  1. The one I bought from Ebay was from a UK supplier, So I could have relatively easily returned it if it had not worked. Everything is made in China now, I suspect the "copies" half the time are made in the same factory, but sold to a local supplier.... It read the codes fine, a few of the other options were a bit iffy, but for the price, it did the job, picked up on Ruud's sticky VVti solenoid. I had the software loaded on an old XP laptop
  2. That's the one, great fun, I had no fault codes, which was nice to know as I had just got the car
  3. Probably should, 200k on my car, belt was changed at 128k 7 years ago, no mention of water pump renewal, so I assume the water pump is original, and there's 74k on the belt. I have read posts about the water pump seizing.
  4. I found one on Ebay a few years ago that works on my Mkiv Its a "Mini- vci J2534" with a "Techstream" CD from a company called Mystore365
  5. What sort of condition was the old belt? I have a theory that in this relatively benign climate they stay in good condition (trying to justify puting of my change...)
  6. A V8 4L automatic trike, oh my, that would be something, So , one driven wheel at the back? Tubular frame to support the front struts?
  7. Damn, we've been rumbled.. I never could understand how nobody seemed to notice you could spend 3k for a 50k car with a 2 k LPG conversion that drives like new
  8. I'd be inclined to sort the manifold leak and clear the error codes and see if that is it
  9. The one on mine was done at 136k on mine, It was owned by a mechanic mate of mine. He got it done by a company here while he was in he asked how much would they recon it remove & fit it for. They quoted him £100 so he let them do it , I don't think they will do another one for that sum some how. I bet they won't ....
  10. Had the starter contact problem, been there, I'm surprised you're not hearing a click, are you on a noisy street? Once the engine warms up, it's usually ok. My problem was always with the first cold start of the day, so I wasn't to worried about getting stranded during the day. I left it untill it sometimes took 10 tries to get started, but this is bad for the starter I changed the contacts myself, in decent weather under a covered drive, it;s not a side of the road job. I did it with the starter in place, a very fiddly job, for the simple reason I didn't have the right socket set or curved spanner to get the sodding thing out. The contacts were badly worn and I haven't has any bother with it since- 6 months
  11. Just guessing here, but if its an after-market install, perhaps the installer picked the wrong speakers to tap into? I have a Parrot kit on my LS400 and it sounds fine
  12. Not your first! The're your hobby! (Ian from Glasgow, new I.D., couldn't get my old one to work) How did it go with the one with the sticking camshaft timing valve?
