Yes ManicMark, I always watch cars that sell as well. It's interesting the sheer variety of prices cars go for, doesn't seem to be any happy medium at all, just whatever someone is prepared to pay for a car. And after the talk about petrol left in cars for the new buyer, the seller told me that he had filled the car with enough fuel to make sure that I would get home ok. Good of him to do that. It was appreciated. I was happy with what I paid for the car. I don't think its expensive. The vendor thought that it would go for a few hundred more than it did, but he's happy and so am I. I think the mileage probably put some folk off the car, so not too much competition for it in the end. My max bid was quite a bit more than I actually paid for it, but it wasn't needed. Nice one.

Well I made it back ok.. in fact far more than ok. The car drove faultlessly. Suspension, brakes gearbox and motor in fact everything about the car would not tell you that it has covered 144500 miles. Had a better check now and all electrics etc. work as they should.. To say that I am delighted is an understatement. I reckon I stole it! I have just spent the last hour outside sat in it having a fiddle! I actually bought the car from ebay, and the only thing i can see that is not 100% with it is a small 1/2 inch ding on the drivers side wing.. Dents r us will have no problem getting it out as the paint is not broken at all. apart from that it looks like a 3 yr old car. Was a bit unsure about buying a car with that sort of mileage, but lots of folks on here say they are just run in at that amount, and they were right.. By the way, its a yr 2000 car, full history all stamped up. two owners last one for 9 years. Mot until next Febuary. Private plate came with it. Did i say i am delighted...oh yes i did didnt I? I have attached a couple of pics the seller put up, hope they come out ok for you. Anyway, hope the images are ok for you, if you spot anything bad.. dont tell me until next week! lol Cheers folks Keith

As long as it will crawl to the garage that will do me. I certainly would make sure that it would have ample petrol to get to where he can fill it up. Nothing would destroy the feeling of picking up your new car more than running out of petrol at the end of his drive! I would not be very happy, and if the positions were reversed I would expect him to be a bit miffed as well.

It's not the amount of fuel the car may or may not use. I know that its going to use a fair amount, but not much more if any than my Mercedes W124 300E. It's the fact that if you are 10 miles from a petrol station and there is 5 miles of fuel n the car when you arrive to collect it.... You have a slight problem, and the seller should realise that and make sure you can at least get to a filling staton ! Lol.. But It all adds to the fun and and excitement of collecting your new car...

Thats interesting Steve. Thanks mate. So if a decent installation is say £1400, and i do 8000 miles a year it would pay for itself in that year? Thats a lot better than i figured. I will have to do a bit of studying on the figures as i really have no idea how to work out any possible savings. Will look for LPG threads here and see what i can figure out.

Hi Folks, Does anyone know of a good service centre in Doncaster for an LS400? There seem to be a couple of Japanese specialists if you google it, but none specifically for Lexus. Any ideas? Thanks a lot,

I'm thinking of doing the same, but the miles I do (Maybe 8k a year or so max) it would take years just to break even.. Mind you its all savings after that, unless of course our illustrious leaders decide to hammer gas prices like they have the other two main fuels. Is gas better at short urban journeys or long runs for saving some cash?

I always used to change my own oils.. but now i have got old and fat its a lot harder...as i dont seem to fit under the car anymore...maybe the axle stands have shrunk! One thing i always used to do with a tight oil filter that you couldnt turn, especially if you dont have a proper oil filter wrench, was to shove a screwdriver through the filter so you have some leverage to turn it. It works.

Would be rude not to buy that car! Sounds excellent. If you do get it, let us know how it is, and good luck -

Thank you for that, it's really appreciated. The car I was looking at said it was a one owner and approx 80k miles. Don't know about being converted. i do know that when I ran a trial insurance quote, Teso who I am with now for my w124 merc. wanted over twice the price for this car than a normal ls400! I think the car I was looking at must have been a top spec car, as it has the full rear seat controls, sunroof, sat nav, leather trim etc.etc. Will contact them again and see what he say to all my new questions!. Thanks a lot, Kith
