  1. The service plan can be tailored to your requirements. I bought my RX400h at the end of May, and the dealer gave me the option to include the cam belt service into the service plan or leave it out. All depends whether you are prepared to pay for the expensive service in one go, or would rather spread the cost. The main advantage of the plan is that you do not have to worry about price increases and it is easier to budget for. I was told at the time that you also save 10% to 15% over the overall cost. It is to yours and to Lexus' advantage in the sense that you save a bit of money, and they know you will be coming back to them.
  2. Yes, but I believe you need to ask the dealer to do it for you
  3. Went to pick up my car this morning to be told that it was not there: the car was delivered back to the dealer yesterday, but they were not happy with the quality of the work and sent the car back to the workshop. I appreciate their thoroughness... just a shame that they forgot to let me know! - Still, I can't fault my local dealer (Southampton Hedge End). Sales and service staff have been very helpful.
  4. I have had my 400h Exec Limited Edition for near enough 2 months and love it. There are a few anachronisms such as the 80's tape deck, the old fashionned key, lack of mileage to refill display and others, but I think they contribute to the car's character. If you are after a car that is quiet, powerful, comfortable, reliable, full of gadgets: this is the car for you. I love the stereo system, the power tailgate, the swivelling xenon headlights, the heated electric seats and even the sunroof. If you are looking for a modern, cheap to run car, you ought to look somewhere else. Having said this, a AWD SUV is never going to be an economical way of motoring and I am not convinced that the german, diesel powered equivalent are any cheaper toi run once you have taken into consideration car tax and cost of diesel. At least you know that with a Lexus, the gadget will keep on going for some years! For me, the deal clincher was the car's reputation in terms of reliability, and also the excellent customer service from my local dealer. Yet again, my previous car was a Renault... so what do I know!?...
  5. I bought a Feb 09 / 58 plate RX400h a couple of months ago. While I was at dealership recently to get a mirror fixed, I pointed out that all 4 wheels showed signs of corrosion. The dealer was very helpful and responsive, took photos of all 4 wheels and sent these to Lexus UK, hoping that they would replace the wheels. The response was that they would not on the basis that the car was out of warranty. The car is at the dealership right now, having all wheels refurbished at the dealer's expense.
  6. Hi there, I was going to respond but I see that Colin has responded to all your points and I agree with all his comments. I too drive an exec limited edition... yes it does roll down steep hills, and yes, the key is rather ugly and old fashionned, and no there is no estimated range on remaining fuel. But don't let these details put you off what is an excellent car overall!
  7. If you are not bothered about the rear seat entertainment screens, but want all the other gadgets, you may want to consider the Executive Limited Edition, which I believe was the last edition before the car was replaced. You will then get ALL the extras, including adaptive headlights, Mark Levinson audio system, and even illuminated sill plates with the Lexus logo that glows blue when you open the doors... ain't that cool!?
  8. Mine is a 58 plate (Executive Limited Edition) that I have now owned for a couple of months. Over that period, I have averaged 29mpg, but without compromising my enjoyment of the car: each time I climb in the driver's seat, I promise myself that I am going to try and get the best MPG I can... but I just can't help myself! To mirror previous comments: you cannot compare the car to a 3.0L diesel SUV... you need to pitch it against a 4.0L V8. Also, you will not make the most of the hybrid from an economy perspective unless you often drive in town or in heavy traffic. For me, the main driver (?) for buying a RX400h, was peerless customer service, and utter reliability. So far, I have not looked back and I have been very impressed with my local dealer (Lexus Hedge End, Southampton)
  9. I believe that the M/L set up is standard on the SE-L but also the Executive Limited Edition
