  1. I read this thread trying to get the lowdown on where to find cheap parts. This is what I found. Amayama: Cheap but cost of shipping from JPN is expensive RockAuto: cheap parts, cheaper shipping than JPN so it's best to get lots of parts in one go but there customer service is not helpful. solution: Maindealer Edinburgh: 2x rear shocks for 2005 GS300 GRS190 = £180 appx. Self fitted: Apart from wheel bolts only 4x bolts where removed on each side to complete this change. 1. Remove cladding from boot, take pictures of the clips and where they go but it needs to be stripped bare!! 2. Clamp springs and compress so they move freely on the shock. 3. Remove 3x bolts including stabiliser link, ride height/ weight sensor (affects AFS) and shock absorber bolt. Loosen (only) bolt at top of lower suspension arm. Have something ready to support the hub assembly incase falls when shock absorber bolt is removed, mine didn't. 4. Remove top bolt of shock absorber in boot. No need to touch the three around it for the top mount. 5. Slight pull down suspension arm and place breaker bar down the centre of the arm to lever it down with foot as you pull down and shake shock to remove. There should be a reusable mount on the old shock plus 2x new rubber fittings and new top bolt with new shock. Replace as on old shock. 6. Replace with new shock, make sure the bottom of Spring lines up with raised lip on bottom of shock. 7. On the NS make sure the ride height sensors has not moved or your AFS will blink when you turn car back on. Take picture of this before you start you you know how it should be as it can move easily. 8. Replace cladding and tools in boot and food to go! Now rides like new and almost all knocks now eliminated from driving experience.
  2. If there is no issue with the TPMS - then it should go off I believe when you refill the tyre pressure to the correct pressure. If it fails to go off you may need to reset the system - the button on the 2005 GS 300 is located under the steering column close to where the diagnostic connection is or under the glove box. If you have the manual, cant remember what page, it will give you instructions on how to reset the TPMS system and exactly where it is located.. If the light still stays on you might need to get in touch with a tyre fitter that has the right diagnostic tools to locate which sensor is faulty. I have the same problem - a couple of the sensors are buggered so I brought some new ones £45 each from eurocarparts. I have decided to get all four replaced - which will cost £45 incl VAT for changing over new senor and rebalancing wheels and £40 to reprogram the sensors. Hope this helps.
  3. Hi mate they are on the high Road at 560B on the right as head from Ilford to Seven Kings.
  4. Ashar, Yeah mate they are on the right as you head out of town towards Seven Kings from Ilford.
  5. Guys - I would like to throw in my 2cents worth as well! But I think you will appreciate it! I needed Front N/S shock replaced due to a faulty seal. It took a few weeks to diagnose problem anyway in the end was fairly confident it was a shock. Got the parts from Hatfield Lexus (nice guys, £181 - it really pisses me off how you cant get a lot of the major parts from anywhere but Lexus for GS after 2005) and then took the car to Motor Masters on 508 Ilford High Rd (IG3) a little before the bend where Seven Kings train station is. The place is run by 2 brothers, Hamal and Sandeep who have a background in rebuilding engines, both instantly and hugely likeable chaps - who are always busy and speak fluent Swahili - bizarre but I think they lived a while in Tanzania, anyway I digress. As I called the day before and that morning to confirm they were only too happy to sort me out as soon as I arrived (well they had to make some room for my car so may be 15min wait was involved). They changed the shock absorber for £45-50. Albin quoted £323, JEM was over £400 mark but included alignment too and the main dealer I believe was around the same as JEM. I only got the faulty shock done - and omfg my car hasn't fallen apart! And neither has the effin world so rod off to all the gets who recommend getting both sides done. Its just a scam - although now that Ive probably jinxed myself will let you know if anything does happen to the other one. Anyhow, from now on I will taking it to Motor Masters in Ilford. They were friendly, honest and helpful. I recall them saying a major service for a GS300 would be £225 but it was mentioned in passing so I would call to confirm. That's it lads, rant over. Oh yeah Better Together on Sep 18, 2014!!! Go UK!
  6. I had a sound from Front N/S and it was driving me crazy - took it to everyone and anyone I could find apart from main dealer. National in Enfield recommended I change the shock absorber straight off the bat, as did Albin Motors in SE26 because it seemed as if it was coated in oil and therefore potentially a burst seal. However in the early stages it provided good damping and the bounce test was not conclusive and therefore I was hesitant to change a part what I knew was not going to be a cheap job (Albin quoted £323 each side). I left and the noise eventually got worse and then did the bounce test again some three weeks later and the Front N/S was like a trampoline - problem solved. All other parts were fine. Replaced the shock - part from Lexus Hatfield and fitted by Motor Masters at High Rod, Ilford IG3 and it solved the problem immediately - no more knocking!!! Oh yeah they all recommended doing x2 and I told them to rod off! Motor Masters did not however? I have had no issues with changing only one shock - no need for anyone to reply with tsk tsk - I don't give a :tsktsk: . They charged me £50 for fitting a shock absorber! And they did it while I waited. Outstanding service and I would recommend if you can to take it to them for fault finding too if you ever come near the London area. It was the first time I used them and I felt they were friendly, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. They even re-build engines, anyway had a good old chinwag with one of the owners (Hamal)! Anyhow - hopefully I haven't been teaching you to suck eggs - but if none of the parts are showing excessive wear then the only thing really for it is either to let the problem get worse so potentially an at fault part will stand out on inspection or start replacing some of the cheaper less expensive parts. I know you said you had some of the bushings done - but I suspect a lot of issues on many cars' suspension is probably just a faulty drop link or anti roll bar. National in Enfield quoted me around £62 to replace one - but I reckon if you're handy you can buy the part and do it your self - probably both sides for sixty quid and there are loads of how to videos on the net/ youtube - I would have done this myself but I just don't have the tools....
  7. Ormi, are you still the chap to speak to for specialist lexus servicing/ repairs in Edinburgh? I have a couple of issues which I want to sort urgently (i) knocking/ tapping noise passenger side front suspension (I think), (ii) TPMS lights wont go off. Im in the Army and move around quite a bit but will be back in Edinburgh in aug 14 when I would like to get these issues sorted. any guidance or help is appreciated! Waj.

  8. Guys thanks for the advice - the plastic push ones will do for radiator cover and I will approach Lexus for the metal ones: aly-g can you tell me the name of the ebay seller you got them from? and where you fitting them to an IS or GS? Will it make a difference which ones I get? Or are they designed to fit the same size hole - not really fussed if they don't look completely the same!
  9. I have the same problem - some of them were missing when I bought my GS 300 - so any M6 x 20mm will do? what about the plastic ones that fix the panel above the radiator and grill in place? Do you think I should approach my local lexus dealer or will I get my pants pulled down even for something so minor!?!?
  10. I bought a 2005 GS 300 with 45,000 on the clock - and it had an outrageous wobble on it when ever I went over 60mph and then a judder on breaking. I thought it would be a quick a fix on the wheels but then I started to investigate and found it could be a number of issues and that this is the infamous GS shake!!! needless to say after spending 6 grand I was completely bricking it!! Anyhow the balancing is the first step and cheapest - so took it to the tyre shop in Chingford (which although are not the cheapest are worth the money, IMO) which revealed some donut had put a directional tyre on the wrong way and that the balancing was out. With this fixed I took to the motorway and shake had completely fixed itself - going up to 140 without any issue. However the breaking judder is still there..... :-( Saw an American post and this guy stripped the wheel down to the hub and scrubbed it with wire wool till it was brand spanking new. At the same time he removed the screws which combine with the wheel nuts hold the entire assembly including tire in place (and scrubbed these too) - he claimed it fixed the problem but was wondering if anyone else has tried this? It seems like a lot of elbow grease for little reward!!! any thoughts welcome...
