  1. How difficult is it to replace the cable from the heater control valve in the engine bay to the temperature control on the dashboard ?
  2. Not as stylish as the IS?? You're on shaky ground here..lol I get around 30mpg from mine. Last weekend we went on a 200 mile drive around the Scottish Peninsulas and she returned 33mpg! 28 - 32 on a long run I have just gone to Wales and back from Hampshire a round trip of 396 miles and returned 33.7 add to that I run on LPG giving me an equivelent of 67.4 mpg as I only pay around half the cost of petrol. I will forgive the remark on styling as I gather you havent yet been bitten by the what is the LS400itus. Oh how I love my Lexus. Mike
  3. You got to credit the guy for presentation and editorial. So refreshing to see a comprensive advert from those who have trouble stringing more than 6 words together and just include a picture of somebody elses car which is a completely different colour and model from the one they will never sell. Mike
  4. Always walk if you are not happy and there is something that doesnt sit right with you. There are some real corkers out there and many that dealers have that they will be only to happy to start knocking the £'s off with Petrol rising on what seems an hourly bassis. Good luck I will keep my eye out for you ands PM with anything I find. Regards Mike
  5. How easy we forget and take new things for granted very quickly. Mike
  6. I don't know if anyone else experiences this but I have always found that driving a car with a large engine seems to have a calming effect on the way you drive. No point blasting away from traffic lights as there is nothing to prove to other road users as most know your driving a car with a powerful engine yet when I drive my sons car which is an Focus RS ST whatever, you know what I mean, Init, Model in Black, has completely the opposite effect on me and all I wont to do is but my foot down and start proving myself and the car. Theres nothing in the car telling me to do this and theres nothing in the Handbook either. When driving the Lexus you are cocooned in leather and wood, couple that with the smooth powerful acceleration and immediately your foot treats the loud pedal very gently making fuel last a lot longer and everything is right with the world. The calming effect works at double the rate on me as my LS400 also runs on LPG so not even expensive at todays record petrol prices. Would be interested to find out if this calming effect is the same for other people as well. Mike
  7. The only good thing about the advert is the owner guarantees there is only one like it. Those of a nervous disposition are warned not to look unless they have someone with them to administer anti depressants. 8. Monies no object. If you were granted one wish what one thing would you change on your Lexus LS400????? :P Also what is the one thing you hate to see being altered on a Lexus LS400??? Mike
  9. What a beauty. You cant ever get fed up with Good Design and quite often you cant better it. I am waiting for a good spell of weather and I shall take some pics of mine and post some. Mike
  10. Can you post some pics of yours? I agree its way over priced but how many of these out there with such a low mileage. I am sure there's plenty of room for negotiating. Even of you paid £4K into the equation then bring all those years of trouble free years motoring it would still be cheap. Mike
  11. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2368392.htm If any one's looking for a new or replacement car you could do an awful lot worse than buy this beauty. Mike
  12. You could always fit a 120 litre tank aswell & have 205 litres :D You must have a very heavy right foot I get 220 round town & 280 on the run from 56 litres, more if I pussy foot it. But you have a mkIV. More economical :) Anybody recommend a system and fitter for a 1995 Mk3 round about the Bury/Manchester Area ? Forget all the rest and go straight down to Profess Gas just the other side of the Seven bridge. They will lend you a car for the day amd when you get back all will be done Just over £1000 and in an instance you have almost halved the cost of motoring paradise. Mike Thanks Mike but South Wales is some distance away from Manchester ... have you had a system fitted by them ? What makes them stand out from the other fitters out there ? Anybody recommend a fitter closer to me ? I normally use Dual Fuel in Woking Surrey but they wanted more than twice the amount Profess Gas wanted and they also wanted the car for a week or more so after looking through the internet I came across Profess and trawled the WWW for anyone that had a bad thing to say about them but apart from one guy whos car couldnt be finished, they put him up in a nice hotel for the night free with lots of applogies there was nothing. I rang them and spoke to them they came across as professional they use Italian Polish fitters who have been fitting these systems for years and when they work they work dammed hard and thats not the same as most UK garages think means working hard. They offered to give me telephone numbers of past customers which I didnt take up but thought I would bite the bullit and book it in and was I glad I did. I arrived at 8.15am for an 8.30am appointment they took the car straight away lent me a Toyota LPG for the day they said it would be finished by 5pm and it was, they filled the tank up asked me to go for a 20min run to see if I was happy with it there were no problems I took it back and while I paying they refilled the tank after the test run. The installation was extreamly neat no greasey marks inside or out and its been in a year now no problems. They do ask you to take the car back after about 1000 miles just in case it needs tweeking but that took 5 mins and all is well. I shall be taking my wifes new Mondeo estate down there for LPG with no reservations at all. I can give them and you no better recomendation. Manchesters not that far down the M5 I had to come from Surrey.

  14. Another smitten to the Paradise that is Lexus. You have been bitten by the Lexus bug from which there is no return. ENJOY  Mike
  15. Hi, Welcome to paradise that is owning an LS400. A word of advice on buying with a system all ready installed make sure that they have an up to date certification for the system as this is something more and more insurance company insist on seeing. Also make sure that the system has been installed properly by having the system inspected. If this is something you feel you can do yourself by having sufficient knowledge on LPG systems then OK but if not then find someone who you trust and has enough knowledge. I have heard of to many stories of people buying cars with LPG installed which are downright dangerous and they either pull them out or have a system fitted. I would always go for the having a installation fitted by a company who you have researched and trust. I have run on LPG systems for 15 years plus on both my car and my wifes and I have always had the system fitted after buying the car. Never had a problem with any of them. Good luck. Mike
  16. Hi John, Sorry to hear of your LPG problems. You really did come up against some awful installers but you cant put down LPG because of your experience. It wasnt the LPG systems fault you had installed it was the diabolical so called Installers (Cowboys) I guarantee if you were to use Professautogas in South Wales you would be as happy as a pig in ****. 8 Cylinder LPG Conversion £1250 inc VAT and all in a day + a loan car for the day already converted to LPG so you can have a leisurely drive around the beautiful South and Mid Wales country side for the day while your is being converted. It is a shame these LPG installers are not legally bound to regisister in the same way that Gas engineers have to be when dealing with gas in the home that would see an end to all these cowboys and give LPG the good name it deserves. Best wishes Mike
  17. Hi. I bought my new struts off fleabay this time last year. £52.50 inc postage Seller: car_chrome Seller Information: M IQBAL BEDFORD, Bedfordshire MK40 4JD United Kingdom I did the same. Only took 15 mins with a small tea break to change them. Enjoy your LS 400. I live in Hampshire myself so I will look out for you. Regards Mike
  18. Mine's an M plate as well. I'll put some pics up soon. I paid £1700. What an absolute beauty, Motoring heaven, Mike
  19. Hi Mark. Well I've got my engine cover back, they simply forgot to clip it on and I'm much happier. So please disregard my earlier post... It's a full flashlube system and done by a good installer, I went to a lot of effort to find someone reputable and then I borrowed a car for a couple of days that they had converted. I agree with you that it runs smoother on gas than it does on petrol, I must admit it's the first thing I noticed when I originally collected it. I was hoping for better economy than I'm getting but I think part of the problem is that when you know you're only paying half the price of petrol, you tend to have a heavier right foot. Best wishes, Dave. Less MPG on LPG than petrol: i did some research last year when i was thinking of having mine converted(Still thinking/no money). I spoke to a lot of installers and the upshot is that you can expect about 20% less MPG on LPG because LPG has a lower calerific value than petrol. In simple terms, there is less energy in LPG than petrol so your engine burns more of it. Simples! I have been quoted all sorts of figuers regarding MPG from 0% to 15%. Truth is there has never been a proper scientific study done to accertain what the truth is. I have run our two family cars on LPG for the last 15 years and can honestly say I dont notice any difference in MPG or Power. Running cars with large engines does tend to make you be that much gentler with the loud pedal and that in itself brings the MPG figure up. I can remember when I first filled up with LPG I had a big smile on my face as I wasnt being robbed of as much money as the poor Deisel/Petrol people were and I still have a smile on my face at the filling station. If you are buying a car to keep for as long as possible its a no brainer to get it convereted. Mike
  20. Yes, I agree, there was a moment of weakness, but it is nicer than a "nasty old 4x4". Now you're making up sayings!!! "nice Rover 75 diesel estate" is there such a thing? Having said that, my dad is in the market for a diesel car and loves the Rover 75, especially, the estate, so if you're serious, PM me with the details and I'll pass them on to him. Thanks Mike I live just outside Reading so look for an R Reg LS400 Dark Green and we'll swap some stories. Mike
