  1. Um, it was a bit of an impulse buy because I was just getting bored and confused with the research! I was put off getting an open type filter and the apexi retains the standard air box. Plus it is a dry filter so avoids any issues with oil getting in the intake. The research suggests there is little performance difference between all the different types so it's probably not worth worrying about too much 😀
  2. I'm a newish member and this forum has been really useful so far but it is a bit quiet at times. I haven't had much time to post recently but I have some plans for my F and hope to post more in 2017.
  3. Hi, I bought my 100k mile F a couple of months ago and you shouldn't be put off a higher mileage example. It feels rock solid with no rattles or woolly steering etc. Buy on condition and spend £300 on an inspection for peace of mind, then get on with enjoying an amazing car! Good luck.
  4. I've just been researching intakes for the last hour! It was all a bit inconclusive though. I ended up getting an apexi kit off ebay, I'll let you know how I get on.
  5. Hi, I'm looking to get some wider wheels to fill the arches better but the ones I like are et40 front and rear. I think the 8.5 inch fronts will be fine but the 9.5 rear might be tight. What is the widest tyre sizes that will fit comfortably? I have coilovers so I can adjust them if I need extra space. Any help appreciated before I commit to new tyres!
  6. Its done through ALA. £285 for 5 year cover, just go on pistonheads and look under 'services'. I think you have to do it quite close to buying the car though.
  7. I've just got a 5 year gap policy from the pistonheads website. No problem insuring my 100,000 mile 8 year old car!
  8. What are the upgrade options for rear pads? I can't seem to find hawk ones, is there anything else out there? I'm looking for street use not the track.
  9. Hi aiden, I work in insurance and can confirm that this is a fundamentally unfair situation for isf owners. The book values are based on all sales of isf (but not any other models in the range). Although retail prices are above even the top book values, the average sale price is dragged down by dealer trade ins and auctions, plus ropey examples and previous write offs. With so few isfs trading hands these have a big effect on the overall average. Therefore the book price is the correct average paid price but a normal punter is unlikely to actually be able to buy one for a book price. Most insurance policies only promise to pay market value for your car rather than the actual replacement value so the ombudsman is unlikely to find in your favour if you've already been offered the top book value sorry. My heart goes out to you. The only way to defend against this is GAP or an agreed value, which doesn't help you. Just let me know if you need any other advice.
  10. Little update - this is now my car! Paid the deposit today and it will be delivered in 2 weeks, can't wait.
  11. Thanks guys. The price is settled and paying a deposit on Monday. Sadly I can't take delivery for another fortnight. I'll try and post some pictures on Monday for you.
  12. The report has come in a it's very positive so I'll be pulling the trigger tomorrow if the price is right. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!
  13. Quick update, I'm getting an inspection done on a nice black isf. Fingers crossed it's a good one!
  14. Best of luck, just be careful that they don't try and knock money off when you get there. If I had £30k I would take off your hands, it's a special car.
  15. Currently on autotrader, high mileage but looks well cared for and had the suspension and exhaust done. Any info would be appreciated as I'm tempted. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201609157795244
  16. Would you get the standard tyre sizes? Is there a performance or cost benefit to different sizes on winters?
  17. It's criminal! I've nothing against people making a living but not 30% mark up for a quick once over and a valet. I would be very interested at £25k if the dealers won't budge, but also hope you get £30k from reading 👍
  18. Thanks both, I'm getting pretty excited now! Selmar - that's a stunning car. I would love a 2013 but think it's out of my price range. I think you're right about the dealer mark up, I just wonder if there are buyers out there willing to pay those prices, especially as RCFS are coming down in price rapidly. The M2 is a good choice, let us know how it compares.
  19. Hi, after considering pretty much every car on the market I've decided that the isf is the one. I want a quiet automatic for the daily grind but some proper performance for the weekend. Any of the latest hot hatches would probably be perfect for me but they leave me a bit cold. Same goes for the usual German suspects. The best thing about my subaru legacy is the howling flat 6 so I know I want a another naturally aspirated engine but I'm looking for a bit more power now. I'm aiming for a MY2010 but there aren't many about. Plus official lexus prices are crazy. Wish me luck and i'll keep you posted.
  20. Here's a quick photo of the Legacy: Spec: 3.0 flat 6 (auto), Prospeed cat-back exhaust with electronic valve to adjust the noise level, K&N panel filter, BC Racing Coilovers, Enkei RPF1s, various poly bushes.
  21. Hi guys, been waiting a while but the planets have aligned and I've started searching for an isf. I currently drive a 2005 subaru legacy which is a great car but the isf has all the same qualities plus a V8! Dealer prices are a bit crazy but I'm hoping to find a MY2010 within my budget. Keep your fingers crossed for me Rusty
