  1. Even upside down, that looks good. it will be even better with wax. I am a fan of detailing, just to old and lazy to do it myself now. I do like to have it done at least once a year. William
  2. My car is smarter than I am, as somehow it has fixed itself. Yesterday I got low tire pressure warning, just as I turned into my drive having traveled some 100 miles. The tyres all looked ok so left until today, this morning I done the air and reset the tire pressure warning, I did not even know my car had this feature, anyway, resetting the warning, in someway impacted on my keyless entry and start problem as its now working again. I do love the keyless entry. William
  3. I remember that Wolseley 6/110,people might remember seeing them in black and white police movies. I had a Austin Princess Vanden Plas 3 litre,4 speed with overdrive, the bees knees in 1969. This was a step up from the Wolseley. As is the 430 from the 400 Never had any problem with anything other than miles per gallon I sold it because I was only getting 45 miles for a pound. William
  4. It appears that the most common fault is that SOME. LS 4000 owners are jealous of them, they drive better, look better, ARE BETTER ,than the 400. Maybe you should wait until you can afford a LS 460 or 600. They don't seem to be jealous of them. William
  5. The Morris Oxford was a very reliable car. because it was a box with a wheel on each corner and not much else. My point is, the more advanced the vehicle, the more there is to go wrong. I will concede the Ls 400 was (is) a great car. however I do believe the Ls 430 is a better car, and the Ls 460 is better still, with the Ls 600 top of the range. You cut your cloth to suit your measure, so for some the Ls 400 is the best choice, while others can afford the best Ls 600. There is no doubt in my mind that the car I am currently driving is a great car. William
  6. I genuinely admire and respect anyone who understands audio and radio, I never could give time to learning about it. I like to listen to all kinds of music, but know I do not get the best out of my equipment, because of my lack of knowledge. William
  7. I agree the forum members here are always willing and happy to share their know how. I think that anyone who owns a Lexus would benefit from being a member. William
  8. Thanks to all posters to this thread. My 430 is at 110500 miles, I assume it never had fluid change. So for peace of mind, I will have it done now. Also I will be sure to use only the recommended Toyota IV fluid, and red or pink anti freeze coolant. William
  9. Now, now, settle down. Here, have your rattle back! And now, for something completely different: I seem to remember something about the LS430 going into some kind dormant mode after a period of non detection of the smart key, in order to save on electricity. That should mean, no need to disconnect the battery. I'll post more detail when I've found the appropriate page in my Owners Manual... Ok, here it is: LS430 SmartKey drains Battery.jpg Thanks Eff, Therefore deactivating the Smartkey system might be advisable: LS430 deactivate SmartKey.jpg This info is from my 2005 LS430 Owners Manual. Thank you sir, I have tried this, but in spite of turning clockwise, anti clockwise, pressing in, and pressing out,and shaking it all about in all possible combinations. I have no keyless entry or start. I reckon it must be a fuse. Anyone know which fuse, in which fuse box? Also while everything else seems to work, I am not hearing the alarm beeping when I arm or disarm. William
  10. Bummer. Looks like a good Indy is the way forward. Stu I have been around a long time, in my opinion a good Indy is always going to be better. Main dealer service is for someone on warranty or who has more money than sense. With the possible exception of tasks needing special tools, a good Indy can do anything the main dealer can, for a third of the price. Members on here must have knowledge of such an Indy in your general area. William
  11. Not really, Bill. Nowadays these are everyday terms for everyday technologies. By definition we, on this forum are computer users - and as such should at least know what a .wav file is. As we would a .doc, .jpg, .xls and so on. I wasn't trying to blind anyone with science here (or pseudoscience like the adverts)! Thanks very much cleverdick. Now I have to study to learn what the above mean. Until last week when My grand daughter, explained it to me. I thought a mega byte was what you got from a large dog. :D
  12. Sorry to hear this Graham, My advice is, first take the offered £460. it makes no difference what you do after that, except do not ever do business with the this dealer again. This forum will be aware of the lack of commitment to the customer from this dealership. When you have the £460 in your account and not before, I think you should show the dealership this thread, maybe (hopefully) it will rethink its policies. William
  13. Yes please Scott, we like pictures, perhaps you might like to see my pictures, here. sorry don't know how to post link to forum post, but please search.William New (To Me) Ls 430.
  14. Graham please, think about this, for a moment, do you really want to risk damaging your sons future mental health, do you want him to believe his dad only loved him to age 9? Make up your mind now, it will impact on how he treats you when you are in the nursing home.William
  15. Sorry Scott, your car is grey, we at Lexus Owners Club do not do grey, even if they do have top of the range continental sport contacts, Ignore Graham he's colour blind. :D Seriously welcome and the best of luck with your new car, it looks a peach. Some BMWs are good cars, some BMWs are great cars. I believe you will find, all the Ls range of Lexus to be great cars.
  16. Drive back safely with a huge grin, thats a really good value car you have there. While I am just a little bit jealous, I do wish you the best of luck with it. Don't forget to post pictures, you know how much we like pictures. William
  17. Top marks Eff, just checking if anyone awake, me all right but no photoshop, 1962, a lifetime ago. Who do I talk to on this forum? I want to report a missing 30 years. I went to bed one night aged thirty, when I woke up, I was sixty. I have no idea what happened to all them years. As to my beautiful wife, she loves me, because I am a very bad man. William
  18. Any one who cared to view my profile would see my Birthday is the 27th May I will be 70 years old, So here is my present to me Time to stop. I do not want to be the reason you are no longer active on this forum, which you have obviously enjoyed over the years. So please Ambermarine come back. I am sorry I likened you to Victor Meldrew. (I am actually quite fond of old Victor, I find him refreshingly honest) I most definitely regret saying you are as daft as a brush I apologize I accept that my comments caused you distress I regret making them. There, now there is no reason why you should not continue to participate in the forum, you can if you wish ignore me, but I hope not. William
  19. Thanks to Steve (Steve2006) and Robert (Robert Dubreaux) who advised against jump starting the car. Thanks to Brian (Tulpen) and Jose (PEPE) for link 'Help Please! My Mk4 Thinks I'm A Car Thief' good sense and attempts at peace making. Thanks to Mike (Bluesman) Ian (IHgs300) and janey for attempts at peacemaking Thanks to cleverdick for his good sense and intentions Thanks to Mark (lexusdaduk) for information on the keyless start buttons Thanks to Phil (The Acre) Rudy (Ruud) and Colin (Colin M) for their opinion It was never my intention to annoy anyone. When Ambermarine complained about my “Help I am thinking about buying this” thread claiming it was not Lexus related, When in fact it was. I owned two Lexus one an Ls 430 and one Ls 400 which I sold to a forum member. I apologized in general hoping to maintain harmony This in spite of not doing anything wrong, the thread was of interest to members as is evidenced by the number of replies. I posted Dead as a Dodo in good faith. Steve answered in good faith. Ambermarine was insulting. Also he was wrong, the information I later received from Brian, Jose, and Mark was very helpful. I have no control over what others perceive as truth, I do know, I had, have. no ill feeling towards anyone on this forum, and that includes Ambermarine. To close this post, I want to say, today I fitted a new battery and following advice from here, turned on Ignition for six minutes then off and started car as normal. Everything works as it should except the keyless start. Which I will return to later. I leave you with this. We do not see the world as it is. We see the world as We are. William
  20. Look at the leather seats they seem well polished by backsides going in and out Yes Jon, that coupled with failure to answer JPs simple questions, leads me to agree with you. The people I got the Nissan from, could not do enough for me. I always pay as much attention to who the seller is, as to the car itself.William
  21. Thanks Mark, I was looking to disable keyless go, but could only find the button that turns. It will click indicating on/of I thought this was keyless go. Now with the information I have got from you and the other members ( Thanks guys) I am going to take the battery out and have it tested and charged or replaced. I will update post when I start the car. Willliam
