  1. No idea how good or bad the car is but on the basis that it's everything you are looking for then It's Christmas time also the end of the month so you couldn't pick a better time to test the Stealer....offer £6k and see if they bite ..........good luck!!
  2. Sorry to hear about your health problems...here is the link to your post. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/88017-new-to-me-ls-430/
  3. ^ Welcome flakshack.....E-bay is a good place to look for towbars. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Brink-Detachable-Towbar-for-Lexus-RX300-2000-2002-/121485022203?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Touring_Travel&hash=item1c491253fb
  4. ^ Snow should be fine it's ice that causes the biggest problems with SUV's because of the raised centre of gravity. The worst scare I had was in a Range Rover a couple of years ago running on almost new Conti cross contacts , normally a good all weather tyre but absolutely hopeless in hard packed ice. I was crawling downhill on a busy road near a school when a couple of kids ran out from behind a parked car I tried to brake but knew the car would take off, fortunately I was able to slide it away from the kids and into the parked car causing only minor damage but I tell you my heart missed a beat!!!. Having previously thought about winter tyres this was the wake up call to fit them, I phoned my local tyre fitter and he put on 4 Vredestein Wintrac 4Xtremes that afternoon I then tried the same hill and was amazed at the difference. I have fitted winter tyres to all my vehicles since then and although we haven't had the severe weather like we had in 2010 I just feel happier knowing that if and when we do then my car is as safe as I can make it.
  5. I have just checked a compatibility chart and it would appear that your 2002 towkit will not fit your new 2005 car ....sorry
  6. If you are seriously considering the cost and effort of putting a system in then go for an aftermarket product like the Pioneer (which is excellent by the way) as you will find the interface simpler, more intuative and much more up to date ie, the ability to accept full postcodes etc and many of these systems also include free annual updates. I have the factory fitted Lexus Sat Nav in my 2006 400h and have just recently updated to a 2014 disc which is a vast improvement but still compromised by the limitations of the system.....I would forget your friends sat nav unless it's a freebie and even then I would still think twice.
  7. that is assuming a fault is being generated. Probably won't be for a simple vacuum leak. True...but worth a try
  8. You could spend hours trying to find whats causing the problem ,probably best to find a friendly garage and ask them to run a fault test for you or if you are techy minded buy a cheap fault finder online. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/320907639556?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0
  9. Once bitten forever...well you know the rest!! Welcome back to the fold Jonathan it looks as if you've found a really nice example well done!!
  10. Does that mean you have done 20k miles since the Spring of this year?
  11. Thanks for the replies...I think I will "take a chance" if those are the right words and do without any third party warranty and hope that Lexus's legendary reliability stays good for me over the next few years
  12. Fitted Vredestein Wintrac 4Xtreme's always had them on my Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 , fantastic tyres which happily stay on all year round with no reduction on grip or performance . Oponeo at £109 a corner :)
  13. ^ Perhaps Dan but my car is part Lexus service part independent so might not be easy getting a warranty from Lexus?
  14. Glad to hear of a good outcome and a big thumbs up to Churchill too!!!
  15. Thanks Steve your right I've had plenty experience with Land Rovers and had my fair share of problems along the way, my current LS400 is 20 years old and has never let me down...Do Lexus provide a free battery health check for all RX400h's?
  16. Been thinking about buying a warranty for my "new" 2006 Rx400h but having trawled through the internet I'm more confused than ever. There appears to be so many exclusions and get out clauses in theses policies and most won't even cover hybrids however I've found 2 that will to a max of £2000 per claim ( excluding the actual hybrid battery) but I'm beginning to wonder if the £798 for 3 years cover would be better staying in my pocket and instead saved for the normal routine maintenance and service costs. My only concern is that the Rx is a complex beast and if something does go wrong then I could easily rattle up a four figure repair bill so before I decide I thought I would ask someone on here for their opinions.
  17. Hi Colin. I see there are all sorts of power packs on the market from £50 right up to £300 so if the car battery doesn't actually start the car then presumably a cheap 300amp power pack would be more than enough?
  18. Ok got you....but what a potential nightmare :tsktsk: Edit: Just had a thought...say you got it jump started ,if you then put on the headlights or the air con at full blast would that prevent the car from going into hybrid mode if you had to stop for any reason?
  19. ^ Thanks for the reply, can you hook up something like this emergency pack to restart a Rx400h? http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Automotive/d60/Starters+Chargers/sd3219/6+in+1+Power+Station/p35983#item_detail
