  1. Had a mad moment :iraqi-info-minister: and bought a one owner FSH 2000 X reg Jag XJ8 3.2 120k on the clock for only £1500 thinking it had to be a bargain with the idea of using it as another weekend runabout...Thought it might also be a good idea to join their forum for tips etc...Jeeeesus I wasn't prepared for what I saw because there are literally hundreds of pages with nothing but problems and to rub salt into the whole saga took the jag out for a blast last night and there is a definite delay in the gearbox when moving off and according to the forum that's a £1200 fix!!!!.....I cannot believe how Jaguar got away with such poor quality even after Ford took over in the late 90's....LONG LIVE LEXUS!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/f38/
  2. Thanks Alan...Just no sign of water coming through the sunroof , checked the drainholes and they are clear
  3. Hi Guys With all this rotten weather we have had recently it has shown up one major problem in my Mk4. I have had to take out the carpet mats on the drivers side as they are absolutely soaking (passenger side bone dry) and I have no idea or how the water is getting in...has anyone else had this problem and if so where do I start looking to prevent any lasting damage starting??
  4. Hi Ambermarine...I put a bid in at the end of the auction but unfortunately wasn't successful, glad to hear that it has gone to somebody that appreciates the car!!! HiShame about that you did all the research and you would not have been dissapointed anyway you might see it running about its going to live in your direction. Will keep an eye out for it...Good luck with the new car, it looks fantastic!!!
  5. Hi Ambermarine...I put a bid in at the end of the auction but unfortunately wasn't successful, glad to hear that it has gone to somebody that appreciates the car!!!
  6. Hi Ben.. It was the reg no that I recognised as being a car that was on the BCA website about 2 weeks ago. It was at BCA Enfield and they had 2 LS400's for sale this one and a pretty tatty silver Mk3. Have to say that the guy that bought the Mk4 has cleaned it up well as it looked pretty scruffy pre sale!!!!!
  7. "I got pretty excited by this one: http://www.ebay.co.u...9#ht_901wt_1182 - it was only on there for a few days then the listing got pulled; it was on Auto Trader for £1495 so I'm assuming someone bought it before the auction finished and the seller took it off eBay. Thought that would probably have been a bargain" Nice enough car which was very recently sold at British Car Auctions not sure if it has been sold yet on E-bay but if it has at £1495 then the dealer has made a tidy little profit!!!
  8. Maybe this one would be worth a look Dave? http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/1994-lexus-ls-40-v8-4dr-auto-saloon-stunning-example-full-service-history-comes-with-private-reg/104746727
  9. Thanks Guys for your comments on the car and advice regarding the reg number which has now been removed. Have to say really enjoying driving the car , much more than my daily drive Range Rover!!! Anyway the background to my Lexus is as follows... It's a one previous owner 1998 Mk4 in Balmoral Bronze 4P1 has 123k miles on the clock and has a fully documented S/H including cambelt change at 112k. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I have had it at my local garage ( ex Lexus mechanic) for a health check, the report I got back from him was that he hasn't seen a cleaner LS400 for years which when you take the risk of buying online and at distance without viewing was a huge relief!!! I have listed below all the costs to date for no other reason than some feedback to forum. Purchase price..................£1600 Full service .......................£300 Lower ball joints................£80 Alloy re-furb.......................£250 Wheel balance...................£28 Lower front spoiler.............£37 Paint touch up and scratch removal..................£150 Air con re-gas.....................£70 Key fob reprogramme.........£30 Total..........£2545 I reckon spending roughly £1000 on a car that could last me another 10 years is worth every penny ...after all what kind of a car can you get nowadays for £2545???? not a great deal and certainly nothing quite like a Lexus!!!!..... :D
  10. Hi Guys not sure on how to post a picture...hopefully you can see a picture of my "new" car
  11. Hi Guys.. Just bought myself a "new" LS400 Since having a test drive of one of the very first LS400's back in 1990 and not being able to afford one then I vowed that one day I would have one...and here we are 22 years later and I finally bagged what I think is a cracker with a FSH. Anyway there are a couple of issues the first is the drivers heated seat is not working and secondly the radio display is faulty can anyone tell me if these will be expensive fixes and if parts are needed where can I find them without resorting to a Main Stealer. Cheers!
