  1. When I get a round tuit (!) I'll take readings etc off the cables and measure cable sizes. I can use a very low current relay to drive a 12v circuit so I don't anticipate any issues. I'll let you know but it'll be a while. David
  2. Because it's a toggle switch and stays off until you press it again OR you restart the car :( Here's the Shift Control schematic I was referring to David Lexus_Shift_Control.pdf
  3. I bow to your superior knowledge - however I was just looking at the main wiring diagram and it shows a yellow wire connected to S35 Shift Lever Position Sensor from the ECU position 9. I was assuming I could splice into that wire (I do have some experience with auto wiring) and that would power a relay which in turn would connect/disconnect power to/from the front loom where the on/off toggle switch is. Please correct me if I'm all wrong David
  4. That's a great piece of research. Consensus seems to be that the front sensors are designed to be active when stationary and I plan on fixing that with the relay from the 'D' as soon as I have time to figure out where to connect it. Cheers David
  5. As far as I recall (can't check as my partner has the car right now) the Post Code is not an option on the Address selection, only on setting a memory point. Even so, it has limited use as you can only enter the first 6 characters. It could be so much better
  6. Oh yes, can't get enough light these days ;-)
  7. Did you just change the bulb or the whole fitting? -If the bulb which one did you use? Thanks David
  8. The red ones are rarer than rocking horse droppings but look brilliant. I wanted that colour in the States but it was a special order only. I got a colour called Bamboo Pearl - sort of a chameleon silver, my current one is silver.
  9. I repainted my first car (1934 Austin 7) turquoise blue, white leather-cloth roof and flames down the side ;-)
  10. OK, an update on the Map DVD. Yesterday as I said I tried to enter the following address "22 High Street, Milton, Cambridge, CB24 6AJ. I put in the High Street, got some towns listed but Milton wasn't there. So I changed and entered just the town - not found. I tried the actual name as a POI but that didn't work either. I gave up. Today, with a bit more time and the manual to hand, I started the entry by trying to set a Memory Point and using the search area, entered the Post Code - then I entered the street and it said "High Street, Milton" :( So it did know but couldn't find it using the normal data entry - complete crock. Lexus could fix this if they wanted to, can't be hard as the data exists so it's just programming (I was one for 40+ years) but now I'm either going to enter my destinations well in advance or buy the Garmin. Cheers David
  11. As everyone says, the dealers are just bandits - stay away. I use a local (Norwich) company that has serviced Lexus & Toyota for 25+ years and they are very reasonable indeed. Finding the right Rx400h took me a while but the wait was worth it (it's my second). For Gods sake don't buy a black car - impossible to keep clean and they'll heat up in summer like a greenhouse. I learned this lesson the hard way and I'll never own another black car as long as I live. The Rx400h looks good in silver or light blue. Cheers David
  12. I've added a fog light as an extra reversing light - that helps a lot but the camera is still very poor
  13. I'd be very interested in this or any other suggestions for improving the Rx400h camera. This is the second Rx400h I have owned and have never been happy with the images especially at night. Last week I drove a rented Kia Sorrento with what appeared to be an identical camera and the difference was like chalk & cheese. Very clear and great night vision. I'm trying to find out what camera model the Kia has as there appears to be a healthy after-market for these things David
  14. I tend to agree - I just tried to enter an address into my (updated 2016) Lexus and it couldn't even find the town! You can't enter a full post code so address finding is a pain sometimes. However, I did have a very bad experience with Tom-Tom and switched to Garmin and I'm seriously thinking about getting another one. You can get the number of the one you want by simply popping the existing one out and looking at the label. If you look for other threads on this you'll find where I got my update. David
  15. Sorry for the delay - been away on vacation. You raise an interesting point - if the after market "Can bus" sensors can detect speed and gear position, why can't my Lexus ones? The Lexus ones (front) are on constantly below 10kph and regardless of gear selection or parking brake. I'd be interested in the wiring diagram and/or instructions for yours David
  16. Thank you Julian - I'll investigate that as soon as I can - no idea why the search engine failed me, so thanks again I'll let you know if it works
  17. Buying from eBay is not a crime, nor should you assume that eBay sellers are selling counterfeit goods. I have sold many items on eBay as well as buying.
  18. No, sorry I can't find it but he does answer his email
  19. The product is a genuine Toyota/Lexus disk - please do not make assumptions regarding my postings or their legality
  20. Hi, I purchased it via eBay from Jörg Sommer joesoe@gmx.de, cost £75.00
  21. Yes, option LPA800 and we have checked the wiring as far as possible. I plan on adding a relay from the 'D' sensor to override the power feed
  22. That would be OK - but mine beep in 'P' 'R' 'N' and 'D' which is unusual.
  23. Exactly what I would expect and experienced with every other car I've owned which had them.
  24. My rear ones only work in reverse - as you would expect. The front ones work in all gears and when stationary which is nonsensical, especially when getting into the vehicle after parking close to an object.
