  1. Yes ManicMark, I always watch cars that sell as well. It's interesting the sheer variety of prices cars go for, doesn't seem to be any happy medium at all, just whatever someone is prepared to pay for a car. And after the talk about petrol left in cars for the new buyer, the seller told me that he had filled the car with enough fuel to make sure that I would get home ok. Good of him to do that. It was appreciated. I was happy with what I paid for the car. I don't think its expensive. The vendor thought that it would go for a few hundred more than it did, but he's happy and so am I. I think the mileage probably put some folk off the car, so not too much competition for it in the end. My max bid was quite a bit more than I actually paid for it, but it wasn't needed. Nice one.
  2. I hope so mate..thank you. Time will tell, but so far all looking good. Drives superbly. Cheers Keith
  3. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=80852 here is the link to the thread mate
  4. I think it was this chap mate: Dale_V Hes in south Yorkshire. if you look back throught the posts in this bit its a few weeks ago about the 8th Feb i think.
  5. Well I made it back ok.. in fact far more than ok. The car drove faultlessly. Suspension, brakes gearbox and motor in fact everything about the car would not tell you that it has covered 144500 miles. Had a better check now and all electrics etc. work as they should.. To say that I am delighted is an understatement. I reckon I stole it! I have just spent the last hour outside sat in it having a fiddle! I actually bought the car from ebay, and the only thing i can see that is not 100% with it is a small 1/2 inch ding on the drivers side wing.. Dents r us will have no problem getting it out as the paint is not broken at all. apart from that it looks like a 3 yr old car. Was a bit unsure about buying a car with that sort of mileage, but lots of folks on here say they are just run in at that amount, and they were right.. By the way, its a yr 2000 car, full history all stamped up. two owners last one for 9 years. Mot until next Febuary. Private plate came with it. Did i say i am delighted...oh yes i did didnt I? I have attached a couple of pics the seller put up, hope they come out ok for you. Anyway, hope the images are ok for you, if you spot anything bad.. dont tell me until next week! lol Cheers folks Keith
  6. Thanks folks, its appreciated. My son is collecting us at about 9.30 or so, so should be collecting the car at about lunchtime. Shame about the fog, but as you say its going to be a good day! Cheers Keith PS. WOW..even the wife is smiling!
  7. As long as it will crawl to the garage that will do me. I certainly would make sure that it would have ample petrol to get to where he can fill it up. Nothing would destroy the feeling of picking up your new car more than running out of petrol at the end of his drive! I would not be very happy, and if the positions were reversed I would expect him to be a bit miffed as well.
  8. It's not the amount of fuel the car may or may not use. I know that its going to use a fair amount, but not much more if any than my Mercedes W124 300E. It's the fact that if you are 10 miles from a petrol station and there is 5 miles of fuel n the car when you arrive to collect it.... You have a slight problem, and the seller should realise that and make sure you can at least get to a filling staton ! Lol.. But It all adds to the fun and and excitement of collecting your new car...
  9. Drive will be about 50 ish miles so not too far. It's always bugged me a well, about the no petrol lark. This car tomorrow is in a small village with no petrol station as far as I know, so I will have a can with me, just in case! Hopefully it will be a nice drive.
  10. Well...Tomorrow is the day that I finally get to collect my new car. Been waiting since I bought it on Sunday night. That's long enough! Really looking forward to the trip back, just hope its as good as I think it is! Will let you know how I get on with that first drive.. Cheers folks Keith
  11. Nice one Steve, thanks for that info mate, its appreciated. Looks like we will be taking a run to Leeds or Welsh Wales then isnt it!
  12. Thats interesting Steve. Thanks mate. So if a decent installation is say £1400, and i do 8000 miles a year it would pay for itself in that year? Thats a lot better than i figured. I will have to do a bit of studying on the figures as i really have no idea how to work out any possible savings. Will look for LPG threads here and see what i can figure out.
  13. Hi Folks, Does anyone know of a good service centre in Doncaster for an LS400? There seem to be a couple of Japanese specialists if you google it, but none specifically for Lexus. Any ideas? Thanks a lot,
  14. I'm thinking of doing the same, but the miles I do (Maybe 8k a year or so max) it would take years just to break even.. Mind you its all savings after that, unless of course our illustrious leaders decide to hammer gas prices like they have the other two main fuels. Is gas better at short urban journeys or long runs for saving some cash?
  15. He had that in his ebay advert as well Mark. Something doesnt seem quite right there eh? But what he told Messi sounds like it could be right. Anyway, if the car is straight someone got a decent deal.
  16. It's silver with black trim. I do like the green cars though they look classy. But I went and saw this one, it looked good to me, so I ended up buying it. Now I just hope that it is ok, as I am certainly no expert on the LS400 , time will tell eh?
  17. Lol....that's exactly what I have bought mate, a 2000 MK4' and found it only 45 miles from me--really looking forward to actually picking the car up.
  18. Lol... That's what I call tight! Not got my LS yet so no idea how much room there was. Should have it by Wednesday ..roll on..
  19. I always used to change my own oils.. but now i have got old and fat its a lot harder...as i dont seem to fit under the car anymore...maybe the axle stands have shrunk! One thing i always used to do with a tight oil filter that you couldnt turn, especially if you dont have a proper oil filter wrench, was to shove a screwdriver through the filter so you have some leverage to turn it. It works.
  20. Would be rude not to buy that car! Sounds excellent. If you do get it, let us know how it is, and good luck
  21. I will be interested to see how much he lists it for again, assuming of course that he bought it to sell on that is.
  22. Thank you for that, it's really appreciated. The car I was looking at said it was a one owner and approx 80k miles. Don't know about being converted. i do know that when I ran a trial insurance quote, Teso who I am with now for my w124 merc. wanted over twice the price for this car than a normal ls400! I think the car I was looking at must have been a top spec car, as it has the full rear seat controls, sunroof, sat nav, leather trim etc.etc. Will contact them again and see what he say to all my new questions!. Thanks a lot, Kith
