  1. thanks for the info, good to know others experiences. I will try to get as low a quote as poss and hope not too much needs to be done. As far as geometry is concerned Tony at Wheelsinmotion looks after my IS300 and he does a sterling job on that - if any of you need geometry from someone who knows better than the Lexus dealers I would get down to him. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/
  2. its that time of year again, time to get some quotes for the 40k/ 4 year service for my IS300. How much will this one end up costing me and what needs to be done at this one? anything major at all? i think I might have to change my brake pads as well, should I let the Lexus dealer do this or go to a quick fit type place and save a few quids? any advice welcome cheers
  3. it is ridiculous but its a game of cat and mouse between the fancy schemes that lawyers cook up to shield the assets of the very wealthy and the chancellor's grabbing hands. Basically if Gordon thinks the schemes of trusts gifts blind trusts and other combinations of asset transfer are taking the pi$$ he clamps down. what has affected us normal people of course is him not raising the thresholds in line with inflation and the runaway house price increases that have made even working class people IHT liable. This was unknown until the late 1990s and most people didnt even have to think about inheritance taxes. Maybe this is what new Labour means by equality.......................... Edit: this post also made me think about someone I know who a couple of years back came into some money after his last grandparent died. I remember clearly how absurd his behaviour became as he ranted on about the death duties even though he just had a nearly six figure payout. Did he put the money towards his mortgage, no he was straight down the Toyota garage he bought himself a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon. He also wears those puffa jackets with no sleeves, what a bell end
  4. I did sign the petition as Im not for higher inheritance taxes but on the other hand I am not entirely for estates being left to heirs entirely untaxed. There should be a balance because not taxing inheritances will cause greater concentrations of wealth into less people's hands in the long term. Also unearned wealth is not good for the economy as it makes people lazier. My parents also have been living in their house for 30 years but they have just sold up and are now moving to a small 2 bedroom bungalow since my mum got ill and cant do housework any more. What they will do with the money is anybody's guess, personally I think they should fritter it away on bingo sessions, gardening implements and orthapedic cushions. Whatever is left over they can give to me and I will waste it on my car.
  5. Im work in the marketing department of BMW UK theyre rubbish cars so I drive a Lexus but dont tell my boss I said that
  6. I've never encountered any that needed to be told to do that :winky: personally im not fussed about inheritance taxes I know my folks have taken steps to minimise their liability but lets face it the best way to make cash is to go out and earn it not wait for your relatives to drop dead :winky:
  7. just tell your parents to blow all their money before they die, problem solved
  8. as far as Im concerned it would be every citizen's duty to hack this system and destroy it
  9. excellent, thanks, anyone know what fuse type it is so I can pick one up on the way home ta
  10. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help with this. The cigar lighter in the IS300 stopped working yesterday, I checked the fuses under the bonnet but none was marked as being the one for the cigar lighter, does anyone know where the fuse is for it so I can check that before I send it in to the dealer to be fixed thanks

  12. yeah the blow out was due to a ruddy great rusty nail that somebody kindly left in the road for me! see you for another checkup in another couple of thousand miles! :D I've just realised something? wasn't your original tyres insured by us for accidental or malicious loss! Since this was for two years then the replacement tyre should have been 50% of the retail price... I will check tomorrow because i think we owe you some money back. Let me check tomorrow.... it's possible that we included it automatically due to the amount of money you spent.... ok nice one Tony :D
  13. no unfortunately I never took the insurance Tony

  15. Got myself down to Tony Bones at STS in Watford this morning to have the geometry sorted out on the IS300. It wasnt that long since the last visit but a blowout and new tyre a few weeks ago and a couple of potholes seemed to have knocked things out of kilter a little bit. It didnt take long for Tony to sort things out, centre the steering wheel and get the cross camber sorted out, now the cars handling is transformed again, its handling like a dream. I can throughly recommend a trip to STS if you need any geometry done to your car, what he doesnt know about geometry isnt worth knowing...... 16. thats a nice looking motor you got there for sure,
  17. how much will the IS500 be I wonder? hopefully it will have recaro type seats with not too much electronic stuff weighing it down? and will be less than 40k in the UK? or is that too much to ask..........
  18. after another 2,500 miles of doing donuts in my local asda car park ive just crossed the 30k mark :winky:
  19. from what I can gather a lot of the manufacturers are turning up for this one so unlike the farce at the NEC masquerading as a motor show the London one should be worth going to. Of course it will only be a shadow of Geneva, Frankfurt, Detroit or Paris but then lets face it are there any car makers that are British owned any more? I cant think of any. TVR? I thought that was owned by a Russian. Lotus? I thought that was owned by a Malaysian?
  20. my hairdresser (well barber) drives a 3 series with a Schnitzer body kit - does that count? ;)
