  1. In this forum people seems not study, but all the answers of your problems are around in the forum. So i repeat very fast for the 1000 time )) - to solve turbolag: install Sprintbooster from Boulekous Dynamic, 250 euro but solve the problem: pay attention, if u run the car with button in red position, it can be dangerous when wife goes to supermarket )) - problems with EGR, DPNR, 5th inj., dirty recyrculation of vapor oils, etc etc, look the related topics. In general u need to make little modifications to that circuits; if u leave the car as it is, and u simply go to Lexus leader trying to solve problems u will always perpetuate them and spend a lot of money for nothing. This car is not worst not better then any other turbodiesel Euro 4 or more, like BMW or Mercedes....it has same problems connected to Euro normatives and antipollution circuits which destroy the car. A car like this which runs for it first 100.000 km without solve problems as i told above, will loose inevitably many of its power and torque, because the engine will be completely full of dirty ***** inside. Try to think....how to avoid that pollutions goes outside he car? Simple!! retain them inside the engine and solidificate them inside all that circuits like the EGR, DPNRs, etc etc. A modern turbodiesel engine is not exactly something "reliable" for many reasons, mechanical, electronical...but use your brains and u ll have a reliable and more powerful car ;)
  2. Hello. U arrived at the right moment to keep off all your problems. Here in the forum u will find procedures to show to a normal good mechanic to: - keep off dpnr and substitute it with a normal piece of tube and an electronic FAP emulator; - close the EGR circuit using diversion off fresh air taken after compressor (look the topic "close EGR circiut"); - install an oil catch can and avoid recyrculation of vapor oils inside the air manifold pre turbo (there is a topic dedicated to this problem with photos of typical solutions). After these works your car will run very well and clean. Bye
  3. When your mechanic will tell u what exactly u need to change, take a look to prices on internet, in Ebay for example, u should find surely better prices ;)
  4. So my personal final votation, in a audiophyle logic: 5/10 not more.
  5. Hello. From around one year i have installed on my Lexus this tunig box from italian brand CNTECH. It works fine, with no problems, and good price: http://www.moduliaggiuntivi.com/centralina-aggiuntiva-lexus-is220d-177cv-p-2023.html
  6. just try to do a more clean job then the guy made on his Subaru )))
  7. opsss, sorry if i answer so late to u, but saw your post only now: u can do as u prefer, i reconnected the exit of the oil tank to the air-pipe...but actually i should do as u said: put a piece of tube that send oil on the street: the quantity of oil vapors that comes out from the tank is very very little.
  8. ...and to not mention the very bad proposition of bass frequencies, so quantitative but absolutely not qualitative: it's impossible to listen the line of any chord instrument, like an electric or acousitc bass (( all bass frequencies under 200 Hz sounds only as one big bass at the mechanical frequency of resonance of the bass system.
  9. The sound of the simple system installed in my old Lexus IS200, which was a Fujitsu-Ten, if i remember well, was much better (more natural, more solid, without listening fatigue) then this ML system. I made a test with a dear friend, just to share impressions about it, and he agree to say that the systems sounds very dry and un-natural (this guy write articles on one of the most famous journals dedicated to hi-end DIY in Italy). One of the big problems is that the front central channel is always to much invasive, another is that the music is to much balanced on the front loudspeakers, even if u turn the fader totally on the rear side....Bah.
  10. Hello sorry if a little out of topic, but just to say that i'm very disappointed from the low quality of my Mark Levinson audio system. It's always sounds completely un-natural, like a blade, very dry, and even at low levels of volume produces a big listening fatigue...at high levels i cannot listen for more then 5 seconds or my head start to turn round. A loosen opportunity for Lexus. I know that the brand Mark Levinson, from many years nothing has in common with Mr. Levinson, it's simply a brand used from Harman Corporation, but i was very unhappy to find such bad performance. PS: I'm an audiophile and i have 2 hi-end home systems for home listening. Funny little story: when i bought my IS220D i returned the car to the dealer, because i supposed the hi-fi system was broken...after one week, they said all was perfect, so i asked to listen the HI-fi system of another new car like mine...we went into a car that was in exposition, we sit, i tried to listen some of my CDs, and surprise, thta system was even worst then mine )) Pity.
  11. Today i found this funny way to disactivate the EGR circuit, posted on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCzXQ0dVHis Naturally, please don't do that, it's a stupid way, as the optimum Fonserg's comment says in Youtube, with his russian/english ))) Air must be taken after compressor, so it will be in positive pressure and not before compressor, as this guy did in the video ))) ohhh a lot of mistakes in this solution.
  12. Agree with Fonserg. This is the valve swichting regulator, and works in the variable geometry circuit of turbine Compressor.
  13. Blow off valve on turbodiesel don't have any sense. It's not a turbo benzin, so no dangerous overpressures after compressor when u close gas. U can install just for reproduce typicall pop off rumble of a turbo benzin....it's an electronic device made expecially for turbodiesels. Not interesting and bad taste...even if i admit that a Lexus with pop off sound should be very funny ))
  14. Hello ibruxxx. Here in Italy we have omologation on IS220D for these measurements: front. 225.40R18 rear. 255.40R18 I don't remember the ET (Offset) of suggested wheels for this car, which is very important to decide if the wheel+tyre will risk to touch or not some parts of body of car during motion. If the ET of that set of wheels is the same of original sets of IS220D 18" wheels, u are sure that they works fine, if it's more little...should be not sure..and u should check one of them on the car before buy. Anyway 235 mm largeness seems little measure behind, and big in front off the car, in my opinion. Remember anyway that with 7J canal u'll be not able to install tyres more large then 235 mm... for this u need almost 8J...like the original 18" wheels for this car. On my car i have measurements i told u above, with 8J wheels and 40 mm Offset (ET). U can see pictures of them in the topic "Engine tuning on Lexus IS220D". they works fine even with 30 mm shorter EIbach springs...and the offset could be also little then 40...i think 30 minimum should be good, and the wheels should be more near the border of body of car. Bye.
  15. the reason for which i installed W/m injection was exactly this: obtain the same effect in more economic and simple way. BUt yess i don't exclude in the future if i'll find some not expensive intercooler to install it in front off the car. Thanks for link ;) Anyway our general problem is the impossibility to remapp ECU to take advantages from these mechanical improvements like bigger intercooler, free exaust, free sportive air filter....and so on.
  16. Hello. Someone here knows about this leader in strutbars for stiffening and improve handling of the car? This Malaysian firm, Ultraracing, produce also accessories for our IS. Look here, seems very interesting: http://www.ultraracing.my/Catalog.asp?Brand=Lexus&Model=IS%20250&page=1 I would install the front strut bar and the front anti roll bar on my IS220D, i'm studying about this ;) prices are very very good...
  17. So after have done around 900 Km i can post my very good impressions about this D2 braking system. The power stop is really strong, nothing compared to original set up, and instead Emanuele (EMA Motorsport that mounted the kit) said the braking system should be very strong and noisy during his action, i was expected much more noise. Also fading (with D2 sportive pads, which he reccomended me, instead of racing pads) is absolutely tollerable, maybe less then original. The brake is also very progressive. Conclusion: 9/10
  18. At this prices, better install a big brake racing kit of D2. Look in my topic about this braking system and photos.
  19. Install Sprintbooster and lag will disappear ;) without Sprintbooster the car seems simply broken. Check in your country who sells it, money well spent ;) i paid around 230 Euro on italian webshop.
  20. Look above, i posted the link. U can buy on internet with credit card and receive at home. Then u need normal mechanic to mount it.
  21. I have chipbox from CNTECH (CR6-SB) italian brand and Sprintbooster, and W/m injection (Devilsown) and other tricks (FAP emulator, closed EGR with turbo recirculation, vapor oil tank, etc...)...the car runs VERY well....bigger turbo should need probably a remapp to work properly, so i'm waiting that guys from Alientech should be able to remapp this ECU. Starting to play with compressor without be able to remapp is dangerous.
  22. So, about tuning, go to the section "Brakes and suspensions" where i posted photos of my new front D2 racing brakes. If u give more Power to the car, u need also more braking power ;)
  23. i have a gear knob from Sparco which is right for the car. It's simliar to the old ball looking knob of the IS200 benzin car, but at the top there is the write "Sparco" in carbon look. Price in Italy about 60 Euro. Let me see a link to the website where i bought....mmmm..HEre is it: http://www.ricambituning.it/products.asp?id=36 I bought the model "Sparco Globe_R" price 50.88 Euro. It looks very nice on the car ;)
  24. I installed these disks 2 months ago but i was not able to find good pads, the real good ones can be Hawk Performance pads from USA but too much expensive buy and sell here. So i installed TRW pads, but the performance is very bad. One week ago i decided for total replacement with D2 big brake kit. U can see it in my new topic.
