  1. Went along to Lexus Edinburgh tonight and was offered a test drive of this bad boy, with a professional driver sitting next to me.

Must admit it looks great and didn't half turn heads when out on the road.

The V8 is very quiet in comparison to the ISF and you can barely hear it running at idle. Much less induction noise above 4k but the exhaust note is abit beefier sounding.

The professional guy had driven the LC at Goodwood and was keen to show me all the driving modes and tell me off for not holding the wheel properly lol

Anyways I don't think I'll be trading in the ISF just yet. IS feels alot more raw in comparison even if it doesn't have the technology and stunning looks. Nothing to do with the price of course 😁

  2. Think I'd be tempted by one of these IS300 estates.

Fairly rare beast with the silky smooth 2JZGE straight six.

I've also been looking at Rav4 s to replace my daily runner but unless the yaris explodes I'm waiting till next year.

  3. I've fixed pongy aircon plastercine smells by setting off an aircon biocide bomb can. Usually have the car running with the aircon in full recirculation and set the can off in the back footwell and let it recirc for however long it says.

Halfrauds used to sell the stuff but im sure there's more options online.

  4. Having owned a Monaro and seriously considered a VXR8 i must admit the problems some of the guys on the HSV & Monaro forum were experiencing put me off. Front wishbones last 5k, indicator unit failure seemed common and its behind the dash somewhere. Clutches are weak with the LS7 a common upgrade. Brakes discs were like a grand each from Vauxhall.

Dont get me wrong though the big old pushrod V8 is a character to drive especially a manual, the whole car starts vibrating as the revs rise. I test drove a red Vxr8 LS3 Auto and is was a good compared to the Monaro. Oh and the boot is absolutely massive on them lol

Ha! It was a long motorway journey, I wasn't far through when the person I was visiting asked me to arrive an hour later than planned. I dialled back the speed on cruise to about 55ish, which gave me a better ETA on the sat-nav and just enjoyed the view! I have *never* got anywhere near those two figures again!

    Snow modes cheating lol

Hi guy . Does anyone know the average mileage you will get from a set of front discs. Had my car serviced at Lexus Chester in august last year . 17000 miles at time . But came back as a advisory that front discs had a lip on  and 3 mm on pads . So I've got new brembo front discs and pads for less then £300 from euro car parts £80 fitted from a good friend that's  a mechanic. How much would Lexus charge me ?

Lexus wanted £985 to replace my front discs and pads due to corrosion and uneven pad wear. Mine has just turned 17k and still on the originals. Service guy said it wasn't urgent.

Like you i'll be going to Euro car parts and I'll fit them myself.

Clay mit is the way to go. Much faster and less effort than a clay bar. I was sceptical at first. Just make sure it stays wet, as others have said, a strong solutions of shampoo does the trick.

I'm a fan of Meguires products.  Saying that I'm going to give the poorboys glaze and wax a go on the black paint.

Less chance of dropping a clay mit and scratching the paint lol. i'll see about trying one out next time. Be good to see how you get on with the poorboys stuff, seen some good reviews.

    Cheers

Definitely worth all the hard work, car looks stunning!! Still my favourite colour for the car.

I haven't used a clay bar and really must give it a go. I would be interested in any recommendations re brand etc?

I also use the Autoglym Super Resin Polish and finish iwith Autoglym High definition wax which does seem to last better than anything else I've used to date.  Might be worth giving it a go - it also seems to give a glassier finish as the wax ages.

    Thanks Daw.

I use a Meguiars clay bar and Meguiars quick detailer for em ahem Lube.

Lifted all the tar fairly quickly even if you cant see anything on the paint the clay still turned black.

I remember someone mentioning that Autoglym super resin polish had filling agents so i use this to hide the swirls then wax over it.
