  1. I am looking to update the satnav for my 2001 ls430 according to the lexus site I have generation 00 it shows part no's 08664 & 08927 clicking on the ? mark it shows a dvd rom 86271-owo75 I am totally confused can anyone help please
  2. I have a 2001 ls430 with the mark levinson audio my cd player was showing 'cd error' so I sent it to cartronics Nottingham who diagnosed that the laser was u.s and it would cost £430 to fix!!!!!! I wasn't going to pay that so I purchased a used unit through a reputable dealer on that other site! it arrived today I fitted it and hey presto 'CD ERROR'????? my question is.......... could there be something else causing this apart from the audio unit itself? or have I just got another u.s unit?
  3. any of you guys know who could repair my mark levinson amplifier?
  4. I'm over the moon to be back in a lexus! 15months ago I wrote off my 1995 ls 400 after it spun out of control ( in heavy rain and I suspect diesel) and rear ended a tree ! luckily no-one else was involved and I didn't sustain any injuries (thanks to the build of my lexus) the only injury was to my ncb but hey ho I'm still here!! I have been driving a rover 75 2.5 auto since...very nice car but boy did I miss the luxurious ride of my 400! I have now bitten the bullet and bought a 2001 ls430 with premium pack and o boy am I glad I did! its got a couple of issues but nothing that can't be sorted! so its probably true that once bitten by a lexus always bitten etc etc looking forward to some great advice and banter on this forum
  5. thanks for all the advice guys! I had an independent diagnostics firm to check it out! and thankfully all is ok...it was the failed battery that caused the e.m light to come on, the one thing it did throw up was that it was due for an oil change! I can handle that one once again thanks guys GREAT FORUM!!!
  6. looking at a 2001 ls430 the engine management light is on but not flashing! dealer says..."because the car hasn't been used much the battery is flat and the light comes on when the power from the battery drops below a certain level" ...is this right?... dealer also states that he will have the 'EML' switched off! if there was another problem would the light come back on or is there some way that the fault could be hidden?
  7. thanks for the advice! some serious thought needed! out of interest is there just one motor that's required?
  8. looking to buy an immaculate 2002 ls 430 however the steering wheel doesn't adjust up or down the motor makes a faint noise when the toggle is first moved I assume that it will be the motor that is at fault! any advice on what it will cost to fix so that I can barter with the dealer
  9. thats for taxation purposes only, i have a 1973 daimler sovereign that misses out on free tax by 6 months! however fully comp ins only costs me £80 which compensates a bit i tried to get classic ins on my 1995 ls400 without success if anyone finds a willing company please let me know found the following on the net "Classic Car Insurance Eligibility" Your car is eligible for classic car insurance if it complies with the following conditions : Your car must be at least 10 years old but some companies allow it to be anything from five years old or more. A few companies though will insure brand new classic cars too. The minimum value of the car is decided by the insurer. The vehicle must be used as a second car, never as a primary vehicle. Other considerations for some insurers include how you keep your car (garaging preferred) and good driving records. The car should generally be kept under lock and key, with only limited people allowed access to it. The car is not always covered if parked other than at the residence, even temporarily. Driving your vintage car on a regular basis will disqualify you for classic car insurance. A basic limitation imposed by the vast majority of classic car insurers is on the mileage permitted per year and the manner in which that mileage is used. The range is generally 1,500 - 6,000 miles per year. The lower the mileage you limit yourself to, the lower your premium will be. The car may not be in everyday use or used for routine errands such as going to work, shopping or taking children to school. Weddings and other such instances are permissible. Refitting your antique car so that it can participate in car rallies or sporting activities will disqualify you for classic car insurance. The age of the motorist should be at least 21 years of age but it varies between policies. Obviously, the younger the driver, the higher the premium as companies opt for experience. Some companies will refuse to insure cars with young drivers. Depending on the insurance provider, classic car insurance is specific to car make and model. Your antique car must not have been involved in criminal activity. The car originated in the UK. You possess an unexpired UK or EU car license.
