Losing My Job
Bassman replied to messi's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Sorry to hear that you are losing your job. Not a good thing to happen but don't give up hope, there are decent jobs out there mate, not as easy to find or to get as they once were but still available. Pass the word to everyone you know and get them keeping their ears open for you. It's definitely one of the best ways to hear of vacancies before they get advertised. Good luck with it. Keith -
Mine were moving a bit when it was on a wheels free hoist, with pushing up on the wheels, but only a bit, could just see it moving. Will wait and see if thor racing can do bushes for it and if not, think I will get the rear brakes done first and see how it goes, before I get the suspension done, after all its just passed an mot this month with no advisories? Mind you if it has to be done then I will bite the bullet and get it sorted. I intend keeping this car for a long time, so its worth me doing it.

They rang me just before nine, to tell me that they had listened to the tape, and agreed that the date of purchase was never mentioned, but said that they had to have got it from somewhere, so insisted hat they wanted the extra £269 premium, approx an extra 70%! Needless to say they got the message to refund my premium right away, and that I would never consider insuring with them again, after such a rip off attempt. There was a bit of spluttering on the other side, and then an agreement to pay back the money I had paid in full. Tossers. Anyway I found a cheaper place, and will ring the two Mark suggested tomorrow, as they were closed tonight. Anyway still insured until the 2nd so no hurry to get new insurance. Tomorrow will do just fine. Cheers Keith

I will give them a try now Mark, thanks mate. To let you know whats happening with this.... I arranged cover through L&V and their rate was excellent. When the policy docs arrived yesterday thay had down on them that i purchased this car in 2002. Now patently that was incorrect, and when i rang them to inform them of that fact and that i had bought the car on the 3/3/2013, they first quizzed me if the car had a tracker fitted, and kept me waiting for nearly 10 minutes while they discussed the fact that it didnt with an underwriter as they said that they insisted on one being fitted. When they decided that I didnt need one after all, they said that as I had only just bought the car they wanted an extra £269 because I wasnt used to driving this car! I told em to stick it, and they were going to listen to the call when i bought the cover to see how this mistake happened, and see if they would waive the extra charge! Oh and they should have rung me back this afternoon. I just rang them and apparently they are still in the process of listening to the tapes. Will let you know what happens. Cheers Keith

Thanks mate, I will give them a call and see if they have any there at the moment, could save me a fortune!. cheers Keith Edited to say that they do list bushes for up to 1994 cars, so have emailed them to see if they do bushes for a Yr 2000 car and also if they offer a fitting service. They have the Super Pro bushes that I fitted to my IMpreza and that were excellent, ever so slightly harsher, but you could only just tell. I will let you know what happens, as it could be handy for other members as well as me. Cheers Keith

Just came back from the lexus garage, where they looked at the car to see what was needed. The list is endless! New rear brake disks and pads. New handbrake cables. New r/h and l/h wishbones P/n 48770and 48790, to be fair they are going to price up aftermarket parts for here as the lexus parts are close to £400 each! New tie rods And at the front new tie rods and various other things they reckon need changing! They reckon that you must change the wishbones as you can't fit new bushes to them? Anyone know why not? They look like they just have two simple bushes at the top end? Anyway, have to wait for them to see how much it will all cost and then decide what I am going to do. So my question is folks, does anyone know of a GOOD independant garage that can tackle this job for me., maybe using parts from the states, or aftermarket parts. Not too bothered where it is, if they do a good job at a reasonable price. Any help would be appreciated folks. Either way if it needs it , I am going to get this done even if its at the lexus garage, as the rest of the car is excellent. Will be expensive I reckon! Thank you Keith

Was driving my Green H reg Mercedes 300E to Keighley this morning to deliver it to its new owners, and in the roadworks section by leeds/bradford, a rather nice LS400 went past me. Cant remember the Reg no, but it was a late model silver car,, was that you? Actually that was the first Ls we have seen on the road since we bought ours..

I tend to agree with that. The LS is my car. It's the one I chose to drive. If something costs a bit to sort out then so be it. What's the alternative to fixing the car you have? Sell it? Buy another car, that will probably also need some sort of work doing and will probably be no match for the car you already have. I will sort the suspension out, and when I have I know that the car will be now excellent. Serviced, cam belt and water pump done, suspension sorted out......So i will keep it and if something else goes I will fix it.. It's my car. What does it matter that the car may be worth only 2500 and it cost you 3000 to get It in super condition?..its cheap super motoring..and thre are not many cars you can say that about.

Lpg Conversion
Bassman replied to Barry1000's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Could be interesting to find out which makes of conversion are being used here. I wonder if a certain make or installation is better with fuel than another? -
Hi folks Had the car serviced today and the cam belt and water pump changed. All went well and was done in about 4 or 5 hours or so.and I thought a great cost of just £570.87 including the parts and labour for the service. I asked them to check my suspension t make sure that this vibration I have been getting was not caused by worn suspension. They checked it and found the osr upper ball joint is worn, and the nsr lower arm outer ball joint is also worn. They got the prices from lexus and lexus told them that they have to change the complete hub as the ball joint that is worn is a part of the hub? They have quoted close to 700 for these two parts! So including fitting and geometry set up, its a bill for £930! Wow...Are the outer ball joints on the rear suspension arms actually part of the hub? Or can the ball joint just be changed. The receptionist that I spoke to at 5.30 after getting home, suggested that I ask on the forum, if anyone has second hand parts for this? Or to see if I could also order them from the states for a cheaper cost? She was horrified at the price from lexus. I will get more information on the parts I have to buy tomorrow, and pop back on here with the exact parts so I can actually sort out exactly how much this will cost me. Any advice folks?
