  1. Anyone know the size of the metal pipe that was the issue or the rubber pipe work either side? I have the same thing on mine, I think I can replace the metal pipe with a hydraulic hose and get some fittings either side but need to know the diameter - its on the low pressure side of the system so a lot easier to fix.
  2. Hello mates ! My power steering has been losing a little fluid lately so decided to find out which pipe was leaking, turns out the flow or return pipe that attaches to the chassis leg has rusted so bad (from the inside) that its swelled up and leaky so needs replacing/repairing. The metal part is fixed to the rubber hoses by retaining clips/posh jubilee clips so must be on the low pressure side so maybe an easy repair. Anyone done the same - thinking I will whip the pipe off and take it to a high pressure pipe repair place.
  3. Heres one for £40 plus delivery, not mine. I am looking for a drivers side one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-RX300-N-S-LH-PASSENGER-SIDE-REAR-QUARTER-WINDOW-GLASS-2003-2008-/222016656932?
  4. Theres one on here that fits your bill !!
  5. Depends on your annual mileage - but I opted for a low mileage 300 - plus 400h gearstick......just need to find the time to fit the silver vinyl wrap to all the wood trims.
  6. Ebay is the best place. I took ours out as the buggy is a bit of a squeeze with the load cover in.
  7. Cambelt 10 years or 100,000 miles, although its a non interferance engine but good to get piece of mind and saves on recovery costs if it was to let go and water pump replacement at the same time. It should of been done at this mileage but always check the invoice, budget around £400 - non Lexus dealer. Check everything works, load and eject cd's a dozen times during the test drive - error 4 could help you knock a few hundred off the price. Drop and raise the suspension a few times, look underneath for rust, little torch and beedy eyes around the engine including power steering pump and all pipes, leaks are common. Just do the normal checks with wishbones, brakes, even tyre wearing, inside and out. Check all the windows and roof, if the one touch isnt working then it needs a reset. Check power boot works. If it has faults then price it accordingly, plently out there and they are a hard sell with the horrible MPG figures so its a buyers market. I picked up a 53 reg SEL with 47,000 miles last year for less than £6,000 so you can pick up a decent Gen2 for £4K. I was watching a number of RX's for a month on Ebay/Autotrader before I bought the current one, you will see the same ones advertised for weeks on end - so I looked at the newly listed adverts, the good/cheap ones dont tend to hang around for long. Good luck, you will be waffing along nicely once you pick up the right RX.
  8. Cripes, mine is missing too, drivers side rear quarter window.... Been trying to find one on a breakers for ages. Most be a common fault there !
  9. Yes, very good. Bought it for the other half, she loves it, only drives around 100 miles a week, half of them is me driving it at the weekend! If I used it for work it would kill me, like to get a 400h but no money left. Drives very well, I got the cam belt done as soon as i bought it, but it really didnt need doing, as they hardly ever break and are a non interferance engine. At least we know its fine now so should get another decade out of it! Looking for the silver trims to replace the wood, but hardly anything availble, I may get some other wood trims and try to vinyl wrap or plastic dip them.
  10. Paid £5.8K private seller, very happy with the price considering what was on offer at the time. Take your time looking, as I was watching a number of RX's for a couple of months that are still for sale now, so they are either no good or overpriced.
  11. Gen 2's come out 2003, that one looks tip top, just not sure about the colour. I bought a silver 53 reg Gen2 SEL with less than 47K full history, black leather for about the same price as that one a couple of months ago off a private seller. I watched a few on the ebay for 2/3 months before I started to view them, they were for sale in January and still for sale now, you will get to know which ones are over priced and which ones have something up with them. The one I bought came up and on a Wednesday and I bought it on the Thursday.
  12. Buy a Gen2 SE, that will avoid the possible expensive air suspension issues and minimise the gearbox problems. What sort of budget are you aiming for?
  13. I bought a 53 reg RX300 with just under 48,000 miles a few months ago. I looked around for a good few months before seeing anything on autotrader and ebay, finally bought off a private chap on ebay. You will get to know the cars that have been advertised for weeks and weeks at dealers or over priced private sellers so you will have a better idea of the value and market. Good thing about these cars is the horrid MPG puts a lot of people off so you can be very picky, choose one with no issues mechanically and as full service history as possible. After owning a SEL I would now consider cars without sat nav if they are very low mileage or in very good order as the reversing camera and changing the heater speed by touch screen is a gimick, but cool to have.
  14. Theres a very quick route to more power on the RX300 and probably end up costing you the same........sell it and buy a RX350 - BOOM 70 more hp's !
  15. Dont worry folks, picked up a 53 reg SE L with 48K on the clock last night. Luuuuuvvvvveerrrrrrlllllyyyyy !!!!!!
  16. As title, looking for a RX, around the 2004 year, upto 125K miles, good history, nav, black or grey leather, no beiges or golds. Seen a couple on the e-bay and autotrader but would be prefer to buy from a club member, going to go for some test drives next week. I thank you !
