  1. The Grin seems to be getting all sorts of random people joining in today ... (And yesterday)

  2. If I were Microsoft, I'd be firing the person who chose Lotus F1 to advertise their Cloud services. Lotus F1 were almost the best in F1 but apparently since starting to use MS Cloud, they've descended to almost the worst ...

  3. currently having a fight with my iPhone. It had 4.1GB of "Other data" on it this morning, which has now grown to 4.5GB. And it's resisting all attempts to reclaim that data, despite even going as far as firing up my old laptop to see if a sync on that will deal with it.Sadly, iOS 7 isn't an option cos that would break the link to iTunes 10, which has features I would miss in 11 ...

  4. My car is cruel - it started off Days Go By just as i was pulling into car park. Love that song but should not really be shouting along to it while parking

  5. Hi all - there's a few methods the car can get traffic data : FM Radio RDS - traffic info comes over this. I used to get it in my CT too. DAB - comes with another type of traffic info broadcast. Internet - with a suitable connection method. The satnav will then draw in info from all the sources it has available, reception permitting ... I have an iPhone 5 so technically I should be able to use that as a hotspot that the car connects to. However, my 3 contract doesn't allow other devices to connect through the hotspot. Just thought I'd mention that as a warning in case you try to connect something to internet through your iPhone and it suddenly loses all connectivity to internet. (The fix is to disable the hotspot, complain loudly about 3 and restart the phone). The FM-RDS and DAB data do a pretty decent job of avoiding most avoidable traffic snarlups, although I'd be curious to see what information an internet connection would add.
  6. I feel the need to look for the "No cities, skyscrapers, buildings or minor planets were harmed during the making of this movie" during the credits. And ... add satellites to that list too.

  7. I think i'll pass on reading what i just found - i was pointed to a document written when i was in school (nov 85)

  8. My grammar nazi tendencies are railing at a helpdesk drone using "your"instead if "you're" for "the homepage you're getting"

  9. Have had the Ellie Goulding version of Your Song running round my head today ... Great song but not convinced about her version. Nicole Kidman actually did it better.

  10. why do we say "I'll not waste your time" to get rid of people wasting our time knocking on our doors about stuff ?

  11. Missing the aroma of lightly caramelised cookie that was pervading the Galleries

  12. Today's lunchy question - go home and chill, or head in to town to give my poorly leg some walking it needs (drawback - you can still taste the Sahara pollution in the air)

  13. it's not being free tech support that irritates me, it's dropping everything to be tech support at 22.30 for something that's on page 1 of the fine manual.

  14. Feels like the weekend has just caught up with me and given me a rabbit punch

  15. ok - so pushing the legs up to a light sprint 3 days after a major calf strain wasn't the best idea I ever had ...

  16. Hoping this place gives me another munchies option ... And that it takes the headache away ! (Harvester munchies)

  17. I've had Days Go By from Dirty Vegas running round my head all day. Believe me, this is not a bad thing.

  18. My CT was Tardis Blue too (yeah, I know it's "Ultra" but Tardis Blue sounds cooler) Awesome colour - hope you enjoy your IS as much as I am mine
  19. curious - people who put a surcharge on credit card payments. How quaint.

  20. Lol - when I read this, I thought - "that could have been me !" Colour, spec and Bristol fits ... but I wasn't in Longwell Green last Saturday. I was hibernating in front of Six Nations and Grand Prix on the telly. I reckon the IS might get very popular, cost permitting. The opinions of the CT were fairly "That's a Mazda innit?" ambivalent, whereas the IS has almost universally got an "ooo - sexy". Which I heartily approve of. Gratuitous link with piccy : http://iceangelthemerc.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/thematic-photographic-technological.html That's from Bristol Cabot Circus.
  21. I wonder where the crossover comes between Pain Level - high and Pain Level - wish i was high ...

  22. Lol - as you'll see in the General forum, only in terms of the last car ! My previous cars weren't nearly as exotic as some of those (sadly !)
  23. I've gone from a Lexus ... to a Lexus :hocus-pokus: Currently enjoying the extra power of an IS300h, which was an upgrade from 2011 CT200h SE-L - great but underpowered 2002 Focus ST - horrible chassis 1999 Puma - loved it for 7 years but bits were dropping off it by the end 1992 Rover 420 - which shall never be spoken of again 1987 Belmont SRi - last of the non-catalyst cars. Was a bad decision to let it go 1982 Astra Mk1 1.6 - loved it to bits, saw me through uni but it was another which had bits dropping off every time you started it up. 1982 Fiesta 950 pop plus - which I have trouble considering seriously as a "car"
  24. looks like you will be the first. No IS300h models currently listed on fuelly. Looks like it takes a little time for Fuelly to add in new cars to its lists. I think mine is the second, if I click on the IS300h link in the page about the car, there's one in Poland. Mine isn't even listed on the IS300h page because it hasn't had the 3 fill ups needed to show up publicly yet. The link in my sig will hopefully work In terms of mileages, it's early days for mine so far. Hopefully you'll be able to see the fill ups via the signature link but : 1st fill - is a bit of a con. It's tainted by delivery procedures, plus I was nervous about running out so there's a partial fill up in there. 2nd fill - was reading maybe 50mpg on the screen, 46mpg actual. And it was a short fill because I was about to embark on 450 business miles without knowing what the prices or availability of petrol would be The current tank has seen those 450 miles (so far) and there's a third of a tank left according to the dial. No range anxiety here ! It's the longest ranged car I've had so far, beating the CT due to that 50% bigger tank. But I do need to find an opportunity to do a fill up just after the light comes on, so I know how much reserve is available. PS I'll be over the moon if I continue getting 46mpg or better actual. The IS has so much more flexibility compared to the CT, I'm expecting similar mpgs out of the IS to the 48-50 I got from the CT because I'm not having to work it as hard.
  25. I'm actually pleasantly surprised - after a somewhat broken initial registration process at the Barclaycard website, they've been saved by telephone customer service. That's right - customer service did something positive.
