  1. Can the sat nav be changed to an english cd and taught to speaka da english! and it would be very helpful if you could give me the link or tell me where to look for the 3 piece car! might save me from an expensive mistake! Thank you Keith
  2. Hi folks, Could someone please tell me the difference between the Japanese model and the uk one.? I did notice that even the 96 Celsior had sat nav etc. Also is there any downside to buying and running an import? I.e. parts? Insurance etc? Thanks a lot, Keith
  3. The lads on the merc club forum are passionate about their cars as well, but no where near this forum about their ls400's.
  4. Hi mark, Yes we did talk a few times, but am still waiting for my car back so it can be sold on, or swapped in. Chuffed that you got a decent car back, as I know you were a bit undecided about the 430. Good on you. It's a bit of a minefield out there, lots of cars for sale, and some decidedly dodgy ones. Just hope I can sell the merc quickly now, as I don't suppose that anyone here has a mint mk4 they want to swap for an immaculate E300 Mercedes!
  5. Hi folks, I presently run an old 1990 w124 mercedes e300, which is in a body shop after some moron keyed it. It's a great car and only 67000 miles with full history, but I am hankering after a 400! Will be like new when I get it back hopefully at the end of the week with a full respray. So, I intend to sell it, and buy a 400 as soon as I see a decent one. It will be a keeper which ever one I buy. The question I have is that I don't really like the dash of the mk4 and its big screen satnav, so am thinking about a good mark three instead. I know they are all good but is the mk4 really better than the previous model? Or is It the bit of extra power and the dash with sat nav? What do you think?
  6. I believe it was due to end at around 9pm tonight, and he withdrew it at about 8.30 this morning, so just before the deadline.
  7. It was withdrawn from sale, just before the deadline for doing so. I have contacted him to see what's happening with the car, and if its sold or will be re- listed. I reckon he took an offer for it. Either way I would not bid on it now as a matter of principle. Will let you know what he says if he bothers to get back to me.. Don't hold your breath as I sent the message at 9am this morning!
  8. The very low annual mileage for the last 10 years would make me wary on this car. Average of 1200 miles a year! Must have been standing for lots of long periods, and that's not good for a car. Does look well though.
  9. I enquired about the cam belt, and it was done at 90k.by lexus the history says. @bluesman, thanks for the welcome, I actually played bass in a yorkshire based blues band for many years, until I retired. Was called Mulesweat. silly names but i always loved the Blues.
  10. It seems like good 400's are still selling for decent money. So, what do you think of this one? http://www.mtsv.co.uk/info/LS400.htm
  11. Some good tips here now! Oh and I forgot to say that you have to have the radio full on so your passengers don't distract you as they scream in what has to be obvious delight at your fabulous driving skills.
  12. Been learning a lot about driving in snow by watching how people cope with it here in sunny Donny. First, you have to use full throttle everywhere. Spin the wheels every chance you get. (It shows everyone that you have awesome power) If you come to a bendy bit, saw on the wheel and try to go from full lock to lock. Always use the kerb or roadside bank to keep you actually on the road. And finally, if you do find yourself unable to stop easily, just use the car in front to slow you down. They won't mind. Hope these tips help a bit, they should do as lots of folk round here swear by them. Enjoy the drive Keith
  13. Hi ManicMark, I saw that your car was sold...pleased for you and for the new owner, as I am sure he got a great car. Can't wait to get mine now.. Doesn't time go slow when you are waiting? :-)
  14. Thanks to all for the welcome, looks like this is a great forum. Cheers for now Keith
  15. Two owners, the first for over 12 years. Car has got a full a4 file with all mots, service bills etc. and I know the chap that has it now, so I know it's a decent car. Can't wait!. Just love that V8! Will get some pics as soon as I pick the car up.
  16. Thanks Steve. Have seen one or two Ls's about here, but not many. The chap next door actually has a Mark one in tidy nick, so soon there will be two in the same street!. Getting common as muck! Cheers Keith
  17. Hi Lexmanic, and thanks for the welcome. Yes it took a while, but I have sorted myself out a car now. It's a 1996 Ls400, full lexus history, and just over 100k. Colour is Cashmire with grey leather. Can't pick it up until the month end as the wheels are being refurbed, as there is some flaking on them. Looking forward to picking it up! Cheers Keith
  18. Hi folks, Have been looking at the forum for a while and thinking about buying a LS400. Just wanted to say Hello from not so sunny Doncaster, and looking forward to picking up my new (to me!) car at the end of the month. Good to be here. Cheers for now Keith
