  1. Is this the ls 400 that lexuschap had for sale a while ago? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-W-LEXUS-LS-400-V8-AUTOMATIC-BURGUNDY-LS400-AUTO-MK4-4DR-RETRO-JAP-LUXURY-/381408225668?hash=item58cdb3a984#viTabs_0 Same reg, same colour, same tear in the drivers seat?
  2. I would keep it standard if it was me as well, it's too nice :) I would have probably looked at myself but it was about a 4 hour journey there and back so basically a full day and a tank of diesel to look at a car.
  3. looks like he has sold it Already has another for sale, a bronze one!
  4. The bordeaux red one is a little too far for me to travel (about 3 hours) but even though it's been bought by a dealer and is being sold on, it looks quite reasonable for the price assuming the service history is decent. If you were bothered by the seat you could possibly get lucky and get a drivers seat from a scrap yard.
  5. Back on gumtree again! Now has 3 keys instead of 2. I get the feeling someone has bought it, fixed a few issues and is now trying to sell it for a lot more..
  6. This one has been listed on ebay before but it didn't hit the reserve. If you look at the completed listings the guy answered some questions regarding it. It looks very tidy and I think it looks well smart but I'd be worried that it's around the age where everything would start wearing out and causing issues. Maybe someone with more experience would be able to tell whether it was worth the money but I wouldn't trust myself not to miss something important. Just out of interest, runsgreatasanut, what work have you had done on yours? Any more or just what you have mentioned?
  7. Was doing the washing up with BBC1 on and they had a picture of a green ls 400 (P reg I think) which had it's passenger side dented and covered in a lot of water. Apparently there have been high waves in Devon/Cornwall, looks like someone parked their car close to the sea and it took a bit of a battering! Oh dear Poor thing! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-33775958 Apparently this was in IIfracombe harbour
  8. Don't know if I'm being way too picky in my search for an LS400, but this one seems a bit overpriced IMO. Why mention the boot seal and brakes done around 3 years ago? I'd want to know more about the last 3 years, which have been glossed over a bit. I saw another Mk IV up for sale recently for half the price - It was a bit tatty but had a recent cambelt and loads of work done, to me it's more important that the owner has spent the money on important mechicanical work than tacky V8 badges. Maybe I'm wrong and being too harsh, but these are expensive cars to fix if something goes wrong, and considering he's not willing to budge on price, it would have been nice to include more detail about the services and any mechnical work, MOT advisorys etc..
  9. One of my family has Continental Premium Contact 2 on their car, I think they are quite a soft tyre and are probably the best in terms of what I have driven lately. I have goodyears on my car which are supposed to be a lower db rating, they are definetly louder although it's difficult to really be sure unless you test them all on the same car!
  10. I haven't bought a ls 400 yet but I'm interested to know what the tyre noise is like? Obviously it varys depending on the tyre and road surface, but is it generally more quieter because of the insulation in a car like this? I tried to get quiet tyres on my current daily driver (fiesta) but the tyre noise ranges from ok to almost deafening. Other cars I've been in do have tyre roar but on some cars it's quite acceptable. How does the ls 400 compare to other cars people have tried?
  11. That sounds nice, I do like a car with a proper sunroof! I'm still looking to get an LS 400 as I plan to do a few road trips around the UK and europe and don't think my current car would be very pleasant (noisy, slow and uncomfortable) Noticed there's a few on gumtree, I'm a bit tempted by a couple on there, trouble is they are always at least 2-3 hours drive away!
  12. Probably someone messing the seller about so the bid got cancelled. Ebay psychology is a bit weird like that - I've seen cars finish without selling, then when the seller relists 2 months later with a lower starting price, the bids end up higher than the classified price from 2 months ago! Notice that gold mk4 has gone now - Was tempted by that one myself, but the price was almost LS 430 money and there was a few concerning things like the engine capacity was wrong when you looked up the tax status.
  13. I've seen a lot of ls 400 's with the black rear parking sensors - I assume these were never an manufacturer option, and a lot of people just have aftermarket ones fitted because of the size of the car - Is this right? Thanks
  14. That one looks very nice, not trying to diss the car but although the cambelt was done 40k ago, that was back in 07 according to the service book. The 16 stamps is misleading as well, as most of them are 6 months apart. Looks very tidy though and it's quite hard to hide dents/marks when it's clean like that.
  15. It's a shame all these cars are too far from me. I see a few for sale from time to time in my area but there usually something I spot on the pictures that puts me off.
