  1. Hey ...I'm getting embarrassed here! Thanks for the nice comments folks, they are appreciated. John, I have found a couple of things that I meant to hand over to you when you collected the car on Saturday. I have the disc case for the sat nav disc and another disc about the LS 400 that came with the car when new. I will send them off to you mate, as you may find it interesting. Really happy that you liked the drive back to Glasgow, and you will get to like the car more and more as you drive it, and see just how good these cars are. Cheers for now, and if its ok I will stick around here for a while...its a great friendly forum. I was a member of a few mercedes forums prior to this, and I can assure you this one is a lot better, and some very knowledgeable folk that love to help the rest of us. Keith
  2. Pleased you enjoyed the drive back up to Glasgow from not so sunny Doncaster John. Its always a pleasure to take one of these cars on a long distance run, and remarkable how fresh you are when you get there! Thanks for purchasing it, and I hope you get to enjoy it for many years to come. Cheers Keith
  3. Just to let you know that the new owner of my LS400 is right now winging his way homewards with the car. Hes a lovely chap, and I am delighted that someone like him has purchased the car. Thanks again for all your positive comments, they were appreciated. I am sure he will let you know that he is the new owner soon. oh and it is a forum member.. Cheers for now, Keith
  4. Thanks Ray, that's appreciated. I will certainly miss the car, it's about perfect, but needs must I suppose, and it's got to be sold soon.
  5. Just a quick query please... Someone has told me that unless they are a gold member, they cannot see the images on the for sale thread. Is that correct please? And if so is it ok to post the for sale post on this forum? And if I did, can they they see images here? Thanks folks, Keith
  6. Thanks Iain, that is appreciated mate. It certainly isn't what I want, but hopefully someone will buy it and look after it like these cars should be treated. Cheers mate, Keith.
  7. Thanks mike.. Not a lot I can do about the health stuff mate, but I hope ithe car goes to someone who will look after her anyway...
  8. THIS IS NOW SOLD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. Hi folks, I have just put my car up for sale in the for sale section here. The reason for this, is that i have a recurring health problem and am going to need a small hatchback that will handle a chair before too much longer. Its an extremely regretful sale, as i have spent a lot on the car to get it into top shape, and as it should be. The details and lots of pictures are there for you to read. I would like the car to go to a forum member, as that way it will be appreciated and looked after properly. If you have any interest and want to talk to me about the car, just pm me, and i will send you my number by return, or give me your number and i will ring you asap. By the way, the car is in Doncaster. Cheers Keith
  9. We took a little run out today and popped oevr to Steve's place down in derbyshire to pick up the headlamp link. Nice chap who showed me the cars he has there...and his own Japanese import which is excellent. The link by the way is superb. very well made and this one will last... if you need one give him a shout. Thanks a lot Steve, was good to meet you. Keith
  10. Mine was a combination of the parking brake, rear brakes, and the rear wishbone bushes. I ended up changing the parking brakes complete, the rear discs and pads and the read suspension arms. Now its great.. lots of money but they all needed doing to make the car 100%, so they got done.
  11. Hi Tom, Dont get me wrong mate.. I am quite happy with the car, in fact the car is superb. Its just that it seems like the smallest thing on them just costs a fortune to fix. However now most of it is done, the car is performing like a dream. I still have some bushes on the front suspension to take care of in the next few months or so, but there is no hurry for those at all. It passed the last mot with no advisories, but I wasn't happy with it and so I decided to spend whatever was required to sort out the problems with it I thought needed doing. I don't want to spend any more on it at the moment, and to be honest the front suspension is ok. Just not perfect and has the odd knock when I drive over a large pothole etc. so I know there are some things that need sorting out, and me being me, will not be happy until its as perfect as a 13 year old car can be.
  12. Oh... cambelt and water pump etc. Rear wishbones. and associated bushes rear handbrake units, cables etc. Rear brake discs and pads Front brake discs and pads. full service All genuine parts, as i intend to keep the car, so wanted it as good as possible. Soon builds up mate, mind you she is running and driving superbly now. good thing too as i am skint now!! lol
  13. Its the rear suspension link Steve. It got broken i suspect when the rear wishbones were changed.
  14. Hi folks, Had a look round the underneath of my car this afternoon, and found that the plastic link for the auto headlamp height was broken. Any idea where the best place would be to get hold of one of these. i suspect that even though its just a black plastic link, it will be mega expensive, and after spending £2.7k plus on my car this year already i don't want to continue the trend, as enough is enough! Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks folks, Keith
  15. Same here. Just back from a week in Scotland and approx 1000 miles and lots on cruise control. It keeps the speed I set it at, no matter how steep the hills up and down. By the way, the car was an absolute pleasure, and after 7 hours driving not even an ache. Brilliant long distance cars.
  16. Both my mirrors dip. no difference which side the switch is, they both do the same. But not if the switch is in the middle.
  17. I was offered pattern parts (I think they were Padgets? or something like that) for about £230 fitted, but for the extra £65 i preferred to have the genuine parts on the old gal. Gave her a bit of stick this afternoon and the brakes are now superb..
  18. Just to let you know that I have had the front discs and pads done now..used genuine lexus parts and now the brakes are superb. The vibration has completely gone, and even the pedal feels better. Hopefully this will not come back again and I can now enjoy the car without worrying about the next bill that's on its way!
  19. Sorry to be a bit off topic, but can I ask how much it was to change the front ball joint? Thanks a lot, Keith
  20. Took the car to the Toyota dealership in doncaster today, and they checked the brakes and told me that the front left hand disk is definitely warped. they said that as i use the brakes more and more if I am pressing on a tad, then the warp will just get worse, until they cool down again. They said I need new disks, so I am going to change them for original equipment disks instead of the alternatives they gave me that were a bit cheaper. Also going to change the pads as well. They looked at the calipers and said that they look ok, not too dirty and no sign of a sticking piston. Will let you know how the brakes are after that, and hopefully then it will be all ok..if not, then the Toyota dealers will have some explaining to do!... Thanks for all the advice and help folks. Cheers Kith
  21. The problem with that is that if it is the calipers and not the disks, i would end up replacing everything for a simple clean up job..
  22. Thanks for the help folks. Am going to take the car to the local toyota dealer and see if they can check the disk runout and maybe strip and clean them. I know the front pads are good and have plenty of life left in them. Wll let you. Know how I get on. Cheers Keith
