  1. Sorry for the late reply. I've fitted similar type onto my RX300 MkI - The two cost me £20 all in - best 20 quid ever. Very quiet and super clean Used http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/ just picked my car, year etc. and then picked drivers and passenger side
  2. How lucky am I? - I've just won Lexus' 365 day test drive competition - Yip I get to test drive the RX400h for a whole year. Full Story - http://www.localmotoring.com/pages/local-m...p?b=2&a=721 What a great opportunity and what a great car.
  3. I have a mk1 2000 on an X plate - she's done 130k and still going strong. I've had an oxy sensor and light bulb go along with exhaust pipe so not bad in 8 years. Speaking to my service centre mechanically they should last 2-300 k miles - if anything is going to fail it will be electrical, which Lexus buy in rather than make!
  4. :D - Following advice from this forum gave A-Plan insurance (Leo) a bell - Came back to me quickly for extra info and was back again within a couple of hours all sorted saving me £120 on current policy renewal figure. A policy was sorted that met my specific needs rather than trying to pigeon hole me into a policy that a company already had on the shelf. Great Guy to deal with, will use again when wife's car and house need renewing together with mentioning to friends and colleagues. Thanks again Leo - Nice work.. Cheers Ian
  5. Hi, Don't know if this helps, I'd got one of these I used on my previous car - I've used it a couple of time in my MK1 RX300 Just in case the link doesn't come out too well its from Halfords and it's a Halfords High Mount Cycle Carrier itemcode: 706689-0 Bike Carrier You can position it just right so the bikes hand ok - not too high as suggested on the web site, but high enough so number plate and lights are still visible. Hope this helps Ian
  6. 'd had problems in the past when I was using the Lexus approved TOYO's on my MK1 RX300 - I was getting 17K before I had to replace. I was advised to try the General Grabber UHP 215/70 r16 - Not only do they look good but I've just changed after 35K and they are cheaper than the TOYO's - so a result!
  7. Norwich Union Direct via Confused.com were by far the best for me, my broker who I'd been with for 5 yrs said ' can't compete with them at the moment as they are trying to buy customers' - Give em a go, they quoted me happy!
  8. A cheaper and maybe a better option for the sat nav would be to get somthing like TomTom Go or Tom Tom Navigator which is either a standalone or a Pocket PC version of sat nav. - From my experience it's got more upto date maps than the Lexus and only costs about £30-50 pa to get latest release. Judge for yourself @ TomTom Nav3 or TomTom Go
  9. Thanks for the fast response guys, I'll ask at the dealership - Lexus Brum
  10. Do Lexus, or any dealers invite their customers on any kind of driving days, I've recently been to one run by BMW and Peugeot - Both good family days out, as an RX300 owner I was interested to compare with the BMW's X5 which was all very nice but not worth the extra 20 grand. So if any one wants to invite me, or let me know how I can get on a mailing list that would be great. Cheers Ian
  11. I purchased a 3 yr old Mk1 9 or so months ago with 25K on the clock, managed to convince dealer to throw in the 30k service for me - 40K service was a major one at circa £450, plus brake pads and disks @ £500'ish - However dealer told me that 50 & 60k services were also major ones, so I opted for the pre-paid services packs to cover these Sums made it a no brainer : very rough figures 40k - £450 50k - £350 60k - £400 3 service pack was £720 spread interest free over 10 months. Only real gripe has been the quality of the alloy wheels. Drive is fantastic, seats very comfortable buy, buy, buy!! and enjoy
  12. After 2 successful trips to and from Ireland 500 miles each I can confirm towing with an RX is no problem - You notice a small decrease in power, need to brake earlier - overall no problems. If anything knowing you have a trailer on the abck helps on Irish roads as it keeps your speed down on the twisty turny bumpy lanes.
  13. I have a 3 1/2 yr old Mk1 RX300, over the last few months I've switched to Optimax from SHELL - what a difference the car is quieter and I get better MPG, average 27mpg, before I was getting 25. Ok, tis dearer but better alround performance and better shell reward points!! and the company pays the £150 a wk petrol bill!
  14. I've just purchased a 6ft x 4ft x 5ft covered trailer can anyone advise whether I'm better driving with overdrive on or off, or indeed whether they is anything else (RX300 wise) that I should think about before a journey, other than hooking up, checking tyres, lights etc. Cheers Ian (the virgin tow'er!!)
