont see their money wasted on new cars. I have a mate who has a Reliant Robin and swears by them, I admire him, he is a character, he also laughs all the way to the bank as it costs him almost nothing to run it. Mike Strangely enough I saw a Reliant Robin yesterday (or plastic pigs as we used to call them), and it got me thinking. Well for all of about 2 minutes and then I realised that with the state of the roads around here, the darned thing would probably fall over on it's side as you tried the slalom technique to avoid the craters. So the LS is safe for a while yet. The strange thing is that the romantics amongst us male & female will happily sit in front of a TV and watch programs set in Provence, Brittany and Burgundy where the three wheeled vehicles are plentyful in various shapes and disguises and you can here them sighing and saying isnt that wonderful such a much slower pace of life and all together more enjoyable, but ! why cant they enjoy it here with the same three wheeled vehicles? We now have plenty of pavement Cafes where we can enjoy a bloody awful cup of coffe at enourmous cost and a Gitanes or Gauloise cigarette so why dosent it transfer to here ???

  17. My wife is not what you would call a Petrol Head, she prefers small cars and as long as it starts 1st time every time shes not bothered. When I got Lexie nearly 3 years ago she did say how quiet it was and that was about it, then came the day she had to use her and low and behold an Epihany she suddenly realised what Lexus was all about and she fell instantly fell in love with her. Mike
  18. Yep most women look at badges first before anything! oh its a BMW, Its a Mercedes so it must be good... it looks flashy!! Then its our job to educate them. Mike
  19. You can make those things say anything they want. Everyone of them say a different thing. They never asked me when I owned a troublesome Merc etc. I think if you were to ask for only Lexus cars over 10 years old they would be at the top. The trouble with alot of cars as well as other retail products is that they have an inbuilt life which runs out just after the warranties have finnished. Early Lexus were built to survive nuclear war which is not true of newer Lexus. Mike
  20. Dont forget Hydrulic suspension Exhaust manifolds cracking Two water pumps in 3 years, suspension leg spring broke, I'm getting depressed just writing about it. Mike
  21. My local garage laughed as well. Mike Fair comments, but it reminds me of the amount of times a mechanic has said he can replace the cam belt on an LS for £200 without even knowing what's involved. However you look at it, it increases the labour time, therefore the cost. When I had head gaskets replaced (Jeep M Benz Vauxhall Omega) its never been a problem and they all had LPG fitted at the time. Mike
  22. Oh dear. Still it will make a nice change for you getting to look under the bonnet a lot more than you ever have with the Lexus. Mike
