  1. Blimey Linas youdont half go round in circles sometimes. You totally missed the meanings within my previous post. Having headlights on in daylight is absolutely absurd. The only headlights to be on in daylight are very poor light emitting halogen types. Xenon and LED types absolutely Not. They do Not give a pedestrian a better idea how far a car is, it more likely confuses them as the dazzle is off putting. DRL's are excellent in daylight. Headlights Should be switched on as soon as the daylight has dimmed or its overcast or cloudy. Yes DRL's are unfortunately only on the front of cars. I see daily car operators in the evening with just the DRL's on and no other lights. I take pleasure in flashing them and sounding my horn. If I pass them, which more often than not I do, I'll flicker my rear fog lights. I've even shouted at the dingbats to switch your lights on. As mentioned cars of late have the indicators within the headlight unit. More often than not that signal can not be seen in daylight when headlights are on. Another pet hate is dingbats who have their rear high intensity lights on when it's not foggy. But that's something else. If anyone wants to have their headlights on in daylight and an incident is caused because of dazzlement then they're in deep pooh.
  2. Personally speaking the thought of these day driving lights is stupid and irresponsible. These new cars with these super bright LED type headlights are not only dazzling but blinding also. But the same can be said for Xenon and upgraded Halogen. I drive professionally in both night time going into daytime. By virtue of this I see just about everything there is to see and of late my biggest pet hate is headlights on in daylight. So a thought is to be seen eh? If you're not seen then it's not down to not having lights on but because those vehicle operatives are either myopic or on a different planet or doing something they're not supposed to. If those operators around you were actually paying due care and attention then all would be good. Having daytime headlights on can cause more harm than do good. The vehicles with day driving lights which in my mind are ok are those with those lights below the headlights that do not project a piercing beam of light.
  3. Well there you go John. I am however surprised you haven't got a copy of techstream yourself. In the meantime of waiting for the dealer to contact you why don't you get at that switch and see if it's wiring plug is fully home.
  4. Mmmmmm could you have then a dodgy switch? If you've had to yank and pull the switch really hard then it sounds like a dodgy switch. I don't know how the switch looks but maybe you can remove it and see if it comes apart so as to clean its contacts.
  5. Can't see someone with a BEV and an ICE car being carbon neutral. For one the, as you oh so correctly put, abhorrent mining of precious minerals metals etc to manufacture the batteries costs what around 70% more than producing an ICE car. What did Volvo say? It'll take about 10 years of running the BEV before it starts to become carbon neutral. Now because I'm a working class fella my view is those with a BEV and an ICE car are rich snobs or lottery winners which in that case good on them.
  6. That's not a problem Daniel. You can by a CD drive that sits next to your computer and plugs in via USB. I run techstream on Windows 10 without issues. The seller I got my copy from is very helpful in setting things up.
  7. Yes Scotland is a fabulous place to visit. Dependant on time of travel there it takes just over 4.5 hours from Manchester to Edinburgh in a truck at 02.30am. But because of the return trip 'home' it usually takes between 6 and 8 hours back. M6 is a wonderful road but ruddy hell it's full of morons making it rubbish for the rest of us. Yes that article mentioned All methods of fuelling travel. It also mentioned being duped into buying BEV. You've chosen the tesla for your own personal reasons which is fine. But where I feel disheartened by BEV owners is they don't give a rats ***** about how the batteries got made. If they did then no BEV's would be sold. That's how I personally see it and why I'd Never go BEV even if it did make economic sense which actually it doesn't now.
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124808047632?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=e2zvldr0qu6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=WKLhtmKvT-C&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I bought this one. There's 2 discs. One for Windows 7 and one for Windows 10/11. The seller is excellent with helping install it.
  9. Hi Daniel. I actually forgot about this thread. I urge you to get a copy of techstream of ebay. You'll need the dedicated OBD plug. Look on other threads where you see VCS etc and you'll find what you need to get techstream. My thinking is that the fault you are seeing is a historical one. That is there IS'NT a current one. Using techstream you can do a proper scan just as lexus do and clear codes easily.
  10. This is perhaps the outright Best article on cars to date. Presented articulately and in a language anyone can understand. Mr R Atkinson deserves a huge thanks from us 'petrolheads' and a massive pat on the back. I just hope those thick headed brain dead politicians read that article and take note.
  11. Hi Simon and finally welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. You took your time didn't you? lol. Good to know you're enjoying ownership of your ES. You're getting very good fuel mileage. Have a look in the dedicated section of this forum. There is an ES section. Introduce yourself there. We are all happy to help where we can.
  12. Absolutely Ed. Vehicles like the twizy would be treated with contempt by a vast majority of car operatives. Note I didn't use the word drivers and that's because only about 20% of those who use cars can call themselves drivers. The other 80% are impatient ignorant and self centred and are a danger on our roads. That's why I stopped using my pushbike for work because it down right dangerous on the roads where I am.
  13. I really like electric bikes. I'd have one if I could afford one. They've got so much going for them. Once when delivering in Liverpool I saw a thick tyred electric bike and the way he shot off from the lights was amazing.
  14. Oh dear Gang. I hope you're not admitting to being a nuisance 2 wheeler lol. Enjoy your break (no bones that is).
  15. Hi Mark. Blimey you really have been busy compiling that MOT failure and advisory list. What I'd say is Yes buy it But for NO MORE than £100. Once in your possession take it and get it weighed in for scrap. You may just triple your money 😁 or if you have the space and mechanical knowhow break it for spares.
  16. Hi Lloyd. By middle daylight running lights. What you're describing is actually your Mainbeam headlight bulbs aren't working. What happens if you pull in the left hand stalk of the steering wheel? The stalk which has the lights on and off and auto.
  17. This post should get you a few free washes eh Brian? lol
  18. Bernard. The first 'thing' you posted about BEV fires. That was dated 2020 December. What bugs the living daylights out of me is the copy n paste brigade. I read that article about 21/2 years ago and again just over a year ago. Not your fault however. This thread is going doolally with all sorts of nonsense. Some do it to wind others up. Some do it coz they're bored merdless etc etc. At the end of the day technology is changing almost every few days with new forms of battery cell structure and hydrogen manufacturing processes becoming cheaper and cheaper. Shame alternatives like synthetic fuel isn't being mentioned as much.
  19. Steve. What you said about the transmission pump not running. This is for CVT yes? John is talking about a standard auto. The differential has its own 'tank' of oil. Therefore by virtue its ok to tow an auto if its in neutral.
  20. Good of you to post this info Steven 👍
  21. Hi Colin and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Your question has been answered by PatrikS but before you commit yourself wait for a reply from Linas. He'll give you the lowdown on the car and will either cement your commitment or the complete opposite.
  22. It's getting rather tiresome that some threads go out of keelter (however that's spelt). Battery cell technology is at a very good pace where substitutes for nickel and cadmium and other precious metals are being tested and some good results are coming through. Hydrogen rollout is a definite in a few countries but not here as much unfortunately. Hydrogen for logistics is a Must as battery just isn't good enough by a long chalk. I saw very recently that 2 of the few Hydrogen filling stations in London were being decommissioned. 2 reasons came up. 1 lack of use and 2 for uprating. Time will tell. Synthetic fuel for ice cars is on a slow road and not been heard of recently. There's someone contributing to this thread who reminds me of another none lexus forum member who became obnoxious with his self centred idiosyncratic posts. Is this thread heading towards censorship closure?
  23. Interesting thread you started Mattias. I'll join in as I'm a former keeper of the is300h premier. Superb car from which I went to RX450H as a larger car was needed. Now I'm in the best Lexus I've owned. The is250 and the way I see things is I'll still be in my is250 long after I've retired in 6 or so years. To go EV for me is a very expensive unaffordable luxury which I'll never enter EV ownership. Those with EV's I wish you well and hold no negativity.
  24. Here's a part of the bill to replace alternator on is250. Clearly shows 3 hours labour at around £129 per hour. I think your lexus dealer got something wrong and you should query it.
