  4. Thanks Brian, will check that out when I come home. I am sure Steve,s advice is good, its just Im afraid that when I connect the charged battery, the alarm will go off, and I would like to know how to deal with it. William
  5. Thanks Steve, sounds like good advice, will most likely go with it, I welcome further advice on this problem. Thanks William
  6. Hello its me again, Today I went to collect my Ls 430 having driven Phaeton for the last week, and the Jaguar for the previous week and a bit. As its been more 2 weeks since I used it, I was not too surprised when the doors refused to unlock on keyless mode. I was surprised that the engine refused to even make an attempt to turn over, I read on here that the problem is properly that the system is constantly hunting for the key. So I located the switch to disable it under the bonnet release, and as it was turned clockwise I turned it anti clockwise, that may have been a mistake as the alarm is sounding (faintly but most definitely) and while I did try to use my fob to unlock the car, as well as having opened it with the metal key, the sound persists. so I locked it again with the metal key and left it to get advice here before I jump start. My questions are 1 when I jump start the car will the alarm continue to go off ? if yes how do I disarm it? 2 any thing else I should do or know before I jump start the car? thanks guys. William
  7. Republic of Ireland Motor Tax for 1 year Lexus Ls 430 = €1809 thats about £1450.
  8. I agree with this, I don't know if this is a quicker car than the V8, but it will tempt you to drive quicker. I would caution you, the space inside the cabin, coming from the Ls you will notice a big difference. Might be a good idea to have a number of test drives to be sure you can adjust to it. I had mine for a year and I put over 15,000 on it without the slightest niggle. Also this is a more modern looking car that blends easily. You might think this good or not.
  9. Shiner I am sorry you are having so much trouble with your 430, but I do believe its the exception rather than the norm. The 430 I have now, I bought from a friend who had it 4 years, and 60,000 miles with nothing to do exception normal servicing. As you may know if you have read my thread, I did have to replace the tyres and parking brake shoes, plus a wheel bearing. However this is to be expected, on an almost 9 year old car. I also have had this car wrapped, and now not only does it drive like new it, also looks like new. On which is the best Ls, people will can make up their own minds, but as someone who has had both at the same time. I would say the 430 is more refined and better equipped, I believe the 460 is better still, and The 600 is the pinnacle of engineering AND YES I HAVE DRIVEN BOTH MODELS and not only for a quick test drive either. At the moment I have the Ls 430, VW Phaeton, and Jaguar XJ 4.2 Sovereign. I can tell you (in my opinion) the 430 is way better than the Jaguar, again if you have read my thread, you will know that I had a Gs 450h, which I traded for the Phaeton. The Gs 450h is an amazing car, You would not believe how quick it can go, and the equipment is top of the range. I loved that car and only let it go because I could not easily get my golf clubs in the boot. and because I am a car slut who likes to change. I am sorry I am not literate enough to describe how good the Gs 450h and LS430 I have are, but as someone old enough to remember when cars had leaf springs I can tell you, air suspension is magic. blue tooth is magic, and touch screen sat nav is magic. William
  10. Thanks fellows, I did not buy it, in fact I did not even go and look at it. it was madness to even consider buying it. I will get an S Class but I will take Rudys advice and look for the earlier model. I apologize to any forum members who were offended by my posting this, I meant no offense
  11. I know it's not better than my 430, it's a bit like I love my beautiful wonderful wife, but I wouldn't mind an affair with this. ....
  12. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/mercedes-benz/s_class/postcode/bt39jp/radius/1500/price-to/18000/fuel-type/petrol/price-from/17000/colour/blue/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew/sort/default http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201402051576968/sort/default/usedcars/model/s_class/engine-size-cars/5lplus/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/price-to/18000/page/1/make/mercedes-benz/price-from/17000/maximum-age/up_to_7_years_old/radius/1500/postcode/bt39jp?logcode=p Please, someone talk sense to me. Having sold my Ls 400 to fred81, I now am tempted to buy this, as my S class. Its far to expensive, and I don't need it, can't really afford it, but, I do, do,do, want it. I am going to view it tomorrow, and I am very impulsive. Help. William
  13. Sorry Rudy, was unable to convince my girlfriends older sister to travel, I did tell her you were rich but I think your photo let you down. Presently on ferry to holly head with fred81s car, so like the cat said when a train ran over its tail. It won't be long now.
  14. Have arranged to deliver car Tuesday so any members who might need items or even people transported from Dublin or thereabouts speak now or forever hold your peace. bilmac
  15. Happy for you Graham, now enjoy the car and take care of it, you never know, I might own it someday, bilmac
  16. Graham, while I do believe you should speak with dealership, remember to straight away, use email confirming conversation, this way, you have a record. Also deal with the senior person at the dealership. the boss has more incentive to resolve issues
  17. Well guys seems I will be keeping the Ls 430, as The Ls 400 with the DHP has been acquired by a forum member. I had some communication with others but the lucky one is FRED81. I am happy to keep the 430 but would have been equally as happy with the 400. I expect he will be reporting on his new purchase soon. I am delivering it early this week. bilmac
  18. Not a very smart Dealer to my mind, while the cost to you might be 1300, I am sure it would be much less for him to replace. Now he has lost a good customer no matter what the outcome, as I can't see you happy to deal there again Also other forum members thinking of buying who are smart, might private message you to make them aware of dealer details I agree with the others THE DEALER IS RESPONSIBLE don't let him off the hook. and don't let this spoil the pleasure of that lovely car. bilmac
  19. It will be off benefit to read the complete thread. give you a better understanding. also view my ad ONE MUST GO cars for sale. bilmac
  20. I checked the milage on the 430 today reads 110,150 so in fact I have put almost 2,000 miles on it. I will not bother amending the posts as anyone interested will be reading this and will know. bilmac
  21. Iain, have a look at the thread started by me NEW TO ME, on this forum, I think you might see something you will like. bilmac
  22. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201403262808155/sort/default/usedcars/page/1/maximum-mileage/up_to_70000_miles/price-to/5500/site/uk/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/radius/1501/model/ls/price-from/3500/postcode/bt39jp/make/lexus?logcode=p I think the Ls 400 i am offering for £2650 (£2300) to forum members. Is as good, if not better than this, at almost twice the price. what do you think? bilmac
  23. Mike as you have started it, you must take responsibility and organize it, which will mean, I with number 2 , will actually go first.
