  1. Sorry to hear about your problem you have to be wary when you buy private. prob best thing you could do to prove if he is a trader is phone up the previous owner and ask them when they sold the car did they fill in the motor trader part on the v5 as the way the new rules for v5 and car tax are its probably likely that the previous owner filled in some part of the v5 and sent to the dvla as its not really an option now not to fill in the v5.It sounds like he is in the trade as that would be the only reason why his name is not on the v5 as motor traders don't registar it in there name if the motor trader part of the v5 is sent off. If this is the case then you would have some come back but you would need to send a letter to him first outling the problem and giving him a deadline of say 7 days to reply and address problem if not then contact trading standards.I would notify ebay just now.I pressume you got a recipt for the car!!!!. If he is just a private seller it would be pretty hard to get your money back as they will say the onus is on you to check out properly if you thought there was a discrepency with the mileage. i was a car salesman for years so thats how i know this !!! thats probably easiest method is to phone previous owner and ask them how they sold the car and why but you really should have done this at the start and got it hpi checked. Hopes this helps you out a bit .
  2. I hope the mileage comes back in your favour mate You would have some legal comeback if the person that had sold to you had advertised it as 53K miles and it turned out to be 86K miles. Make sure you keep a hold of any adverts or reciept of sale till you get the mileage confimed. Your car looks good from the pics :D
  3. Hi mate welcome to the club Sounds like you have a AS200 there if its 6 cly engine its the same one thats in the lexus is200.Sure its about 150 bhp standard The RS200 has the 4cyl beams engine in it.210bhp and has beams written on top of the engine funnily enough!! The emisions should be the same again unless you remove the cat or tamper with exhaust. I would have thought when they converted the spedeo they would have done the odometer as well.Im sure its the one module that plugs in to back of dash that converts the KMPH to MPH and KM to MILES at the same time. 86000km definitly converts to 530000 miles (1km=0.62 miles) You should ask if the car has a bimta certificate or any documents to support what miles it had before it was imported that would tell you the mileage that it had in japan before it arrived here.If you reckon that when you drove it home the mileage was about right then it must have been converted to miles. Hope that helps a bit
  4. Well guys took car to garage today checked engine mounts and driveshaft adjusters but no joy everything looks fine, still looks like propshaft problem at rear, need to wait till problem more severe !!!!

  7. Did you have that problem as well colin,is that what it turned out to be,do they just need tighting up or replaced !!!!!
  8. Any you guys had this problem mines has started to make vibrating noise only now and again seems to be more noticable between 60-40 mph.If you let car free wheel with no accelelation at that speed noise appears but dissapears under acceleration or by puting the clutch in.Seems like a propshaft problem but when inspected on ramp everything looks fine, mechanic in garage thinks propshaft but no visable clues.Any ideas or help appriciated !!!!!!!!
  9. Seems like a bit hard work tape, dental floss, heat guns,If you try kettle trick Thats how professional bodyshops debadge your car.
  10. The best and eaisiest way to take the badge of is to boil kettle and pour the hot water over badge and slowly with your nails pull badge away from car.Do it slowly and all the sticky foam behind it should come of with it.If not use tar and glue remover to take the sticky foam off and then polish where badge was to bring fresh paint up. :D :D :D
  11. Try it i get the same problem with mine other day i got out and tried to lock the car and heard the chime noise it makes when the key is in ignition although key was in my hand at time.Only does it now and again mind you not all the time.
  12. Hi guys Sometimes ive had the same problem and i'll tell you what i think it is,make sure the ignition switch/barell is fully anticlock wise when you pull the key out as sometimes it sticks and it will not let you lock the doors using the plip as it thinks the key is still in the ignition obviously.Try turning ignition on off a few timesand see how you get on,should cure problem!!!!!! :D :D

    Keys

Hi Guys I had the same problem regarging the keys i have a Altezza RS200 and looks the the solution to the immobiliser probem is ,some but not all of TIMPSON (high st brand shops) have the laser cutter to do keys, also in the shop itsself some shops have a machine that the locksmith uses and by putting the key in this machine he can tell within seconds whether there is a transponder in the key or not.but as a final check as GPS suggested in another post remove the plip unit from the key and see if the car starts without it keeping the plip unit away from the car when you do this and if starts HAPPY DAYS you can get key cut for about £10. moral of the story looks like not all Altezzas have the immobiliser built in as standard. Hope this helps :D :D :D
