  1. Great video, sums up exactly how I feel about my Mkiii !!!!
  2. My old mkii Granada had a steel sunroof and even in the winter I would regularly drive on sunny days with it fully open and the heater on! I still do with the LS. I prefer glass as I always have the blind back, as so many have pointed out, it makes the car feel so much lighter. Even my wife, who has lots of hair compared to me (most people have more hair than me!!) loves the moon roof open when it's sunny. I always vowed never again to buy a car without a sunroof but I've still got my sunroof-less Land Cruiser after 10 years of ownership. As a slight aside, when changing the oil in both vehicles this year, I couldn't help but notice that there is far more corrosion underneath my 16 year old Land Crusher compared to the 18 year old LS...... Mark.
  3. Could be.....sorry I can't upload my pictures, 'file too big' is the message I always get..... Wish my car had reversing sensors. Lovely looking car. Mark.
  4. Paul, if I was I'm in good company as James Bond was caught out by that trick in Goldfinger!!!!
  5. Don't know if the P reg green over silver Mk 3 I saw and flashed twice (what are the chances of that? On the way in and on the way home!!) is a member here. Er Indoors and I were enjoying a day out in Formby and Southport. We saw no red squirrels!!!! My Mk 3 is also green over silver and P reg..... Mark.
  6. Hi Mike, I tried an ebay one and did all I could to salvage my original, all to no avail. They kept sticking, so I gave up and put an old transistor radio aerial into the hole and removed the electric aerial motor fuse under the bonnet. Mark.
  7. Even on a cool day I love to open mine with the heater on. Wasteful maybe but oh so nice!!!! Mark.
  8. Hi, When I finally gave up on my electric aerial, I put a manual one in but didn't want the motor running, so I removed the 10 amp fuse labeled 'antena' from the under bonnet fuse compartment. This disabled the motor but the radio still works. Hope this helps.....Mark.
  9. Hi, Just to re-assure you, my LS on 193000 is fine (touch wood!!!) gearbox wise but my 1999 Land Cruiser (Land Crusher as we call it) required a complete auto gearbox re-build for the contamination issue. Something I inherited from the previous owner. I've owned her since 2007 with 85000 miles on the clock, she now has 142000, so I have a fleet of old high mileage vehicles....sorry my BMW R1150RS motorbike is only 13 years old and 26000 miles!!!! As an aside some one once told me that BMW also make cars????!!! Best wishes, Mark.
  10. Finally given up trying to get my electric aerial to work. The original was frequently reluctant to retract so I took it out and tried all sorts of solutions but the plastic 'tail' had either been cut short in the past or broken off. On Monday I fitted a replacement from the auction site....it seemed to work albeit stiffly. Not long after I gave feedback it too started to stick. In and out numerous times until this morning it jammed completely, broke the plastic tail trying to get it out. I have now done the same as I did with my broken Land Cruiser aerial, sawn the end off a telescopic radio aerial and fitted it in the hole. Moral? One gets what one pays for..... Mark.
  11. Hi Joe, I bought Khumo tyres which, at first, seemed reasonably quiet. Not so now. I will get Falkens next time! Mark.
  12. Joe, good luck with your search. I had to travel lots and look at a good few before I bought Betsy!! Keep looking. Mark.
  13. Yes Joe, that was a nice one, a bit rich for my pocket though. Just been for a 180 mile round trip to drop number 2 daughter off, lovely ride back via Bridgnorth to avoid motorway snarl ups. Despite lack of aircon, had moon roof open there and back....nice! Maybe stick with Betsy for the moment....Mark
  14. Just an update on the grey one on ebay, Had a bid on this morning but now showing no bids? Mark.
  15. Thanks Phil, yes I feel that I am privileged to be able to drive such an exclusive vehicle but also aware that I am at the end of the food chain in terms of ownership! Speaking of which I've just done the shopping run to Shrewsbury and back, sunroof open and a glorious V8 under my right foot. Despite a few niggles, what's not to love!! Yes, no bidding after a few reds....... Mark.
  16. Good point, the grass is always greener and my wife would still hate whatever LS I bought, she refers to it as too big to drive yet it has the same footprint as the old Land Cruiser that she so loves driving! I think I will just drive and enjoy......Mark.
  17. Thanks Malc, the voice of reason! It may be better to stick with what I know....but....that itch that I can't quite scratch...I'll have to drink about it! Cheers....
  18. Yes I drove a couple of Mk4's when I was looking for my current car three years ago. So long ago I just remember being blown away, I think the Mk3 is almost as good. However there is less to go wrong on the Mk3 and I have never had a battery drain problem. That said, either, as long as it's good! There is another on that auction site for £2500 which, on the face of it, looks brilliant, just a bit too much and too far. Point taken re the price of the grey one, I wouldn't want to bid much more to be honest. Mark.
  19. I am thinking of updating my Mk3 with either a lower mileage Mk3 or a Mk4. There is, what looks to be, a nice one on the well known auction site but... cambelt changed at 67000 in 2003. Mileage now 115000, it's an R Mk3 so a late one. Is it worth a punt as I would need to drive all the way from Essex to North Shropshire to get the belt done by my local garage? I have visions of bad luck with it being so old. Comments gratefully received. Mark.
  20. WD40 can be good for loosening things up but always follow up with perhaps a little light oil applied to the sides of the key or a squirt of white lithium grease with PTFE..... Good luck, Mark.
  21. Wish I could afford it, looking to update my current MK3!!!!! Mark.
  22. Surprisingly difficult to say, MoT due soon but I know broken springs are not always obvious! I will have a look this weekend. Tnanks.
  23. Hope someone can help please? When I started her up a couple of weeks ago there was a bit of a bang from somewhere. The auto climate now seems to groan every time I start up initially and doesn't increase/decrease fan speed automatically any more. All modes can be selected manually and the fan speed likewise. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark.
  24. Sorry to be the harbinger of doom and gloom but my experience with my Land Cruiser is that you can fix the problem and flush...and flush...and flush and maybe extend the box life by a year or two with occasional breakdowns. In the end the box will more than probably need a re-build. Good luck...Mark.
