I think i would be inclined to agree about sensor - I am not too sure on your rights & your warranty in respect to this but clearly the place where you bought the car is the first stop, it is always worth mentioning that you are a member of the Lexus Owners Club as they will be less likely to string you along if they know they will get negative publicity on here & indeed dont forget facebook & twitter most places hate them. If you say there are quite a few people following your thread on it it will probably help. I am just wondering if somehow the fluid filter in the gearbox has become blocked leading to low pressure (all you followers what do you think?) if so that is easy to do. I also wonder if there is a legal begal on Lexus owners club who can answer your statutory rights question - might be worth posting a request for help on the main Forum page Harry (worth a go) Richard

So beginning to get somewhere at least then Harry, on the older models like mine it is quite common to get the auxiliary transmission oil pump problem which if memory serves gives P2797 and sets the "Check Hybrid System" message. There are a Myriad of things that can set that. Glad your getting there, keep posting Richard

In all honesty there are a Myriad of possible causes Harry, bad 12v, bad hybrid, bad cat, - oxygen/air flow sensors, oil pump, bad cooling fan, blocked cooling fan, bad inlet air sensor bad temp sensor-faulty wiring, bad connections the list is endless only a Techstream check will reveal the culprate/s. The electrolyte in the cells is not sulphurous Harry but the resulting fumes of a leakage could well be - this would be extremely rare though Harry so don't worry too much about that. The battery modules can withstand quite large pressures without damage, but minor physical damage during assembly of the battery pack is always a possibility no matter how well they are checked prior to sale, i think it unlikely to be hybrid battery failure but nevertheless the possibility still exists. Hi Harry The 12v can cause all sorts of issues if it is faulty but being a 2010 model I seriously doubt it would be that, - what concerns me is this sulphurous smell you talk about as it could be electrolyte leakage possibly but that would again be quite rare. Your Hybrid Battery is still covered under warranty by Lexus so if there is an issue with it they are obligated to rectify it ! If you don't get anywhere with your Lexus dealer then escalate it up the chain. As a last resort I am around. All the Best Richard

This is so often the case, its really disappointing when we the general public & owners (like myself) of these cars who are led to believe & trust that Lexus dealers are the best & will do as they actually say they will, unfortunately to me (& a lot of my customers too by the way) it seems that most of them are Franchised & as such like pretty much all Franchised Dealers only really after one thing - your money of course. I really hope there are exceptions out there I cant believe all of them are this way. Recently I posted on the Lexus owners club Facebook group page offering free advice & guidance on battery, auxiliary transmission pump & shock absorber issues to any one who is having problems, pretty much directly after i posted i was grilled heavily by another member of the group as to my qualifications & experience which I was able to provide easily. He was clearly trying to discredit me to any one reading - It was only after this "conversation" ended after my repeat insistence's !! - that I thought I would have a look at this persons Facebook profile & guess what!!! Yep you guessed it he is employed by a Lexus dealership as an after-sales manager would you believe!!! I think the moral is only go on other owners experiences & reccomendations. With your transmission filling questions - if you would like to PM me I can give you a great tip on how to fill very easily to the correct level really easily & with no mess - from my own experience!!!

They are not actually too tricky to replace for a mechanic on a two post ramp, the electric adjusters sit on top of the stem (behind the hybrid battery panel) there is nothing tricky here a simple bayonet fitting - push & twist & they are off also just as easy to refit as long as you make sure the drive spindle locates in the inner stem spindle properly which is pretty obvious - check the condition of the drop links if they are badly worn now is the time to replace them. Part numbers can be identified with your vin number from your V5/C at toyodiy.com Parts can be sourced at dealers or places like amayama or partsouq - there are probably other places out there too. hope this info helps other members too.

Mine are not faulty, i have 2 missing as the previous owner had the tyres changed at an independent outlet, so i have to clear the data every couple of weeks or so when warnings pop up - a real pain - I refuse to pay silly money to have them done at Lexus & will be working on a way to defeat/delete the whole thing and i WILL do it eventually!.

I have a friend who runs an independent tyre business here in Northampton (AGH Tyres highly recommended) speaking to him apparently there are systems coming on line that can clone the digital programming information from removed bad lexus (and others) tyre valves & then can be used to reprogramme new after-market valves, i researched it & it looks to me that you would have to be in the tyre business & using it regularly to warrant the cost of the system - unless anyone else here knows different? I really do not like this system at all - while i accept it can be viewed as an important safety gismo in practice its just an annoying headache for most, if the safety issue is paramount then why are they not a mandatory fit to all vehicles??
