  1. You'd have a hard time finding a car that's had the batteries replace because they rarely are.
  2. There will be a registration fee and maybe VAT but no import, duty as long as you buy it before we leave the EU. :)
  3. You already know the quality of Lexus, the Hybrid is that and then some. Good luck.
  4. Just shows what crap you can find on the internet. When I was told that, I was comparing ownership of LS460, Seven Series and S Class, I somehow finished up with a Gs450h. Having said that at 395+101 you're more than half way to a recon battery, which you may not even need but you definitely won't need a timing belt change on a 450h.
  5. I was put off the GS430 because of the £900 estimate for renewing the timing belt and stuff. That's an inevitable maintenance bill, that has to be paid to avoid the possibilities of a huge bill, not a maybe it will or won't situation. You won't get that problem with a 450h. Running a quality car has its pitfalls, no matter which model you choose, the pitfalls just vary from model to model.
  6. When you get a problem the first thing you do is search the internet for advice and solutions. It's inevitable that forums spring into the search results. I joined this forum when I had my caliper problems. So I would imagine there's a good proportion of all battery problems reported to forums but the actually statistics would not take into account the thousands of owners, who are not members of any forum because they've never had a problem with anything.
  7. I was nervous at first but I've had my GS450h for three years and though I've had problems (Brake Caliper / Shock Absorber etc.) the Hybrid system has operated flawlessly. Any problems I've had, could have happened to a GS300 too.

  9. Road tax is £230 GS300 is £520 Batteries very rarely give problems but should you be really unlucky and have a problem, there's a guy (member here) who can fix it for just a few hundred. The difference in a couple of years road tax sorts it. If it's been serviced by Lexus, it will have had the health check anyway but it's only about £50 to have it checked before you buy it anyway. MPG varies 32-40 and don't floor it without your neck brace on. :) JUST DO IT. :)
  10. Why??????????????????????????????????????? :) They're really reliable, in comparison the straight petrol makes no sense at all. IMHO of course. I have an 08 with similar mileage but I certainly wouldn't sell it for that price, snap it up before someone else does.
  11. Newer, less tax, better MPG, blistering performance. Well worth the extra £800. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201710170374175?model=GS 450H&sort=sponsored&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=fy11rn&make=LEXUS&radius=1500&page=1
  12. If I have something moving around in the glove box I have to stop and sort it. My wife will happily sit and ignore it, totally oblivious to it. I'm sure the bottom could be about to fall out of the engine and she would just carry on regardless. I think it may be women in general, my first wife was the same. On one trip in our old Vette,, every time we went round a sharp bend, there was a definite clunk. I spent ages wondering what it may be. It turned out to be a large lemonade bottle rolling around in HER footwell.
  13. 2008 also has a revised front grill and different light placements. Not all good news though, the sunroof became an option on the SE-L, so I haven't got one. I probably wouldn't use it anyway.
  14. £140 per set at Tillings Preston. Good job too, just had mine done. Removing the chrome trims can be a pain, so care must be taken.
  15. The Daf was belt driven, the Lexus uses Planetary gears. Much more reliable.
  16. I have a Hybrid so most of my experience is not relevant but you should watch for leaky shock absorbers & seized rear brake calipers. BTW many people won't buy the Hybrid because of the CVT. If this is the case, don't worry, it's awesome.
  17. Compression, combustion & ignition are my thing, wouldn't know where to start with suspension geometry.
  18. The evidence is, it would appear that we're experiencing a problem and because Lexus say it's normal, we should all be happy but I'm not. My BMW with the same size tyres didn't do it. My Corvette with 285/30/19 tires (Lower and wider) didn't do it. And if we're bragging about qualifications, I'm an Aeronautical Engineer.
  19. Correct, all manufacturers have different designs. What we're realising, from this thread, is the Lexus design seems to be a poor one. I sometimes think we should put away our rose tinted spectacles and be realistic.
  20. Which is true for all makes and models but I've never had a car that has done it before.
  21. Mine does it too. I got the geometry checked by Lexus but the say it's OK. I'd thought about restricting the amount of lock because I wouldn't have thought it would do the suspension components much good. It's probably done like this, so Lexus can advertise a smaller turning circle, than is actually practical.
  22. CVT is more reliable than a standard auto, so go for it. If you go for the hybrid, get a health check done. It only about £50 but if the car has a Lexus history, it's done as part of the service anyway. The rear brakes on the hybrid tend to seize too.
