  2. Bluewater meet. Excellent I'll be happy to attend. Any date is good for me.
  3. I have ordered the michelins, awaiting delivery, which will take 3 weeks apparently! thank god i'm in no real rush
  4. Thanks for your replies. I am seriously considering the michelin pilot super sport, have heard only great things about them, and they don't wear down as fast as the others. i have been to a couple tyre places, however no one stocks them, they are 'special order'. And then they try to sell me other tyres they have in stock, asking me why i want the michelins!
  5. My rear tyres would need replacing soon, just wondering what tyres people have experience with. I have done research and found 3 that get mentioned as being the market leaders: 1) Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2) Continental Contact sport 5P 3) Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Or shall i stick to the OEM tyres made by bridgestone. Wondering what peoples thoughts are. I am inclinded to go fir the michelins purely because they have brilliant reviews in dry, but they also have mixed reviews in the wet. Goodyear are supposed to be great in the wet, not as great as michelins in the dry, but also they don't have any rim protection. The continentals are supposed to be good at both dry and wet, but apparently they dont last that long. Just wondering what people have on thier cars. Thanks
  6. All i know is....Put it in 'D' and the car will very ferociously move forward when you press the right side pedal. :)
  7. ahh brilliant, i was thinking to put bigger tyres on, on the front to protect the rim a little better and the rear for more traction.
  8. I've been checkiing my tyre wear on a regular basis and found the optimum cold pressure for my style of driving on public roads is 40 psi (nitrogen filled), The fronts were wearing more on the outside and inside than the middle at 36psi and 38psi. I have new super sports on the rear that are slightly wider than standard (275's) and so far they are also wearing evenly at 40 psi. but I'll continue to monitor them. Regards the brake dust, the Hawk performance ceramics I have on my IS-F have reduced the problem on the BBS wheels (they are 12 months old now) and I have yet to see any problems on the bodywork. I am not aware that Lexus US have addressed the problem at all for the IS-F, although they have issued ceramic pads for both the IS250 & IS350 following complaints of excessive brake dust. The problem with the OEM/Brembo IS-F pads is different than that of the 250/350 pads; it isn't just the amount of dust but the ferrous content in it. Have you got the 275 on the standard alloy wheels? and do they fit ok without any adjustments?
  9. the cooled seats was also a thing i was confused with, all other models have it, don't understand why this hasn't. Would have made the car just that little bit more prestigious, but i'm not to concerned about it. That V8 is something isn't it!
  10. interesting comments, thanks for the detailed reports. I do agree though the dash board is a step backwards. i wouldn't change my 2008 ISF to the 2011 version just for a relocation of the sport button and slightly better suspension with LSD, can't justify the price difference.
  11. It is certainly a huge jump from the astra! But to be fair i have driven many other powerful cars, they just weren't mine :) None quite like this car though! Yeah the salesman did some numbers juggling declaring a higher trade in value than i actually got and higher purchase price, something to do with their books, to what end i don't quite know! Probably to do with their commission. It didn't affect me so i didn't protest, so long as i only pay the amount we agreed on. The car only really get noticed by those that know what one is, which is exactly what i wanted, though i think it does look imposing. But that noise, just over 3700rpm! absolutely sublime!
  12. Congratulations! I only just bought mine just over a month ago too, best decision i made. Fuel cost isn't so bad if you only doing few thousand a year. But i agree the salesman was keen to do a deal, and gave me a good deal on a 58 model with low miles (18k). I dealt at £29900, he gave me more than what my trade-in car was worth (vauxhall astra), i also negotiated free road tax for the year, free supagaurd treatment, personalised registration transfer, ISF carpets. Pretty good deal i thought. But enjoy, it will never fail to bring a smile to your face :) Rare car aswell, not many on the road.
  13. i wonder what the suspension revisions are like, has anybody driven an early model and the new 2011 model to make a comparison?
  14. There is a way to switch off the radar, you have to switch the cruise control on but don't set the speed, then push the cruise control lever into 'mode'. I think you have to hold it down for a few seconds then the word radar would disappear on the dash. I think thats how you switch off the radar.
  15. I'm a new ISF owner, and my journey on the motorway this weekend i did approximately 150 miles and averaged 35.2 mpg!!!!! Granted i was travelling at lowly speeds of 55-70 mph with small bursts of acceleration every now and again. It may have added 15 minutes or so to my journey, but i was in no rush. From a 5.0 Litre V8 it's seriously astonishing!
  16. Brilliant thanks for the advice, i purchased a new E13 sat nav disk and this rectified the problem! I can now use sat nav while on the move! So far 2 weeks with the car and i'm loving it. Its a very rare car, never seen another on the road!
  17. Yeah i expected the snow performance wouldn't be that good being RWD. I have noticed alot of brake dust, i might consider getting them brake pads especially if they produce less dust. Can i get lexus to fit them or does it have to be an independant garage? I have to admit the fuel consumption isn;t as bad as i thought! I'm at 25mpg right now from some spirited driving combined with sensible driving! I love that noise when it goes over 3700rpm or so! I will look into the sat nav disks, i was lost one time with a passenger and we had to pull over onto the hard shoulder just to get our destination reset! would be alot easier if my passenger could have changed it while driving! Thank for the advice guys! i really appreciate it.
  18. Hi i have finally taken the plunge and bought a nice white IS-F. Coming from an Astra it's quite a jump! I am loving it right now, the noise, the speed, the style! As i am new to the car is there anything i should look out for? or anything i should get done. I hear alot about ceramic brakes, being more effective at braking and have no brake dust, is this worth while? and where do i get them from? Also is there any way i can use the sat nav while on the move? kind of annoying when you have to pull over somewhere just to change your destination. Thanks, Sim
