  1. Taken it to two mechanics so far both say it's noisy injectors After a bit of googling it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one.. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=66741
  2. Okay cheers guys, do you reckon running it like this will cause any damage or is it just case of it sounding crap?
  3. Lol that's the only good thing about the exhaust- it drowns out the tractor noise. What do you recomend doing mate, should I try a diffrent oil? If it is wrong clearences how would this be resolved? It's driven pretty happily like it for 3.5k now so surely if it was oil starvation the engine would have been curtains by now?
  4. It's always sounded like this mate I've put around 3.5k on the clock- I've always known it was there just only recently started paying attention to the noise. No lights on dash no, I haven't checked the plugs to be honest no. If it makes any difference there is no misfire or hesitation and the car pulls well and doesn't feel down on power.
  5. Howdie folks, Can you kindly take a look at the video I have just taken, It's of my IS200 - It sounds quite tractory I think, the Oil is fine and quite new and has recently had service and cambelt. It's on 83k. P.S: Excuse the dodgy camera handling, I was trying to find the bonnet rod as well as recording! Also a quick video of how it sounds from the outside is here. (You can also hear the tapping noise slightly too.)
  6. Cheers buddy- DIY jobby. TBH the headlights have seen better days the lenses are scratched and corroding a bit.
  7. Sounds reasonable mate- I'd say list it for £3200 and be prepared to have offers ranging from £2800-£3000. Also what I will say is I think I got a bit of a bargain at £2400 and mine is also a manual, I think autos go for more so you should get £3k I reckon.
  8. Where you based matey, it does make a diffrence- I'm from London and I always travel up North to buy my cars. If it's any help I paid £2,400 for a X reg IS200, mint condition, FSH, 81k. But it was up for £2,800.
  9. Cheers mate, I was actually looking at the TRD front lip, The spoiler I had in mind is this one below, I would color code it silver rather than Off Road Grey. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-IS300-99-FIBRE-GLASS-FRP-REAR-BOOT-SPOILER-/350287777413?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item518ec74e85#ht_2514wt_1139
  10. I can say from my experience they are a decent bunch, used to have a store near me. Better than Halfords.
  11. Hi guys, I've been lurking on the forums for a few weeks now- I picked up my IS200 for £2400. It was originally going to be my 'sensible car' as I also have a Celica GT4- But I am really pleased with it and actually use it more than the Celica. For a ten year old car it drives spot on (well now WIM has had a play around with it!) It's also low mileage at 81k. I am pretty sure it's been treated to a full re spray as the paintwork is pretty flawless also. I am looking to do a few bits and pieces to it looks wise but I am pretty happy with it as it is. This is how it is currently... Silver w/ two-tone VW 'Off Road Grey' paint Smoked rear lights Carputer Lowered 50mm HID Dipped beam HID Fog lights Jap backbox Lip style spoiler Sport grille Full tints all round (...Well rears only if you happen to be a police man ;) ) Possible Plans... Larger spoiler Full exhaust system Coilovers New alloys I really welcome your feedback and also your views on a scooby style color coded spoiler, would this be too over the top? It's already pretty larey for a Lexus so don't want to over do it. Also for anyone thinking of fitting a aftermarket back box, a small video of the car can be heard here. Thanks for your time :)
  12. Hi Talisker, Sounds like a bit of a plan there mate- When you say between shifter and gearbox do you mean underneath the gaitor?
  13. Has it been lowered? Either your struts are shot or you need a full alignment check buddy.
  14. Good job there bud. What's the finish on them like is it really silky so the dust will just hose off? My front brakes kick up a ridiculous amount of brake dust- takes like two days for the front wheels to go black.
  15. What sort of screeching are you getting mate, did you make sure you applied copper slip on the back of the pads?
  16. Hey guys, My IS200 has a short shifter installed, I love it only thing I would love to change is the road noise that it puts out. This was installed before I got the car so I don't know what fitting it entailed did the previous owner need to remove lots of sound deadening, also more importantly is there anything I can do to improve it? Cheers
  17. I think it's a bumper off job buddy, I may be wrong tho.
  18. Took it to WIM fixed within the hour car now handles like a dream. Nothing bent, suspension fine. Merityre = ****. As tempting as it is be prepared to travel for a decent geometry setup as most places don't have a clue. Cost me £85 to find that out.
  19. Cheers guys, booked in a wheels in motion tomorrow :)
  20. I'm not sure mate- tbh I've only just noticed it is missing now you've pointed it out. Which one is the camber bolts mate I will try spraying them up myself- do you reckon this is all what it causing the problems then? I think it's best I take a trip to WIM after I've got them free. And cheers :) will be even better once I've sorted the steering out! P.S: Thinking about it now- All bolts he was trying to free he managed to do in the end btw so I am not sure if the camber bolts are still seized?? He said something about not being able to dial the right in enough? Confused lol.
  21. And it's not the driver before any wise guy says. :winky: Basically I've only had the car a few weeks and inherited this problem. The story goes to drive in a straight line I need to compensate with steering at the 1'OC position. this is rather annoying coupled with the fact the car is also pretty sketchy at high speed. It has been lowered 50mm on stock shocks. I took it to various places no one would touch it because of it was lowered, finally found Merityre who would do it so they put it on their machine and the bloke was proper struggling as the bolts were seized indicating it had never been done after the springs were originally added! They noticed it was sitting lower on one side slightly, they checked and it had all the same springs on. They basically corrected it to the best they could, below is a before and after print out. The car does feel a lot better but it is still not perfect and where as before I had to drive at the 2'OC position to go forward it's now at the 1'OC. One thing I have noticed, (later on, so I didn't mention it to Merityre) I can fit four fingers between the rear bumper and wheel one side and the other it's very tight which leads me to believe the wheels aren't inline- surely they would have picked up on this when doing the alignment though? Before After Car
  22. Cheers mate, I thought it was too high for 50mm! I might just try ride it out (excuse the pun) for a month or so and buy a set of coilovers so I can drop it properly.
  23. Maybe it's killed one hence the imbalance? Yeah I did briefly but I thought it would be a simple case of wheel alignment as he said it wasn't done.
  24. Hmm good one, is there anyway to tell without taking them off? I am hoping this is just a case of the springs and not a deeper lying problem like it's been in a crash or something as I love this car. Would slightly uneven spring heights cause the steering wheel to be misaligned? It has had a 4wheel alignment they said they done it the best they could but couldn't correct it fully due to the height difference.
