  1. There is a post code input on the second screen but apparently Lexus in their infinite Japanese wisdom have decreed we can only select the Post TOWN from the first four (or five) digits. Having input the first four it is then necessary to select the post town from a list. What a complete crock! If the newer models will allow full post code entry then surely it isn't impossible to upgrade the latest map DVD? Hey ho
  2. Thanks Dan, Interesting information although I suspect not an issue on mine as its a 2007 and unlikely to have been clear-coated recently. On a previous vehicle I had one failed sensor which was identified by the fitter simply by moving his hand in front of it and listening intently. Lexus are not interested in diagnostics - just replace with new and the aftermarket fitters won't fix it, although they would investigate it for a fee. Which may well be my next port of call Cheers
  3. I bought the latest Europe West DVD for my sat nav and it does now allow destination and route changes when moving. The phone is still locked out though (apart from speed dial) - pretty dumb as a passenger could use it if unlocked. However I discovered an anomaly that beggars belief - you can't enter a full 7-digit post code and it isn't on the first screen. I know I'm not the first to find this but surely someone at Lexus is aware of this and has commented (couldn't find it). Trying to find an address in a small village I got four digits in and then had to put the street name in or select it from a list of 273!!!! My Garmin would allow a 7-digit post code and then the option to GO! The UK postcode system is great and on average there are 15 addresses per unique code. In most cases it'll take you to within 100 yards with knowing anything else. Has there been any dialog with Lexus about getting this fixed? Cheers David
  4. Went to the dealer today - it is the sensors and they said they may have to replace everything involved - cost estimate could be as high as £1200! That might be OK but they also looked at some corrosion on the underneath of the end panels on the roof rails. They recommend complete new rails at £1157 I'll be visiting the local body shop for this one.
  5. There are some functions which are owner set and some dealer set -if you disconnect the battery they revert to factory default. You can reset the owner ones yourself using the buttons but the dealer ones will require you paying money and usually lots of it.
  6. I had a TomTom once - very painful experience so switched to Garmin. I'm amazed at how many seemingly obvious features the Garmin had that the Lexus doesn't - like auto zoom according to speed/distance from junction; display of speed limit, etc. I'll get used to it again I expect. The wiring hack is pretty straight forward if a tad tedious to get at Thanks
  7. Seems a strange omission - I'll ask Lexus Norwich tomorrow Thanks
  8. I know this is an old issue but this was a problem when on a freeway (or motorway) when you are not allowed to pull over so altering the route to avoid traffic was impossible - happened enough times to make me really mad. I've just loaded a 2016/17 DVD and the lock on the route setting has gone - but the phone lock is still there :(
  9. Does anyone know if it possible to program the side mirrors to fold when the ignition key is removed? I seem to recall this was possible and saw a reference to a P40 kit - but can't find anything with the search function Thanks
  10. The US mirrors are totally different from UK spec ones - one has a convex glass and the legend "Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear" and the other side has a split view to give a wide angle as well as normal. FWIW
  11. If you disconnect the battery (by whatever means) you'll have to reprogram various bits & pieces - mainly the tailgate and side windows. A bit of a pain.
  12. I'm looking at a solar trickle charger as well. The battery in the new RX400h I had in California would not start the car if it stood for about two weeks or more. A known problem as the battery is just not man enough for the job. The battery died after three years and the dealer told me this was to be expected. Now with a 2007 here in the UK I mainly do short trips and not that many of them so I know it's going to be flat one day. I'd really like to mount the charger permanently and wire it into the rear 12v outlet but so far I can't find one that is outdoor proof. Otherwise it'll be on the dash with wire draped down to the OBD outlet which I'd like to avoid. Ideas anyone?
  13. Hi again, just rechecked everything and I think it is related to the parking sensors. The sound is very like that of a sensor detecting a very close object. Lt's see what the dealer makes of it and I'll post the results Thanks all David
  14. Annoying is hardly the word All the lights go out as the hybrid system starts, I will check the info screen again though. It is booked in to Lexus Norwich next Tuesday to check out the parking sensors and some corrosion on the roof rail supports. I'll add this to the list if we can't find a solution here. Thanks
  15. OK, video with sound - sorry it's upside down, used a "smart"phone 20160602_104334.mp4
  16. Not that I can tell, certainly no warning lights for it. Give me an hour and I'll make a video recording of it
  17. No sounds at all? Mine has a sustained 'beeeep' followed by a louder buzzer/siren type.
  18. Hi, I have just acquired a one-owner used 2007 RX400h SE and am comparing it to the (then new) 2008 RX400h I bought when living in California. There are a number of minor differences (as expected) but one that is driving me insane. When I switch on the ignition to START I am greeted by an array of warning lights (as expected) PLUS an unbelievably loud and annoying series of sounds & sirens that seem to go on for ages. Talk about OTT! You would think the thing was about to self-destruct! Is there any way of reducing the time and/or the volume of these warnings? Better yet, turning them off? Thanks David
  19. Hi, I'm looking to buy a specific used 2007 RX400h but I'm having difficulty in working out what the various model specs are. In particular I see references to the "facelift" model which I believe came with the 2008 model year. I can't confirm this nor can I work out what was changed. All the brochures on-line are no help and the VIN has very limited information. I used to own a 2008 model year in California and I have pictures of it so I know roughly what to expect. Any idea where I can get a decent decode of the VIN which should include all the vehicle build specs etc? Thanks David
  20. Hi, I know this is an old thread but thought this might be useful - I had running boards fitted by the Lexus dealer in the USA when I bough my RX400h new in 2008 - the results were great but very expensive - $1300!!!! I have also bought from Direct 4x4 here in the UK for a different vehicle, found the company to be really helpful, the boards will be fitted this week (by a local mechanic) Cheers

  22. Thanks Janey - and for the picture. The standard refers to stitching strength as far as I can tell, there may be other differences in areas like the mountings or pre-tensioners. That's what I'm trying to nail down. Cheers David
